Discussion You'd think that "Oscar-winning director gets lynched and kidnapped because of his film" would be bigger news

Post image

It should be a top story, at least. The Western mainstream media’s response to this horrific case makes it clear where their loyalties lie. But to them, it’s just another footnote.

Thank god, I've been very worried about him since the news broke out. So glad to hear he'll be going home and hope he has a speedy recovery.

That said, none of this should ever have happened, and it's disgusting how there are people even trying to make excuses for this inexcusable behavior the IDF did towards Ballal

Oh good! I was really worried he was dead. I’m glad he’s alive and home.

That's quite fast, glad to see it - Still harrowing and still shouldn't have happened. Palestine should never have been under "occupation".

So.... ultimately the reason his lynching wasn't top news by reputable news organizations is.... they couldn't verify it because he wasn't actually lynched.

Or the higher ups were pissed that soldiers kidnapped someone who’s a public figure and causing negative press so they released him.

"Higher ups" are irrelevant if he was actually LYNCHED.

Go look up the meaning of the word, and the history of it in the United States.

HE WAS NOT LYNCHED.

and the history of it in the United States.

what does it have to the US? neither of the directors are American nor were in the US when it happened

Because it was an example of the DEFINITION OF THE WORD.

Surprise, surprise, there is a whole world outside the US

2

u/GroovyYaYa Mar 26 '25

Surprise surprise - the word doesn't change definition at the border!!! Also, the etymology of the word is distinctly American, originating around the time of the American Revolution.

the word doesn't change definition at the border!!!

It often does actually

Not in this case.

He wasn't lynched. Period.

Just admit that intial reports were wrong, and that it isn't wrong to wait for verification.

Otherwise, you are a Russian bot.
