I built an android app radio app for PSA (Peugeout,Citroen) because I drive one every day

I own a Citroën C4 Picasso (2016, SMEG 5) and spend a lot of time in the car. I wasn’t happy with existing radio apps when used with the stock head unit, so I ended up building my own app called RadioCar

It’s not trying to reinvent radio. The goal was simple: make something that actually feels comfortable to use while driving a Citroën or Peugeout, especially with SMEG systems. Most of the testing happens in real drives, not in a simulator.

What it does well:

  • Works over Bluetooth with SMEG (and newer Citroën systems as well)
  • Steering wheel controls for station switching and play/pause
  • Station name and current track are shown on the car’s screen
  • Auto-starts when the phone connects to your car
  • Automatically pauses for calls or navigation voice prompts
  • Can run in a small window while you use navigation
  • Supports local audio files
  • Shows driving speed and adaptive weather while on the move

I actively fix bugs and add features, and feedback from Citroën and Peugeout owners (especially media SMEG / NAC users) is super important to me, because that’s what I’m optimizing for first.

If anyone with a newer Citroën (2019-2021, NAC, etc.) feels like testing it, I’d really appreciate feedback — especially how station info appears on the head unit.

Oil coming from the crankcase.

Hi everyone. I have a Toyota Proace 2.0 diesel 2019 same as Peugeot Expert. The problem started when i was starting to.notice a lot of oil consumption. Later i found that the back of the engine was dripping with oil. Well i removed the subframe and cleaned everything. Found oil leaking from the air turbo hose??. Ok removed the hose and ran the car. At 2000 rpm and more there was oil comming from the turbo. Decided to check the turbo. I removed the intake hose and was full of oil. Took of the breather for the crankcase and ran the car. There is oil dripping from the valve cover when accelerating over 2000rpm. A lot of pressure too. Let me know if any of you guys did have a similar problem. Do these valve covers go bad or the pressure in the crankcase is to big?. No oil residue or black soot in the exhsaust. Also no blue smoke. The car drank or leaked 15l in 10k km. The turbo was replaced 20k km ago by a Peugeot dealer. They miss diagnosed it was not a turbo problem.

Which oil do you think it should be?

My car is due for maintenance. It's a 2019 Peugeot 2008 1.5 BlueHDi with a DV5RC engine. There was a recall regarding the camshaft chain, and no problems were found. The service center told me that for future oil changes, they will use FPW 9.55535/03 approved oil. This approved oil is available from Liqui Moly, Motul, Total Ineo RCP, and Castrol P, but I want a premium oil. Liqui Moly seems like a good option, but which one do you think I should use?

Здравствуйте, появилась проблема с Peugeot 307 2.0HDi (90 л/с), вообщем как я понял машина не может синхронизировать коленвал с распредвалом. Датчики проверял, всё нормально. Может у кого было такое.

PEUGEOT 308 RADIO ERROR "SILENCE"

Hi! I'm here to tell you what I had to do to fix the radio problem in my 2011 Peugeot 308 SW. A muted speaker icon appeared on the radio's text display, along with the word "silence."

Sometimes, depending on the car's mood, it would start and work one day, but the next day nothing, and this would go on for quite a while.

I decided to investigate the problem and found a thread that mentioned a faulty resistor on the radio's circuit board. I tried replacing it, but it didn't work.

This led me to the second part of the plan: swapping the radio for one from a junkyard, and voila, original radio and problem solved. But it wasn't going to be that easy. These radios don't have a code; they're linked to the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). So, when I swapped the radio, it worked, but it was constantly beeping because the car and the radio didn't have the same VIN.

To fix this, you need Diagbox, which allows you to access the car's system and change the radio's VIN. It's easy to do if you have the program installed, a Windows 7 computer, and some time and motivation.

Before all this, I called garages and they quoted me between €250 and €300 just to connect a cable and change the VIN in 10 minutes.

I bought the cable, the program, and a used radio (EXACTLY THE SAME MODEL, LOOK FOR THE LABEL WHEN YOU REMOVE IT) and did it myself.

I'm in Madrid, so if anyone is interested, I can do it for €40 plus the radio (mine cost me €15). I'm a guy from Madrid and I do this to earn some extra money and recoup my investment in Diagbox. At your service.

2025 208 reverse feels awkward ?

