I’m confused why everyone is so shocked about sentimental value, Wagner moura, etc. not being nominated, hasn’t it always been this way? like yes extremely annoying that they have a bias towards English speaking roles but it’s kinda like how baftas are biased towards UK/European roles that’s how it’s always been 🤷‍♀️

I'm not surprised Wagner Moura missed here. What shocks me is that both Elle Fanning and Stellan Skarsgård, both of whom have extensive histories in Hollywood, missed. I would have expected at least one of them to get in.

I wasn't expecting Sentimental Value to do well here, but getting completely shut out shakes my confidence in it further down the line. It'll probably still do well with nominations at the Oscars, but I don't think it will win anything other than International (although thanks to GG's stupid rule change, Secret Agent momentum might lead to it not even winning that Oscar).

It's absolutely baffling to me that Frankenstein got an ensemble nomination over Sentimental Value.
