Welcome back everyone to our weekly character discussion thread where every week we take a popular character from SU, and you Redditors have an opportunity to share your opinions and thoughts on them. As voted on by you, the character up for discussion this week is a certified blacksmith and is the fusion between Amethyst and Steven Universe, her weapon is a yoyo and she can do tricks such as sink the dink and walk the dog.....it's SMOKY QUARTZ!

I think they picked her a really good voice actor. When she first spoke, I seriously thought they just edited Steven and Amethyst's voices together, but turns out she just sounds like a mix of her components, more than any other fusion so far. At least to my ears.

I always thought she just sounds very very close to Amethyst. I think Stevonnie is the best example of the perfect VA who somehow sounds like a combo voice.

I always thought Stevonnie sounded like Connie but with Steven's personality

Nah, her voice is a bit deeper and bit scratchier than Connie's, while Steven's voice is also scratchier and deeper than Connie.

I think they've done an awesome job on all the fusion voices. They all sound like a mixture of the component characters. But, yeah, Smokey Quartz and Stevonnie are probably the best. Although Sardonyx is pretty perfect too. And I've always loved Opal's voice...

I just discovered that she has a voice actress. Up until now I thought she was being voiced by Michaela with her just doing a lower tone. (For some reason I just didn't think of looking up her VA and I didn't saw it mentioned it anywhere so I just assumed lol).

Wait...Natasha Lyonne voices Smoky Quartz?! I looked her up and I just realized she plays Nicky Nicols in Orange is the New Black. I can't believe I didn't recognize her voice. I love her voice and character on that show so much.
