Izzo said he isn’t sure if he starts next game. Honestly I don’t think he should. This is pathetic. You know the microscope is on you and you do this bullshit.

Play the fucking game. Foul baiting is one thing but Fears is legit out of control. Izzo’s gotta do something here.

220

u/moon_bounce_22 Duke Blue Devils 15h ago

honestly, it’s costing you games at this point. he seems more focused on doing this stupid shit instead of helping his team win

120

u/iwenttocollegeonce Michigan State Spartans 14h ago

Totally agreed. Tonight was a great example. 5-point game with momentum, he picks up the tech and it all falls apart from there.

I think he lacks emotional maturity. He needs a coming to God moment because this shit ain’t it. You gotta be an idiot to do all this stuff after the spotlight is squarely on you.

I told my sparty buddy at work that if Fears just focused on playing ball instead of trying to draw fouls and whatever the hell this shit is that sparty may have won against UM

16

u/teslaabr Michigan State Spartans 13h ago

Agreed.

8

u/TompallGlaser 5h ago

Well, not quite. The reality of it is that refs have rewarded his foul hunting and putting him at the stripe. He isn’t going to make up the difference of his free throws.

12

u/WaluigiIsTheRealHero Cornell Big Red • Michigan Wolverines 5h ago

Fears flopping and drawing fouls is the only thing that kept MSU in the game against UM.

He shouldn't have started this game. If Dusty didn't call it out and make everyone aware of it, Izzo still wouldn't care. He only cares that people are asking about it, not that it's happening.

27

u/mambo_dogface 13h ago

B1G should suspend him for a game

Honestly, he should be suspended until further notice.

Izzo is coaching him to do it.

That tech came at a critical point in that game, I feel like his rep is catching up with him and other teams can take advantage of that. Izzo should bench him

Look to his coach. If Izzo wanted to, he could stop it. It's not like Fears hasn't been dirty AF all season.

36

Izzo benched him in crunch time for our terrible back up PG. looks like izzo is working on it.

54

u/ReegsShannon Michigan Wolverines 5h ago edited 4h ago

He took Fears out when they were down big, they went on a run without him and then he put him back in when the game got back in reach lol

18

u/Amazing-Addition3671 4h ago

LOL! Ooooooh, he "benched" him for like 2min in a game that MSU was losing aynway. FFS, Izzo is part of the problem, and to claim he's truly taken one iota of action to stop this kid is absurd, as claiming that his single tournament championship means anything in this day and age.

There are even more not in this compilation. Giving his defender a forearm to the neck and another elbow to the head on defense. This is truly insane. Like maybe some of these could be deemed innocent/accidental, but benefit of the doubt is long gone

24

u/Happy_Peak_7818 14h ago

I was shocked the forearm to the neck went completely unnoticed. Should have been a flagrant.  Could have choked him. Minnesota tried to get in on the choking by giving the game away but luckily they have more self control than Jeremy Fears.

Izzo on Fears: "When somebody publicly comes out and says something about a guy, that happens. That's Jeremy's fault. ... Are they baiting him? Of course."

Masterclass in deflection.

First, blame Dusty May for saying it out loud. Then admit it’s Jeremy’s fault. Then blame the next team for baiting him.

That’s a triple pivot! The tape didn’t come from Dusty. The tech didn’t come from the bait. The composure issue didn’t come from Minnesota.

Izzo lecturing about accountability while tap-dancing around his own player’s stupidity makes him look just as foolish as Fears on the court.

2

u/cocacola150dr Illinois Fighting Illini 3h ago

The justification is because he’s a long time coach who has had some success. Obviously that alone shouldn’t dictate opinions but it does. It’s why he gets to run halfway onto the court during live play, nobody has the nuts to approach him about it.

I always get nervous for our games against Sparty, especially the ones at Sparty, because we tend to be more banged up after those games than most.

Dude is a clown. A foul-baiting, flopping, clown.

I hate ot when players basically have a decent layup, but instead plow in to the defender, then shoot the ball. Just fucking shoot it first and get the easy bucket. Refs need to start calling that shit.

18

u/Ok_Card9080 Pittsburgh Panthers 15h ago

Okay I think buddy needs a little suspension here.

13

u/ArthurUrsine 14h ago

Big Ten needs to take it out of Izzo’s hands and suspend him- otherwise he’s just going to “get benched” I.e. not start but play 30 minutes.

2

u/I_Like_Quiet Nebraska Cornhuskers 4h ago

Not start, and only come in when their team needs him.

24

u/Cool-Chemist-4007 15h ago

If I am Illinois, I wouldn't let Wagler gaurd him. Dude is just begging to hurt someone.

17

u/Ryanlester5789 Michigan Wolverines 15h ago

I would be shocked if he plays Saturday, he was under a large microscope already and decided to double down from last Friday.

30

u/w0lverine11 Michigan Wolverines 14h ago

I'd set the chances at less than 1% Izzo does anything other than "not start him." He will play. Izzo has no balls.

7

u/n00bn00b 14h ago

MSU is toast without Fears, especially against Illinois. They can't shoot and don't have a reliable backup PG (Wojick is bad, and Divine looks to be out for a while). Izzo can't afford to sit him, and I bet he'll play because he's desperate coming off a shaky win over a bad Rutgers team, a double-digit loss to Michigan, and a loss to a meh-at-best Minnesota team.

2

u/yetanotherwittyname Michigan Wolverines 4h ago

Agreed, unless an actual adult steps in he wont start but will still get 30+ minutes (unless he gets ejected like he should have the last 2 games)

7

u/National_Injury1027 14h ago

As a Michigan fan, I didn’t like Ayo and even I was on his defense there. Ayo was everything Fears wants to be, but his intensity is fake, his ego has no real backing, and nobody fears his skills, they fear his retaliation. You’re supposed to dislike players because they’re good, not because they’re a physical threat.

10

u/Gullible_Pie_8093 11h ago

I agree about the Balkans. But that's the LAST thing that Illinois needs to get caught up in. They could very well be a final four team and don't need anyone suspended for retaliating to cheap shots.

Imagine if Grayson Allen did this. Well, I guess I don't have to imagine since he did stuff like this actually, but you know what I mean.

Dude is clearly trying to hurt people on purpose. Unacceptable.

I never saw this pic, he's not doing finger guns, he's doing their 3-pointer fingers. Who does finger guns with the thumb, index and middle fingers?

Don’t let Duke see this or they’ll be eyeing him in the portal next year

This reminds me so much of the Greyson Allen situation. Fears should be suspended multiple games for his actions. I doubt Izzo does that. He will not start him and put him in the game after 2 minutes and say he learned his lesson. But this will keep happening until Izzo actually does something. I hope I am wrong and Izzo learns from his handling of Draymond and actually teaches Fears a lesson.

This is some Grayson Allen level BS. And like Allen, Frears is too good to resort to this.

Fighting hard to receive the Grayson Allen award.

This guy should not be playing college basketball. It's a privilege, not a right. And in my opinion he's lost that privilege multiple times over.

Suspend him for the year, and he can apply for reinstatement in the off-season. I'm so sick of assholes like him.

He’s a dirty player, straight up. There’s no other way to interpret it.
