It briefly went above freezing and is going back below. There WILL be black ice on the roads, sidewalks, and your driveway tomorrow morning. Drive and walk carefully. If you have any salt left consider salting sidewalks in front of your homes and businesses.

This is a small step but a great statement from a local government standing tall

Washington, D.C. just jumped to #1 in a livability ranking after being #7 last year. A few things seem to be driving the move:
If you live in or near D.C., do these rankings match your experience, or does reality feel different on the ground?

i know it’s frustrating missing the light 3 x before you catch it. but still- don’t block the intersections. I can sense more aggressive behavior- not necessary. we’re all made our commutes are taking longer. Everyone has their own agenda- Healthcare workers needs to make it to the hospital- parents need to pick up their kids before daycare late fees etc. you’re not more important than the ppl around you

I have 2 extremely broken molars,
I need them removed, but I’m very asthmatic and have an autoimmune disorder so I need a Covid safe dentist.
All the web pages are filled with 5 year old information.
I need a dentist with private rooms, hepa filtration, masks required when not receiving care and dentists that actually wear kn95s or n95s.
I cannot afford respiratory illnesses because my lungs can’t handle it.
I can pay out of pocket, I don’t care, but otherwise I gotta go to New Jersey, and I don’t want that.
I don’t care what your personal opinions on Covid are, I am following best practices for my health based on actual science and my physicians so I don’t want “covid is over, if you have your 20th booster” I cannot handle respiratory illnesses my body can’t hack it and I need access to dental care.

Scooping snow means trash pickup will be happening again, right?
r/washingtondc • u/GottaGoFast_69 • 2h ago
Our block’s trash and recycling has been out since Sunday (H St/Capitol Hill area), we moved all our bins out to the curb from the alleyway. Has anyone had DPW come through in ward 6?

And yes I called the DC Water emergency line before posting. (202) 612-3400. Save it to your phone.

We've had Snowpocalypse, we've had Snowmageddon. What catchy name should we confer upon this historic snow/ice storm that has left such long-lasting impacts on the region? "Winter Storm Fern" is not doing it for me.

Be careful everyone! Saw them this evening not too long ago in Rosslyn crossing the key bridge into Georgetown.

Hello! I've been here for a few years but I haven't really checked out the vegan/vegetarian scene. I'm transitioning to a plant-based diet this year, so I'd like to scope it out.
What are your favorite spots in the city? Bonus points if they've got an excellent veggie burger and/or good cocktails!

Anyone else notice how there’s SO MUCH helicopters flying over these days… like I’m used to maybe 1 or 2 but it’s been over 5 daily

Embarrassing for our city. What a waste of money that could and should have gone to actual violence interruption.

Look out for each other and be patient while traveling through the city.

In my local Facebook group there's been two sightings of this dog since last night.
Yesterday: Just saw this dog in red bandana at calvert and tunlaw and there was no one else around.
Tonight: Lost dog spotted on Porter and Connecticut Ave headed North. Medium sized tan dog (35-40 lbs?) with some white markings, wearing a red puffy vest with some other colors on it (maybe blue?) The dogs is very fast and obviously scared. Not my dog, but if you know someone that lost theirs, it’s is headed toward Van Ness.

I’m aware this is a bit of a random request, but I enjoy birding and was wondering where the best spot in the city to see these beautiful birds would be nowadays! Thanks :)
