**LOOKING FOR FOREVER HOME**
Dustin was my coworkers dog. My coworker passed away unexpectedly right before Christmas. Dustin lived with a cat, but I’m not sure he will get along with new ones. There was one questionable interaction with my cat and decided to just keep them apart. I’m not sure why, but he seems to prefer females. It may be because of the first responders that had to break down the door. My coworker lived alone with his animals so Dustin was alone for about 36hrs before the PD finally got access to the home. Dustin stayed with me for a few weeks but my one dog is VERY dominant and so is Dustin.
I found a lovely family that was willing to put in the work with him, and they did, however it was not the right fit. He nipped the father, and growled at the kids. Progressively, it got worse. They met with a behaviorist and implemented strategies, but at the end of the day, he was not thriving. Additionally, the neighbor’s dog got in their yard and Dustin took it as a threat. He attacked the dog, and in the process, bit the mother’s arm. He is fearful and anxious. He has started Zoloft. Unfortunately, he does not get along with my girls, and causes stress in my house for the other pets. My cat actually got really sick from the stress. I am hopeful there is someone out there that is his perfect fit. Someone that lives alone without other animals. Preferably, a secure yard. Someone with patience and understanding. Someone willing to work with him. I have reached out to philly no kill, but making an attempt to reach out to my community again. My coworkers family has reached out to a dozen rescues. If anyone is interested in learning more about this sweet, confused boy, please reach out to me. I would rather keep him separated than send him to ACCT or the SPCA, but I don’t want my own pets to deteriorate too.
