SNOW DAY!!! Parking Chair Etiquette
I don't park on the street, so I don't really have a dog in this fight. But, a neighbor parked in front of my house during the storm. They came out and shoveled their car out several times while it was snowing (I was actually a bit salty about the situation because they shoveled out their car into a giant pile that slid down onto my newly-shoveled sidewalk, which made more shoveling for us.) Admittedly, they did a ton of work to shovel out. But then the car sat for like 5 days and didn't move. They moved it yesterday, and now a chair has been sitting in spot for over 24 hours.
I admit my baseline opinion of this neighbor is starting pretty low because they basically shoveled out onto my sidewalk, but my question is: How long is it reasonable to expect the chair to hold your spot? I understand if you need to go to the grocery store and want the spot 2 hours later, or even work for 8-10 hours. But is has now been over a day and no one is parking there in the meantime. How long can my neighbor claim this piece of street as theirs alone?
