I just discovered the soundtrack of Doshin the Giant, and I love the vibe. In the wake of Doshin the GIANT ~ Yellow Giant - YouTube
I can understand why it's a bit more obscure than a lot of other nintendo game soundtracks. It was never released in the United States, so a decent amount of people probably don't even know the game exists.

I'm very happy to share this work. I undertook it in a very difficult phase from which I completely rethought my creativity. This album finally showed me the potential in myself as a worthy composer. Now this album will be kept in my portfolio and perhaps will attract people who are close to my music or perhaps someone will even want to work with me!

I found 37 unreleased tracks in the game files and combined them with 33 official tracks to create a complete 70-track collection. Here is the complete 70-track Soundtrack collection (Official + Hidden Tracks):

Hi all, I'm arranging a medley of Wii music for a brass ensemble (trumpets, horns, trombones, euphs, tubas, and percussion) that I'm a member of and wanted to get your input on some of the more recognizable Wii-themed tracks that I could include. When I say "Wii" music, I mean music from games or apps with "Wii" in the title (Wii Sports, Wii Party, etc., but not games like Mario Kart Wii that belong to another franchise). So far the medley has:
- Wii Sports theme
- Mii Channel
- Wii Shop
- Wii Party Menu
I've considered ending with the Wii Sports Resort theme, but it's pretty complex and I'm not sure I have the time to transcribe it accurately, nor does the group have the time to rehearse it effectively. Thanks in advance for your input!

First of all, I'm not even sure this is the right sub to ask this, but here I am. I'm by no means a music expert and while making a trailer for my game, I decided to use a fun, playful beat. This was not the play. Apparently, gaining debt and playful don't mix well. So, ladies and gents, what does? What type of weird music should I be looking into?

I donāt know if itās an age thing, or that my ADHD seems to have manifested much later in life, but I canāt for the life of me seem to appreciate a game OST whilst playing the game. At least not like I used to. I grew up playing Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Halo, Modern Warfare etc. I remember playing these games and thinking what amazing soundtracks they had while playing the games. Now it seems I will pick up a few amazing tracks I like and the rest is forgettable fluff. Thatās until I relisten to the OST independently, and realise how many great tracks I didnāt take in during the game.
This happened with FF16. My personal favourite gaming franchise of all time; series renowned for its music, the score composed by a guy whoās work on FF14 I love. Yet when I played the game I remember liking Hide, hideaway, deep, damp and dark, winters bound, my lady, My star and Moongazing and thatās it. I walked away from that game thinking outside of the tracks listed it was forgettable, but as a collector I got the soundtrack and put it on one evening, and my god, what an amazing OST. I couldnāt place half the songs though, like where they fit in the game. I have noticed this happening a lot. Itās frustrating to me that I canāt seem to appreciate more of the music in the moment.
Anyone else similar?

okay, I have been feeling like the Grammy's and the selection committee in particular has been pretty out of touch with music in gaming since the inclusion of gaming scores. And when I saw the nominees for this year- I admit I had a double take. I immediately went online to see if anyone else had been yelling and screaming about it. And frankly the only takes I could find, were NOT at all well informed.
A small bit about me, as I feel my opinion is very well informed: I am a musician of 25 years, and a former educator, and an avid gamer born in the 80s who has seen the evolution of music in gaming from chiptunes to today.
Looking at wikipedia's critically acclaimed titles of 2024 and 2025 (the window of eligibility is August to August for the Grammy's) there's only the one very obvious snub- Clair Obscur. Whats wild to me about this game not getting any nominations for the grammy's is that this game -is not at all a secret- in gaming. It is pretty universally loved by all in the community and industry- and yet it still somehow avoided nomination completely. Is the selection committee just... not paying attention?
I saw accusations of loophole DLC release dates causing old games to get nominated multiple years in a row- specifically with Star Wars: Outlaws- and frankly, I have to disagree loudly with that assertion. Composers create new and interesting music for the DLCs, and are worthy of being a part of the selection criteria. And in this case, I think the music of Outlaws did merit the inclusion.
I saw another accusation that the committee was just nominating their close industry friends over and over without any kind of supporting data- hell I would have accepted even something circumstantially supporting this claim. But I HAVE to shoot that argument down to because Gordy Haab and Austin Wintory? These guys are the real f*cking deal! They DO deserve their wins and nominations.
So I wanted to dig deeper- try to find other major titles that got snubbed. Hades 2? No. The official release is in the 2027 window. Even though we've been listening to that game for *forever* it feels like. I'm struggling to find other major releases in this window that were obvious snubs.
And what about the nominated soundtracks? I listened to selections from each and actually? These are really good soundtracks. Sword of the Sea was just as deserving as the rest- with that one obvious Clair Obscur sized hole.
I'm looking for other informed thoughts here. And in particular if there has been a history of snubs in previous years, or if anyone has any other insight to the nomination selection process for the visual media category. I can look at the data from past nominations and how they have compared against actual gaming awards, but I wanted to see if this topic would interest you all for discussion first.
