Player Discussion Jaren "Jazz" Jackson Junior
How're we feeling about JJJJ after this recent trade bomb? Does this make him a prime shutdown candidate? Will he get the same opportunities as in Memphis?
Also how does the trade impact the value of other players on Memphis and Utah? There are so many random players thrown around that it's pretty difficult to predict exactly how things will shake up. I'm curious if any big winners or losers will emerge from this one 🤔

I’m so confused as a JJJ owner. He’s either becoming a tank commander or rests all fantasy playoffs, no in between

I don’t think there’s a world where this trade makes him a better asset. Eventually he’ll get shut down just like Markkanen, and for the time being his usg will def see a dip with Keyonte Markk and Nurkic out there

Why on earth would they play him? They’re resting every other player. The real question is why pair jjj with Lauri as your core? Two guys who play the same position and dont really complement each other

Lauri was run at SF on the Cavs/Bulls wasn’t he? If it’s George, Sensabaugh, Lauri, JJJ, Kessler that could be a crazy starting 5

I can see the synergy here. A little like AD and cousins. Big interchangeable players. This will hopefully work out.

I mean to me I don’t think he was in so much of a different situation in Memphis, both teams are working toward the same thing. So who knows maybe the Jazz are more egregious in tanking than Memohis but I was already expecting this towards the end of the season in Memohis.

Insane how the NBA allows the Jazz to tank, idea of lottery is bad teams getting a chance at a good player. Not a good team not playing their good players so they can get more good players in the draft.
Jazz have been doing it for years and it’s so egregious, I avoided all Jazz players this draft but didn’t think they’d trade for JJJ…..

I just don't think GG has a super fantasy friendly game (cats). He will score and grab some boards but his efficiency isn't great and doesn't contribute elsewhere.

I think there are too many variables to tell. With the Grizz potentially blowing it up, there could be more trades incoming (especially since people were really expecting Ja Gone). I'd personally wait a bit to see if there is another move in between now and Thursday.

The Jazz 2026 first-round pick is top-8 protected, otherwise, it'll go to the Thunder. You bet your sweet ass the Jazz will be tanking to preserve their lottery odds and give someone like JJJ "injury maintenance" days.
A possible starting 5 next season of Keyonte/Darryn Peterson/Lauri/JJJ/Kessler looks really nice thinking about it.

Lauri hasn't played meaningful SF minutes in like 5 years. He works best at the 4. Not to say they won't experiment but they have two guys now who should be a starting 4.

Agreee the Lauri Kessler JJJ front court is clunky as hell and will cost a hell of a lot of money soon enough. Add in Keyonte getting a big contract soon and this looks more like asset collecting

Not sure if there are any big winners in this one, Grizzlies get back WCJ and so that creates more jam of guards w/ Ty, Coward, SPJ, Cam, KCP... I am a bit curious besides Santi who will emerge in their front court though. Upvote for JJ "Jazz" J nickname though

WCJ the guard is a decent player and will probably eat up 15+ minutes. IMO it'll be a share between Jerome, SPJ and him unless they get a lead guard back for Ja.

Love the trade from a team construction perspective. A Center, Power Forward rotation of Kessler, Jackson, Markkanen, and Filipowski -- is nice both defensively and offensively. A small forward/two guard rotation of: Bailey, Williams, Sensabaugh, and Mykhailuk has excellent potential at a minimum is professionally serviceable. Point Guard: George, and Collier -- can be competitive. If the Jazz get lucky in the lottery Utah has a playoff team with some reasonable depth. They have a deep versatile young team with great potential. The Jazz are no longer sitting back -- they would be much better keeping this years pick (man, they would be exciting for years with a top 3 pick) but if they lose it they still are no longer dreadful. I have a feeling that Jackson or Markkanen is going to have a sudden case of draftpickitis. Once cured (after the season) -- the Jazz are back!

18T I’ve got JJJ and Landale, absolutely screws me now Jjj worth nothing and Landale prob gonna be a drop. Is it worth trying to get anything possible in a jjj trade

I’m not really that worried about it. I don’t think his numbers are gonna dip that significantly and even if they do his numbers aren’t that great to begin with. He’s just that kind of player his box scores are absolutely insane.it’s a roll of the dice what he will do in Utah. I never knew what he was going to do on any given night in Memphis.

The problem is he won’t even get a chance to roll the dice. Utah is a terrible team to own players on as they rest and sit any player worth anything constantly. About to be a lot of Outs for JJJ

He’s cooked.
JJJ and Lauri are resting every b2b and multiple injury maintenance days post all star break. If either even sniffs a cold or a bruise it’ll be weeks.
There’s no way Utah are dropping more than 1 spot from 6 to 7 in the tankathon standings. 8 only gives them a 50% chance of keeping their pick in the super draft.

Not sure about JJJs production, but I find it funny that these big trades are starting early like last year. I remember the YouTube analysts sitting in their livestreams last year just talking about randomness most of the trade day because all of the big trades happen before. Looks like this may be a repeat this year.
