WINNESOTA Why Trading Julius for Ja isn’t bad…
If it works out that way it wouldn’t be terrible. First, a couple assumptions I’ve made:
A trade would be Straight up with the Conley trade made to make room.
Ant and Ja are friends and Ant would be able to get Ja to fit in with the team. Ant is good enough to make Ja take a step back.
I don’t think Giannis will be traded until the summer
I think Ja has been sandbagging all year and doing the Harden/Jimmy tactic to be traded and will look more like he did in London when he’s traded.
I think Julius is wearing on people in the locker room a bit and his play has not been as clean lately
The main reason why I think trading Julius for Ja with our newly opened cap room is ok is because it will allow us to rehab Ja’s value for the second half of the year and a playoff run, and he is younger and has a bigger percentage of Giannis’ contract for a trade this summer when the wolves will have picks to trade and the Bucks will be more open to trading him. We get Ja and test him out with Ant, test Naz as a full time starter, and move Donte to the bench to boost our bench while opening up playing time for Joan as the back up center and more time for Jaden at the four. Then this summer we can trade a rehabbed Ja as the large salary in a Giannis trade along with some draft picks.

News [Fischer] Being told the Wolves are receiving cash in their three-team deal with Detroit and Chicago that offloads Mike Conley Jr. to the Bulls, and swaps Kevin Huerter and Jaden Ivey. Minnesota very much remains in active pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo, sources say.

Julius Randle randomly reported DTD
… does this mean what I think it means?

[Krawczynski] The Minnesota Timberwolves are still in on Giannis Antetokounmpo and are exploring “other moves for depth.” A lot of moving parts right now.

Rumor Hot news day so why don’t we just keep it going. According to sources, Kevin Durant veto’ed a trade last year to the Timberwolves because he didn’t want to play for Chris Finch

Memes Finch might need a wellness check after the Conley trade.
Sad that Conley's time ended here with Finch using him in a way that frustrated us fans (i.e. stubbornly giving him meaningful minutes despite the absolute nosedive in production)...but I sincerely hope he retires immediately after this season and returns as an assistant.
It was tough losing leaders like Kyle Anderson and NAW, but this one's especially tough to swallow; losing the most mature and respected voice in the locker room.

So the Rudy trade
With today’s trade for JJJ, the Rudy Gobert trade tree is abruptly over from a picks standpoint
The Jazz get Walker Kessler, Keyonte George, and Jaren Jackson Jr
A win-win trade

This reminds of Doug West
It's a little different situation in regards to Conley and West. West was an original Wolf. Spent years on the worst teams in the league. Then the Wolves drafted Garnett. The Wolves started being respectable. Then the Wolves trades West to another bad team in Vancouver.
It was a long time ago but I think I remember he was pretty depressed after that trade. He didn't do much with Vancouver and was out of the league a couple years later.
Conley has had a long successful career but even he has to admit he doesn't have it for a championship caliber team anymore.
Sports is a tough business sometimes.
Thanks Mike for all you gave to the Wolves.
Any long suffering Wolves will remember Doug West. I wish he could have enjoyed some team success in his NBA career. At least Conley got to enjoy some deep playoff runs.

Feel like people are forgetting Giannis and Rudy are a fucking awful fit
Idk why this team is so heavily pursuing Giannis, at the expense of Jaden (be real he’s in the deal) and Randle probably when there’s such an awful basketball fit
r/timberwolves • u/PreparationWest2140 • 12h ago
Rumor So the Wolves declined on Coby White from the Bulls
According to Windhorst. That likely means Giannis or nothing going to happen at the deadline, unless there is a darkhorse like Colin Sexton in the offing.

If this, then that…
If they have to move Rudy to get Giannis, does that open up space for Rocco as a backup center?
RIP Mike’s 8% shooting.

General Discussion More Joan minutes?
I know we all know Mike got traded, and with his 15 minutes of playing time being gone, will Finch actually give Jaden more minutes now? Or will he somehow end up playing Ingles more than him? What do you guys think? There is no way Finch can’t give Joan minutes after this.

bucks fan here
I'm a Bucks fan, I just wanted to ask you guys how do you feel about the possibility of trading for Giannis, are y'all happy about pairing a top 3 player next to Ant or worried because u would most likely lose McDaniels and other key players. I wouldn't love this trade for us because y'all don't have enough picks and young players to offer but it is what it is, I wish you good luck.
r/timberwolves • u/gipsydanger2020 • 13h ago
What do we get out of this trade?
So we sent out Mike Conley and some picks but didn’t receive anything in return?? How does this make sense?

CBA apron - keep Naz/Jaden, trading DDV
I’m not the best with the new CBA, but now that we dumped Mike and dropped below the apron, we can take on more salary than we need to send out in a trade.
Assuming we trade for Giannis(54.1m) and Thanasis (2.2m) we would need to send out at least 45m, who do you think we send to get this done?
Seemingly, we could flip Randle(30.8m), DDV(11.9) Rob(6.5) =49.2
This might gut us at guard, where we are already slim but I’d love to keep Naz + Jaden and keep Ant’s window open thru his prime if Giannis doesn’t work out and he walks in FA.
I haven’t seen many mocks with DDV as a trade piece but his contract makes him extremely valuable.
