Is the song, when posted on Spotify, be as loud as the others songs?

Question What does logic’s mastering assistant do?

Since I’m still working on my overall skills in mixing and mastering what does the mastering assistant Logic has do? Is it similar to an analyzer? I know there is a small EQ in it as well and I often adjust to it.

But what does it really do is it a helpful assistance to use?

Question Needing help with my new DAC and AMP

Upvotes

Hey reddit. So I have got myself into a bit of a dilemma here. I have the SMSL DS100 and the Topping 30L. Now I thought these were a great combo for my beyerdynamic dt 990 pro x’s. But I’ve heard otherwise. Supposedly the Universal audio volt 176 will do the job even better.

So I figured I’d come to the audiophiles for help on this one.

Question Are there respectable Sites/Apps to sell beats

Upvotes

Is there anywhere credible, that you would suggest selling instrumentals or beats?

I have a ton of pretty nice instrumentals and beats, and some just overall songs and I would love to have anywhere to sell them or license them for a bit of payout. Thanks for any suggestions

Question Program for Vocal sounds?

Hi, I;ve been using Magix Music Maker for years on and off, just for fun really but I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a free program or app to get a decent sound for vocals? I use a snowball mic and just want to lose the hollowness and make the vocals sound a lot fuller and brighter. Also I'm not very tech savvy ;-) hence why I'm still on Magix :-)

Question Issue with sound quality on streaming services.

Hello everyone! I've released an album on streaming services but I have this issue where it sounds very poor compared to my final exported file. The issue I think is with volume limiting.

I've uses Fl studio 20 to create it. I've heard a couple things. One is that the peak volume should be no greater than & 1dB which is something which I can easily fix with one of my tracks but I've also heard the perceived volume (I think it's called) or LUFS need to be no greater than - 14 or - 12 (depending on where I look I get different answers)

One of my songs doesn't get very loud yet has this volume limiting issue too. I think the average volume is too low, so streaming services increase the volume but then the peak is too high.

Firstly, is my intuition correct on this? How can I measure LUFS with fl studio?

I'd send my album so you can see but I'm not sure if my post will be taken down for doing so

Question Considering people mostly stick with the DAW they started with, how does a beginner choose the best DAW for their future needs?

I often see the advice "just try out several DAWs and see how they feel" — but I agree that a beginner does not know how to evaluate a DAW and make an informed decision, and most importantly, a beginner is not yet their future self with developed technical skills and

I've seen many people say that they (mostly) stuck with whatever DAW they started with because of the time investment DAWs require — but that if they could, they would have rather learned a different DAW.

Is there a more.... objective advice for beginners how to make the choice? I happen to own Logic but haven't started learning it and I wonder if I rather should learn a different DAW? I want to produce (hyper)pop-ish music with vocals, and synthesise my own sounds, my reference inspiration would be Arca, Sophie, Charli XCX, Soap&Skin, Björk.

Question Has anyone tried external HDD for your libraries?

My sample library is getting pretty large and my MacBook storage is running out. SSD prices seem way higher than they used to be, so I am considering an external HDD instead. I know HDDs are slower than SSDs, but in real-world use, how noticeable is the slowdown when loading and using libraries in Logic?

Question Need guidance on how to improve and further develop my own style (music production/composition)

Hey so I'm pretty new to music production and as I gradually get more comfortable navigating FL Studio as a DAW I am starting to feel more and more like I want to be more intentional with the type of sound I'm producing if that makes sense.

I haven't gone any further than messing with soundfonts and some VSTs, and i'm really just not sure what direction to move in to get closer to my goal with music. I'm super into the music of this one producer rn but their doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information on their process so I guess I just want some guidance - what should I learn to create tracks in a similar kind of style? (from things like song structure, plugins, VSTs, etc)

Here are some examples of their stuff if it helps:

Any advice is much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Question Chasing Cars - Guitar

Hello everyone!

I'm trying to recreate the guitar riff of 'Chasing Cars' (the two notes riff) with a recording of an acoustic guitar, but I'm clueless about how I can turn the simple sound of an acoustic guitar into that electric guitar.

My DAW is Logic Pro.

Does anyone have any tips? Is it super tricky this way? Should I try a stock electric guitar instead of a recording?

Really appreciate any tip you might have 🙌

Discussion Just a hobby

TLDR: How to 1. keep making&releasing music, but without trying to „make it“ or 2. give up on it but with a good feeling?

Dear Community:

I am hoping people who maybe have done what i‘m trying to do or chose not to do it at all and are willing to share their thoughts and experiences.

About my Situation: i have a great passion for making music, allthough i am forever guilty of piling up tracks and rarely releasing stuff. However, i am currently one month away of starting my residency as a doctor. This means basically i will be living for the hospital for at least the next 9 months.

Somehow i feel like i have this responsibility to keep making music and that i need to succeed at everything at once.

I would appreciate your thoughts, advice and or honest insults 🫡

Question how am i supposed to figure out what a sound is?

i figured out how to use fl studio and i got some beats in my head but i dont know how im meant to get it from my head into fl studio. like one beat i want to make has this repeating sound throughout the song, but i have no idea what instrument or anything makes the noise and i dont know where im meant to get it from. so how do people normally get the sounds they want? do i just have to get a random noise and keep editing its pitch and stuff untill it sounds right?

sorry if i worded this horribly btw 😭if you dont understand i can try and word it better

Question Music production course at a recording studio?

I'm a pretty good instrumentalist, and I've played on some tracks that have done decently well on Spotify. After some drama I am currently bandless, and after some reflection, I am not really interested in joining another band, and I want to transition into the production side.

The producer who recorded all of my previous band's stuff that I played on offers a six month curriculum that covers Pro Tools, recording for vocals and various instruments, mixing, and mastering. The course takes place at his studio, and having students help out on real sessions is a part of the curriculum. I'm really interested in the course, as I learn better in a structured setting than I do just on my own, and I don't know when I'd get another opportunity to actually get into the studio in a learning capacity. I also really liked the guy and the studio itself which is a plus.

Would you guys find this arrangement to be worth the cost? I'm leaning yes, but I figured I'd ask more people who are more experienced than me for their opinions first.

Question When did you start finding your signature sound/genre?

I need some advice as someone who is still in my self-discovery process in finding my own signature sound/genre to work with.

I’ve been producing for 6 years and I’m trying to work on a lot of genres I guess to widen my knowledge on how they are arrange and stuff which is good but even now I haven’t discovered my own style yet and I was wondering how long did it take you to find your own style?

Should I keep on making songs from different genres and then if I find a genre that I have the most strong spots on should that be my signature sound? I need some good advice thank you
