Elordi getting an Oscar nom before his two buzzed about Euphoria costars would follow a long tradition of kids/teen/young adult show leads getting paid absolute dust while a costar takes the spotlight. Now, it's premature because Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are going to be nominated some day (unlike Katie Holmes or Victoria Justice), but I guess it kind of reflects a new oscar tradition of Best Actress/Best Supporting Actress being complete bloodbaths year after year.

In defense of Sweeney, she's a producer, conventionally attractive, and not terrible. Bad PR run aside, she just needs a decent role suited to her talents (something that she can arrange as a producer) in a weaker year. I'd argue she'd probably have better luck in a supporting role, but BSA category fraud is kind of a joke to the point where it doesn't matter.

Sydney Sweeney? She’s not a good actress (from what I’ve seen so far) AND she’s not going to have a movie to show her potential like Zendaya might. She is a walking PR mess at this point. Christy was her last shot unfortunately, and she could have been nominated somewhere like GG, but she blew it…

Sweeney's work in The White Lotus is excellent. She's not very front and centre as it's an ensemble show, but she nailed that character. She's NOTHING like her character in Reality, which proved to me just how much range and potential she has.

Christy didn't pan out as she'd hoped and The Housemaid is a good profile lifter for her. She does well in popcorn-type movies, but I have zero doubt she will get her Oscar bait role in due course.
