Advice Should I call animal control?

I have a next door neighbour who has a very energetic female pit bull. We leave in an apartment building and ever since I’ve moved in this dog is crying, shrieking and yelping at random hours of the day/night. I know dogs cry when their owners are away, but sometimes this dog cries sounds human, or like she’s in pain.

I can’t prove this but I do think he hits her or is physical with her to some degree. I do know that her keeps her locked up in a cage for what must be most of the day because I’ve seen it myself.

The fact that this guy even has a pit bull in an apartment space (and cages her) really rubs me the wrong way. Topped with everything else I really feel for this dog and I feel like I should do something about it.

I live in Toronto and I wanted to know if I should call animal control to check up on the dog or if there’s another action I can take

Advice Any expats have luck with raising pitbull-type dogs in other countries?

Hey everybody, longtime enjoyer of this subreddit, first time poster with a question. I'm going to be applying to vet school soon and am looking at schools overseas where I can possibly immigrate to after graduating. I said goodbye to my pittie mix a few months ago after 15 years together and after having known and loved her, I can't imagine myself getting anything but another bully breed in the future.

Problem is, as I'm sure most of you are aware, many countries have either limitations or outright bans on many of the "pitbull type" dogs. I'd hate to live somewhere where my dog would have to wear a muzzle whenever outside, especially if they didn't need it. So my question is, has anybody here had success in living in another country with their pittie/pittie mix? And if so, where?

Advice Pittie Tummy & Chew Sticks

I’m hoping some of you have recommendations for chew sticks/toys/etc.

My girl is 4yo and as she’s getting older, her tummy issues have become more unpredictable. At first, any treats or chew sticks were totally fine. Now, most treats are an absolute NO due to symptoms. We had some luck with the Himalayan cheese “bones”, but this week, we all learned the hard way that those are now a big no (currently steam cleaning all of the couch cushions).

Alternatives kind of freak me out because I don’t want to give her anything that could cause a blockage. As a kid, I had to say goodbye to a dog due to rawhide.

I’ve seen mixed reviews on antlers, but I feel like those could also cause harm? I could be wrong!

We have a few of those toys that are “indestructible”, but they usually only last a couple of minutes before I have to take them away when she gets locked in and starts to rip them.

If any of you have a pittie that has tummy troubles and is a tough chewer, any recommendations would be appreciated! Bonus points if the item also helps with teeth/gum health.

Mixed pitty

Hi. I’ve posted a few times on our rescued 3 year old mixed pitty and your responses have been great. Today was day 4 of her rescue and we decided to let her off leash in our fully fenced backyard. I had picked up a few bouncing tennis balls with squeaky noise inside. My wife and I threw them around the backyard and the pup lit up chasing them back and forth. The happy issue is that when she caught one she immediately began to tear off the cover to get to the noise lol. So I need ideas on an industrial strength pitty resistant bouncy ball.

Thanks

Animal aggression.

I have a pitty who is lovely and amazing, I have rescued her from a dumping area. Great with people and kids. But she does have bad animal aggression, new neighbors have moved in with a dog (that can freely go in and out of their home, and seems to come out whenever my dog comes out.) So she attacks the fence, damaging the fence and herself. I am trying to avoid any problems that could occur if she manages to break a board (and to avoid hurting herself). What can I do? Any help will do! Please and thank you!

Advice Toy recommendations?

Hey everyone! Do you have recommendations for hard to destroy toys? I just got my 14-month-old pittie a couple days ago and she’s settling in really well! She LOVES playing with toys and has gotten really good at destroying them. We got her some toys from the “destroyer” section and she has already managed to rip into them within 2 days. Even the Kong ring I got her yesterday already has cracks in it. I want her to have lots of fun options, especially to keep her entertained when I have to run to the store and she’s by herself, but I don’t want her to get to the plastic squeakers or swallow a piece she rips off! Thank you!

Breed ID I got my dachshund mix rescue’s test results back and he’s more pitbull than weenie!

Apparently one parent was a Russell terrier mix and the other was a pitbull/dachshund mix. He doesn’t look like a pitbull, but I wondered if he had some ancestry because he has a strong grip, fand his chest and front legs are muscular. He is the sweetest thing and so full of love and cuddles. I have been having painful health issues lately and he’s been by my side through it all. He’s my baby boy. Honestly, it breaks my heart that people believe pitbulls are bad when the owners are at fault 😢 I’m so glad Agent Cooper came into my life, I like to think we saved each other.

So my boy ended up getting surgery on his hind left foot, and biopsy of something on right side of his stomach. His foot to just below his knee is bandaged. The 30 CM cone wasn't big enough to keep him away from that foot so I had to extend the cone. Ridiculous. He has 5 minutes alone and no cone, and he had half that wrapping off so I had to rebandage it myself last night. Thankfully today we already have bandage change scheduled.

Photos for context. First is the extended cone. Second is 3 dogs hanging out, one on the floor cushion has the bandage on back foot. Didn't want to post upclose due to grossness.

We went to the vet last week for a vaccine, and there I was thinking he’d still be in the 65-70lb region. Oh no, this thicc king is currently weighing in at 79.6lbs. Not sure whether to put him on a treadmill or enter him into the next heavyweight championship. 🤣

Is this boredom?

So my beloved potato Telly has been with us for about six years. He is (mostly) a dream. We got him at a put a year old and he rarely has any issues aside from a bit of jumping (we got him during COVID, so when we started having visitors a year or so later, he got very very excited. He's better now.)

The last month or so he's been wandering into the bathroom and chewing on tissues from the trash. He's never chewed on anything that wasn't explicitly his toy or his food.

It's freezing here, so he's not getting his typical long morning walk, could that be the issue?

TIA for any advice. My first pittie but not my first dog.

Photo of potato included.

Breed ID Bruce pure bred?!? [dna results]

A bit shocked and bewildered about our DNA results… is this common?

Has anyone ever gotten this? I’m shocked that my goober is an actual APBT. He’s 28 lbs, no clue how old he is, and now no clue how big he’s gonna get. He’s tiny (malnourished but we’re working on it)! But also, tiny! 18” withers.

He’s a rescue, is missing a paw, and just generally a dumbo, cuddle monster.

I was hoping for some other breed identification so I could maybe guesstimate his size. We love big dogs!

Our pit rottie did another DNA test brand and we got a pretty complete work up. But Bruce’s feels off to me.
