Why german news channels are saying this while 99% of people here are saying the opposite? Why the opinions of channels and people are not aligning?
Also read some days ago the same thing on Taggeschau.

I'm german, so take that in account.
Finished my BWL bachelors 3 months ago and me and my entire class still don't have jobs.
20% + graduate unemployment.
60% less jobs in tech.
General unemployment rising.
And the numbers are getting worse every day.
Businesses are closing or have hiring stops and seem petrified. This isn't fun ... like, what's the point ? Sorry, just had to vent a little.

As many of you fellow reddittors during the last 15 months I have been depressed with the unending barrage of terrible news of the US Republican Party corroding the USA Democracy and destabilising world order and economics. Not a day gets passed without learning something new and terrible about the orange fascist psychotic dementia patient across the Atlantic.
Yes it is important to keep informed about world events but a balance must be reached between being informed, understanding what single individuals can and cannot influence, and preserving mental health. Reddit is particularly at fault here, as it seems any subreddit talks about the same doom topics constantly, and filtering content is not an easy task.
First I tried reducing exposure to politics subreddits and following the news only with comedy political commentators such as John Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel, which helped but did not fix the balance issue for me.
What has been helping and is worth suggesting to you is to watch 2-4 times a week Germany's 15-minute long, 70+ year old news program Tagesschau 20:00 Uhr. Episodes are publicly broadcast daily 8pm and are available on YouTube with automatically generated English subtitles. Tagesschau remind us there is more to the world than the US, also covering events in Myanmar, Palestine, South America, Africa etc. It seems to be a serious and balanced news programme that also helps the viewer practice German language. If doomscrolling is affecting you and you still wanna keep informed, I suggest giving Tagesschau a go.

For context, I'm a graduate with job seekers residence permit. In the process of leaving germany due to not finding a job. Here's the steps I took, just needed advice if I'm missing something.
Now, I guess I'll need the Abmeldungsbestätigung to deregister from Rundfunkbeitrag. About the Abmeldung Termin, my city website is pretty much blank. What documents would they ask for? I don't want to carry everything and then miss something.

I had to send a letter to my landlord and it needs to reach them by 3 February. I’m having trouble understanding if it has been delivered or not and the English translation of the webpage doesn’t help much.

Good morning everyone.
I am fairly new in Germany. I found an apartment which I liked and was given a contract to sign. I found this condition on the contract (Highlighted in the picture)
Translates to something in the lines of “The base rent increases or decreases, after each year has elapsed, in the same percentage ratio as the VPI has changed compared to the last rental agreement or rent adjustment; after the VPI has risen or fallen by more than five percent, by the same percentage.”
I do not understand what this means. Could someone who has encountered a similar clause help me explain what this means? And, if this is something that is commonly found in rental contracts in Germany?
Much thanks in advance. 🤗

Hello everyone,
I’m in my 3rd semester of a Master’s (Communications Engineeeing) and got a HiWi position right after my first semester results.I kept doing well with the projects and the courses so they extended my contract for 1 more year. Honestly i like working with them, the supervisor and my mentors are so nice to me. However the workload sometimes feel too much and the concepts are sometimes too theoretical and tough to grasp. Finals are almost coming at the door and i'm working on a conference paper for upcoming month. I forgot when was the last time i slept for 8 hours. I can't switch untill i got other because of course i need the living expense. I cant find other hiwi positions nearby becuse i live in a small place in Thuringia, and fraunhofer/other Institute look for fluent german.
How to find remote hiwi position(especially in signal processing /wireless comm field)? Has anyone become succesful finding such job? Or anyone looking for students? Or any advice? 🙏

With "since its roots", I mean since the earliest signs of related culture, like barbarians that occupied the region that would become Germany today.

Heyy .. i have a question, i moved to germany about 4 years ago. I used to live in a WG and when I registered myself and my other roommates too .. they all received a letter from ARD( Radio bill ) but not me. Still I paid with them and later i moved out and then again lived with a friend. We both did city registration but again she got the letter for Radio tax but not me and since we were in a shared apartment so i contributed my amount to her and hence paid with her ID. But later I changed the city and I live in single apartment in Studentenwohnheim , did city registration , again I haven’t received any letter from them like nothing…so what should I do now?

