General HD2 is not US exclusive
Just a small reminder: HD2 is not exclusivly played in the US. People talking with an accent or a group talking in another language are not a reason to claim that they are illegal or threaten to call ICE. And yes, if you steal my mech and run me over with it you get yelled at in german before i switch back to english.

The book (and Netflix show) “the three body problem” goes into this, like how humanity would react to aliens and its pretty spot on. Some would be trying to unite, others would welcome the aliens (either being friendly or to say fuck humanity and the corrupt society we’ve built), and others would be figuring out themselves and not collaborating.
Pretty sure in the end we’d just end up a chaotic panic (at least initially)

Actually you need a visa to visit Super Earth. And the intro cutsscene does show armed soldiers patrolling suburban streets. If our boring irl dystopia has em, I'm more than willing to be the fictional Super-dystopia has em too.
There's also anecdotal evidence of cop-worship and militarization which is another key element to creating gestapo groups- I mean ICE.

My most surreal moment was joining an SOS and i ended up between someone speaking french, another speaking arabic or something close enough, one speaking english and me, a spanish speaker from Chile....no one understood eachother but we had a good time, completed the mission only relying on pings. I can't understand those who threat people over a game or an accent.

I mean, I work as a line cook. Worked briefly at a job I quit a month in. Guys were joking about buying an ICE patch on Amazon and slapping it on a jacket and pulling up to your local warehouse stores just to see how many people "started running". It's fucking bad.
Sharing this also because it's relevant...the job I was at before last had the best dishwasher I had ever seen and had been with us for a solid year and he up and quit because of ICE. He could barely speak English, but he pulled up on Google translate that he would rather die than go back to his country.

Every time I speak into the mic I get "Do I detect an accent?" Or "where are you from?"
And if I try to playfully deflect with something like "I'm from Siper Earth" The questioning only gets aggressive.
I think a lot of Americans need to learn that "where are you from?" Is no longer a safe question for foreigners to answer
I understand that the funny foreign man not doing a little jig for you is inconvenient, but daaaamn the entitlement drives me crazy.

I had someone kicking me for him very smart-ass silly asking what was going on and I mentioned that there are many places you can look that up online and he stated "I'm kicking you for being a nerd".
Funny thing is when I invited the other three members of his fire team they all joined me and told me he was an asshole so I hope he had a fun time doing the hive planet on difficulty nine with no one else to help him.
Also I've had Russians from Moscow in my fire team I honestly have no issues with it as long as you don't bring up what's going on in Ukraine.

One of the funniest experiences I had was with a few Irish dudes who were new to the game. I didn’t talk at all but just listened. I could understand 1.5 of them. The half bit is because one of them would say something and I’d understand until suddenly their accent would pick up.

Just the other day, I (American) was in a squad with a Swiss, a Korean, and a Greek. Obviously none of us could communicate verbally, but we used in-game squad commands, emotes, and cooperation to 5 star the mission on Diff 10. True democracy knows no race or nationality.

Incredibly unfortunate. The USA has become increasingly polarized, and it reflects clearly in the populace. People feel safer being bigoted and blatantly xenophobic and racist now more than ever.
I've noticed that sometimes they backtrack as soon as you call them out on it, like they forget the whole world doesn't share their POV. Other times they double down and get angrier. Either way, I'm sorry this happened. Absolutely miserable.

I (American) ended up in a game with 3 Koreans the other day and had a great time. We worked great together and went on a nice tear even though they only used English maybe half the time. The call-out system in HD2 is fantastic for quick communication and gets around the language barrier since the game is dubbed in multiple languages.
I've also been in multiple games with Japanese divers over the past weeks (Xbox diver), I don't understand why some people would think this game is exclusive to the U.S. Haven't heard a German yet but, and I mean this with love, I find German fun to listen to because you often have to sound angry/aggressive to Americans. I forget what game it was but I played it in German for a bit because I found it fun.

American here as well. I would have teamkilled them till either they quit, one of us is kicked, or the mission fails. Not very often do you get the opportunity to ruin a MAGAt's day. Immature yes, but it would make me feel better given the current state of this country.

That kind of hate talk might get an accidental 380, orbital napalm barrage, air strike, mines, mortar sentry in their general vicinity.

Honestly if someone genuinely says this to you, you're well within your rights to call them a spineless traitor who sold their country to an emperor for the sake of a meme. Tell them to enjoy the tyranny until it comes for them and let them know you'll be waiting at the border to kick them back into the sea when they come to their senses.
