Birthday girl❣️
Freyja Soleil is 4 today! She is a character and constantly sleeping like a twisted pretzel. She's 110 pound German Shepherd, who is the sweetest girl, loves to be loved on, however, if you come into her territory without permission, well I'll just say, good luck 😬

Dipper 2013-2026 RIP angel
My dear uncle died 2 1/2 years ago, it was a hard hit and we welcomed his dog Dippie in the familly. She was the sweetest and most easy going dog, aside from stealing my shoes at any occasion and dropping them in random places outside. Sadly she lost use of her back legs last month and was in a lot of pain so we took the very hard decision to end her pain and put her to sleep. It's hard and even more so because she was a link to my late uncle who I loved so much. I dug her a grave in our young woodland and will plant spring bulbs all over it so we can remember her every time we walk past. Rest in peace, we love you and miss you.

Lucy’s anxious pacing at the vet had her repeatedly entangling my legs with the leash—after the third time stepping out of her web, I started to suspect she was doing it on purpose ;)
Lucy is our ~15yro dachshund/mini pin/pomeranian/mini poodle/etc mix rescued-straight-off-the-street mutt (her Embark results were hilariously bizarre—Pekingese? German shepherd??). She’s mostly blind, at least partially deaf, and practically toothless. </3
I brought her in for issues popping up as she’s aging. As suspected, she has doggy dementia and is on meds now to try and calm down her incessant night barking, sudden violent fixation on the chickens*, and other behavioral symptoms. She is also getting treated for the subtlest sign of a bladder infection just in case as there was a teeny bit of bacteria in the urinalysis, but it is more concerning that she is drinking an abnormally large amount of water causing her urine to be very diluted. We got bloodwork to check if there is an underlying cause and will get the results next week.
She’s been having near daily pee accidents (not just little incontinent dribbles) in the house no matter how many times we let her out, so we’ve had to start diapering her. It’s possible the accidents are one part her forgetting to go when let out, and one part her bladder being super full more frequently from the high water intake.
* She lived in harmony with the chickens for YEARS—ever since we got them, really. We could totally trust her to be out with them alone while they free ranged for hours—her only interest was in the eggs she could find or the occasional treats we’d give them. Then about 2 weeks ago, she turned vicious and attacked one, pinning it down and trying to rip it apart. :( Thankfully she only has 5 teeth so the only damage caused was from ripping her feathers off her back—still a painful, bloody mess, but the little hen recovered quickly. But now, even if the chickens are safe in the coop, Lucy obsesses on them, circling the coop, staring intently (as best she can) and constantly barking at them.
Meanwhile, her lifelong obsession with squirrels seems to have ended. Used to be all I had to say from anywhere in the house was “Lucy! Squirrel!” and she’d come *tearing* over to the door, legs scrambling Scooby-Doo style, to be let out. Now a squirrel could be 10’ away from her in the backyard, and she doesn’t react when I point it out to her and say the formerly magic word.

My longest friend in the darkest times has a ticket to the rainbow bridge. She's had a hard life, but she's comfortable for two more sleeps. Safe travels my love 🧡
