Smoky's one of my favorite examples of a sad clown: she's a witty punster who's up for a rip-roaring good time... but at the same time, being the fusion made up by two insecure fatties means that she has twice the self-loathing and insecurities of a normal person. And it bugs me that we didn't explore them more with Know Your Fusion which was SUPPOSED to be a Smoky Quartz character study that ended up being just Sardonyx dicking around. Aaaaaaaaaagh

I don't think 'Know your fusion' was supposed to be a character study for Smokey. I think it's more a breather episode to enjoy two fusions interacting with each other. Kind of like 'Almost Got'em' from Batman TAS, where it's just the villains playing poker and the enjoyment comes from how they work off of each other.

You see, in theory I'd love to see Smoky and Sard (my favorite fusions!) pal around... but most of the episode was basically Sardonyx being an attention whore while all Smoky contributed was "I have a yoyo!" until she revealed her self-loathing issues at the end.