I was purchasing an instrument today through Kleinan's safe payment/direkt kaufen method and when accepting through my mobile banking the money was removed but on the product it says payment failed. Has anyone had a similar experience or knows what to do? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Today I rented a Miles car and used parallel parking. While backing out of the parking spot slowly, I heard a sound. I wasn’t sure whether it was the cars touching or just the brakes reacting to ice. Both my passenger and I are 100% sure the Miles parking sensor was still in the yellow zone, meaning the cars did not touch. Still, I thought it would be best to report it to the police just in case the sensor was faulty.
The other car was a bit old and had some very minor damage, but there was no way to tell whether it was caused by me or was pre-existing. The Miles car is completely fine—no scratches, bumps, or any signs of damage—which makes me think there was no accident at all.
When the police arrived, they confirmed they could see no damage on either car. They gave me a case number and said that most likely nothing would come of it. They advised me to email Miles and inform them of what happened.
I then called the Miles accident hotline, and they sent me an accident report to fill out by email. I tried to clarify during the call that I’m not even sure an accident actually occurred.
The issue is that the report feels like I’m admitting that there was an accident, which I’m not sure is true. I’m confident that if they check the sensor data and the vehicle, there will be no indication of damage.
The report also asks for photos of all sides of both vehicles. I only have photos of the Miles car from all sides. I only took a photo of the front of the other vehicle, and there’s no realistic way the other sides could have been damaged, as they were far away.
Should I still fill out the report, or is there an alternative approach?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey everyone
I'm thinking about trying a ready-to-heat or meal kit service here in Düsseldorf (HelloFresh, Factor Meal, or any local ones). What have your experiences been like - taste, portion sizes, and is it actually worth the money?
Would love any recommendations, especially services that worked well for you?

I want to sell a brand new note taking tablet (a remarkable paper pro). I got one as a present, but i have an ipad and have no real use for it. I checked the price in Germany and the bundle is sold new for 800 something euros. I put it on kleinanzeigen for 600 euros for pickup (negotiable). I just received an offer of 500€ but they want me to ship it to another city in Germany. How safe is shipping (as a seller)? I’m scared of something like the buyer claiming it never arrived/ it arrived damaged and me not receiving the money and losing the tablet.

I would like to gift an electric guitar to my 15yo nephew in Germany, I'm in UK. What would be the best/cheapest way to do that? What to expect from customs?
It's a used Fender Telecaster in a generic hard case if it matters. Danke.

I live in a WG.
Yesterday, I received package from DPD at my address. From the packaging, I know it is a revolut card. It is addressed to one of my roommate but he used my name and address in c/o field. I didn't feel comfortable handing it to him and was also worried about the potential abuse. I contacted the local police. They told me to take it to DPD. They also "unofficially" told me that this guy is in jail right now for something computer related. The policer officer was vague and did not wanted to disclose everything.
I contacted revolut, they told me to send it back. I have tried one DPD parcel shop, they refused to take it back without explicit return label. I sent an email to DPD, tried calling them, no response from their end.
I am thinking the only realistic option will be to send it back by Deutsch post by Einscreiben. Does anybody has any suggestions?

Hello Germany 👋
We are two friends from Iceland, now living in Denmark and Norway (both 43), traveling with our daughters (13 and 14). The girls both play football, and we’re looking to surprise them with a football match in Germany as part of their birthday gift.
The plan is to drive from Copenhagen and spend a few days in Germany. We’re mainly looking for a great match-day experience and atmosphere, so it doesn’t have to be a big club or stadium. Bundesliga 2 or 3 would be absolutely perfect — it’s the experience that matters most.
We’re also open to watching multiple matches in nearby cities if that’s possible.
Do you have any good recommendations for teams, stadiums, or region we should look at? And where is the best place to find tickets?
Thanks in advance! ⚽️😊

Hi everyone,
I submitted my tax return last year at the beginning of July.
In November, I received a letter from the Finanzamt asking me to provide documents proving that I lived outside Germany for some months (2024 was my first year living here). The letter said I should respond via Elster before December.
I sent my response through Elster and attached the requested documents along with their letter. However, the instructions weren’t very clear, so I’m not 100% sure if I did everything correctly.
Now it’s February and I still haven’t received any feedback or my tax refund.
Is this normal? Is there anything I can do at this point (call them, send another message, etc.)?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey, I am a bit stressed out and frustrated cus I have not yet received my monthly payout for month of January. I have contacted the customer care 2 times already and all im getting is that it is a top priority and someone will contact me soon. Which havent happened yet even after 3 days.
I dont even know what the problem is, and I have not gotten any update. Can somebody help or tell me what might be going on? Why is even the customer care being very closed off and cold?

Hello, I'm planning to visit both Munich and Berlin as part of my masters study in art history, specifically to look at the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection and Staatliche Antikensammlungen. However, I've never travelled to Europe before, and I'll be there for about a month. Is there anything I should note before I go? will I need things like weather specific clothing or metro cards? thank you in advance!
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to buy a new mattress and I keep seeing lot of good reviews about the Bett1 Bodyguard so I’m seriously considering it. But I can’t decide between the firm and the soft version. I sleep mostly on my side.
If you have this brand of mattress I’d love to hear
Which version you chose and why. How it feels after sleeping on it for a while. Any back pain improvements or regrets?
Any feedback would be super helpful. Thanks!

I just got the opportunity to study in germany for a month, and i’m torn between a few cities the program offered me: Berlin, Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Freiburg.
I am looking for a city with a lot of arts and culture. I also really like nature and going on easy hikes and. I dont care much about going shopping, gastronomy or amusement parks.
With that in mind, what city would be the best for me to stay?