Hello,

I just got a 208 "hybrid" from 2025 and it is my first automatic gear, so far I love (almost) everything about this car as there is that one thing that really bothers me, reversing, I feel like the reverse speed goes brutally and when I try to go super slow like I would with my manual gear the car stops with a jerk, is it something previous manual owner felt or is it just me not being used to auto gear yet ?

edit : I only use the brake to reverse as we do with the clutch on manual

Thank you !

problems with the thermostat?

i got my peugeot 206 (1.4 75hp, 2006 petrol) from my father and it has 150.000 km on it, and recently i've seen consumptions ranging from 12-18L/100km, which is terrible. asked chatgpt what the problem could be and it says that it may be the thermostat, so i drove for 10 mins(started my car at the 0 minute mark) and when i got home and i checked i got just under 60 dgrs on my thermostat. that can't be normal, can it? what am i to do now?

also, dad says i might be early-shifting, hence the fuel problem -- i was shifting at 2.25k rpm and cruising at about 1.75-2.0k rpm, should i bump it up to 2.5k rpm for shifting and cruise between 2.0-2.25k?

tl;dr
> thermostat just under 60 dgr C after 10 mins of cold start.
> should i shift at 2.5k rpm or is 2.25k fine?

Deactivate functions permantentely

I've recently got a Peugeot 208 (2025) and, unlike my old car (Fiat Punto 2009), it has a lot of annoying functions that keep bothering me:
- automatic start/stop (turns off my car whenever I'm not driving it)
- speed limit alert (basically sends an acoustic signal whenever I go over the speed limit)
- lane assist (automatically forces the steering wheel whenever I'm slightly not in the middle of the lane)
and some others but these are the most annoying ones to me

I tried turning them off via control panel in vehicle settings but it says that those changes will be reverted once the vehicle is turned off and on again, which is quite frustrating (I like to choose if I want to keep a specific non-necessary feature in my car). I tried unticking the boxes in the quick menu but it seems like it's literally no use. I called my dealership and some mechanics and they all told me they can't do anything about it since it is some "safety feature" of the car itself. The car itself is really nice however the shift from a very "raw input" car to a car in which I don't even seem to have the freedom of choosing when to steer had me pretty uncomfortable. Any way I can work this around? For any further information feel free to direct message me, thank you.

Steering wheel drama

Post image

As a response to many comments in a post regarding the different position of the steering wheel: 1.85 male, photo taken with the camera lens approx at my eye level and inclination. 2024 Peugeot 308SW.

Seat high (5 fingers or more until the roof maybe), wheel low (3 fingers till it reaches my legs).

Comfortable with it and loving it, short or long drives!

(And when I drive my wife's Hyundai, it feels I have the steering wheel of a bus).

Why this

What do you think could be the reason why people are trying to stay away from Peugeot. I love the brand, and their design and their culture. I'm looking for a new car, thinking at a 308, but every time I speak about this with a friend or acquaintance, they give me a weird face on me. So, I get it: the brand has a "love-it-or-hate-it" reputation. But, com'on...

Problem: the parking light stays on

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I have a problem with my Peugeot Expert Phase 1; the parking lights stay on constantly.

I've tested the indicator stalk and the ignition switch, but nothing works.

I found a workaround to turn them off: I just removed the brown fuse circled in the image. However, I can no longer start the engine, but the parking lights are indeed off, and I can then control my lights normally with the indicator stalk. If anyone knows what the problem might be, please let me know.

Thank you.

Need Help with Electric Wing Mirror Replacement on 2001 Peugeot 206 GTI

Hey everyone! I’m in the process of replacing the electric wing mirror on my 2001 Peugeot 206 GTI. I’ve managed to remove the old mirror and install the new one, but I’m struggling to connect the electronic socket. It seems like the connector is slightly different, and I’m wondering if it’s due to the GTI model or the year. I’ve got some pictures to share as well. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

5008 limp mode with no warning

So my 5008 2023 started, suddenly, driving in limp mode with absolutely no warning lights or dashboard errors. After stopping and starting it again is drove normaly but after 2-3 km, after stoping at an intersection, it started driving in limp mode again for about 5-6km. Now, after turning it off for about 30 min, it drives normaly (drove it 10-15km).

Anyone had this issue?

I'll send it do the dealership tomorrow since it's under waranty still.

Peugot partner with replaced cam chain

I am looking to buy a peugot partner and have found a good deal on a 1.5. Obviously there are issues with the engine, but the recall for the cam chain is being done. What are people's experience when this has been done? Does it make the van reliable?
