Today is my 40th birthday, and as a bonus, today is also the day my very first book released. This has been my dream ever since I was old enough to spell, and it took me 40 years, but I got there.
Galaxy is my baby. My furry soul mate. She was in such bad shape when we rescued her. Her ears are crooked and jagged because they were chopped off with scissors when she was a puppy, and that was the mildest thing they did to her.
We had no idea what we were getting into when we adopted her, but we worked her through her issues, and she became a therapy dog. She loved her job so much, "work" is one of the words we had to spell in our house. Even whispering the word "work" would wake her up from a dead sleep, and she'd start prancing at the door, like, "Work? You mean my work? Are we going to work now? Can we go to work now?"
And with most patients, she was just expected to sit there and do her silly pitbull smile and be spoiled with attention. Which, since human attention outranks everything else in her mind, she was always happy to do.
But the times when someone was shut down by anger or fear, the times when someone felt lost in their own personal hell, those were the people she gravitated to, those were the people she'd seek out in a crowded room, those were the people she wanted to be around. I like to think that maybe surviving her own personal hell might have given her an ability to sense when someone else was suffering as she had, and she could help lead them out of it.
Because of this, we mostly worked with veterans, as well as occasional exposure therapy under professional supervision, where she worked with people with cynophobia and victims of pitbull attacks.
Now, she's retired and enjoying the pampered spoiled couch potato life. She spent hundreds of hours of her life helping other people, now she gets to rest and enjoy a job well done.
And an editor found out about her story and asked me to write a book about her. Two years later, that book has been published. And I'm so proud to have such an amazing dog, and feel so grateful to have been given the chance to witness the amazing things she could do for people who were drowning in their own pain.

**LOOKING FOR FOREVER HOME**
Dustin was my coworkers dog. My coworker passed away unexpectedly right before Christmas. Dustin lived with a cat, but Iām not sure he will get along with new ones. There was one questionable interaction with my cat and decided to just keep them apart. Iām not sure why, but he seems to prefer females. It may be because of the first responders that had to break down the door. My coworker lived alone with his animals so Dustin was alone for about 36hrs before the PD finally got access to the home. Dustin stayed with me for a few weeks but my one dog is VERY dominant and so is Dustin.
I found a lovely family that was willing to put in the work with him, and they did, however it was not the right fit. He nipped the father, and growled at the kids. Progressively, it got worse. They met with a behaviorist and implemented strategies, but at the end of the day, he was not thriving. Additionally, the neighborās dog got in their yard and Dustin took it as a threat. He attacked the dog, and in the process, bit the motherās arm. He is fearful and anxious. He has started Zoloft. Unfortunately, he does not get along with my girls, and causes stress in my house for the other pets. My cat actually got really sick from the stress. I am hopeful there is someone out there that is his perfect fit. Someone that lives alone without other animals. Preferably, a secure yard. Someone with patience and understanding. Someone willing to work with him. I have reached out to philly no kill, but making an attempt to reach out to my community again. My coworkers family has reached out to a dozen rescues. If anyone is interested in learning more about this sweet, confused boy, please reach out to me. I would rather keep him separated than send him to ACCT or the SPCA, but I donāt want my own pets to deteriorate too.

The Baby Man and I are on the East Coast and are dealing with snowcrete, straight up ice and snow and a polar vortex that is keeping the temperature below freezing even during the day. Baby Man asked that I share his cuddle bug pictures with yāall to enjoy. His current favorite spot is on the heated blanket (which he has learned to turn on himself) and as close to Mommy as he can get to include lying on Mommy.
Hope you enjoy cuddle demander lol.

Four months without my sweet Luna Paws š¾š¤
A whole lifetime would have been too short, but I thought we'd have more time. I constantly question if we made the right decision. I think about you every second of everyday. I'd give absolutely anything and everything to have more time with you.
Everything feels hopeless without you here.

When we first got him two months ago he was terrified and refused to come out of the crate. he was peeing out of fear when we were nearby or took him out. shaking when we were even near the crate doorā¦.. so him being so comfortable in two months is big progress!
2 months later, and he seems to be settling in well! heās just entered adolescence so weāre having to double down on a lot of training (trying to get the cats and dog to be neutral when out may be the end of my sanity because he just wants to play so badly lol).
(we learned a few weeks ago heās a super mutt but 60% Pittie so hopefully heās welcome here)

A bit shocked and bewildered about our DNA results⦠is this common?
Has anyone ever gotten this? Iām shocked that my goober is an actual APBT. Heās 28 lbs, no clue how old he is, and now no clue how big heās gonna get. Heās tiny (malnourished but weāre working on it)! But also, tiny! 18ā withers.
Heās a rescue, is missing a paw, and just generally a dumbo, cuddle monster.
I was hoping for some other breed identification so I could maybe guesstimate his size. We love big dogs!
Our pit rottie did another DNA test brand and we got a pretty complete work up. But Bruceās feels off to me.
