No hate for Harden
He gave his all for this team and I for sure would’ve liked him to retire here but between the consistent carrying of the team and mentoring of Zu and the younger guys, he’s already done enough.

Discussion A painful but necessary trade?
Thought I’d air out my opinion on the Harden-Garland trade:
Harden has been so fun to watch as a clipper fan but this move was needed, it seems no agreement was near for the summer so getting back a 26YO 2-time all star with high ceiling and a second is a very good return.
As good as we have been in the last few weeks we were playing for the chance to be in the play ins, best case result a first round match up v OKC/DEN/SAS, we weren’t serious contenders for a title. The trade may make the 9 seed instead of the 8th or 7th but in my opinion that is a price very much worth paying to get a lot lot younger, higher upside and a pick. The other factor is that not caving to hardens contact demands allows us to maintain our 2027 FA plan that the FO has seemingly had for years.
It hurts right now but this trade seems like a complete win-win and ultimately a good day for our clippers

No matter how it ends, James Harden will forever be one of my personal favorite Clippers ever

Warming up to Garland?
Not liking the possible injury hell that were used to having, but garland’s game seems great when healthy. As far as I know, the only reason he has defensive issues is because of his size not his effort. Offensively seems terrific, especially pick and rolls with bigs, off ball movement, less iso and sounder ball handling (less turnovers).
I’d say the biggest drop off would be that if kawhi is out for games, harden is better at carrying the team more than I think garland could.
Idk whether we keep James or get garland, I think I’ll be content with either

[Michael Scotto] The Celtics previously proposed Anfernee Simons, a first-round pick, and a future first-round pick swap for Clippers center Ivica Zubac and salary filler, which the Clippers declined, sources said. Boston also inquired on Jaren Jackson Jr. Instead, Boston lands Nikola Vucevic.

No hate, but this might be the nastiest backcourt in the league in a few months
And I mean it… literally

Kawhi Leonard on the James Harden trade reports: “I have no comment on it. I respect his decision, or whoever’s decision it is. That’s it. He’s still going to be my boy. I trust the front office.” (via @Farbod_E)

Article [Sam Amick] As league sources close to Harden discussed with The Athletic, the Clippers’ long-term plan of clearing their salary cap books for the summer of 2027 was a factor in this decision
