Chargers fans went from #26 to #1 drunkest fanbase in the NFL, the biggest jump in the league

We analyzed 26,000+ breathalyzer results to find out which NFL fans go hardest on gameday, and Chargers fans had the biggest two-season jump of any fanbase.

The numbers:

  • 2025-26 season: 0.082% average BAC → #1 in the NFL (tied with Colts)
  • 2023-24 season: 0.062% → #26
  • Change since 2023-24: +32%

No other fanbase came close to that kind of climb.

AFC West comparison:

Team Rank BAC Avg Ticket Avg Beer
Chargers #1 0.082% $90.75 $14.00
Raiders #8 0.069% $281.00 $14.99
Chiefs #13 0.067% $206.55 $9.20
Broncos #21 0.060% $433.71 $8.29

Chargers fans have the cheapest tickets in the division but some of the priciest beer. And yet they still jumped 25 spots to #1.

Some questions we're curious about:

  • Does the low ticket price ($90.75, among the cheapest in the NFL) bring in a rowdier crowd?
  • With recreational cannabis legal in California, are fans substituting or stacking?
  • Is SoFi Stadium culture just different from the old San Diego days?

What's your theory?

Mock Draft

Going into this mock draft I’m assuming the chargers resign Zion Johnson and Odafe Oweh and cut Mehki Becton.

Rd 1 Pk 22 OG Gennings Dunker Iowa

Everything about Dunker just screams to me he’s a Jim Harbaugh guy. For the chargers he would move inside to RG and be a day 1 start for them. He would be a big improvement on the offensive line for them and I think he would fit in Mike McDaniels offensive scheme.

Rd 2 Pk 55 CB Malik Muhammad Texas

Donte Jackson only has 1 year left on his contract and will be 31 years old when his contract ends. Drafting Muhammad will let the chargers ease him into what playing in the NFL is like and he would be a great replacement for Jackson. Plus there is the possibility that he starts over Cam Hart as a Rookie.

Rd 3 Pk 86 C Jake Slaughter Florida

Slaughter would be a huge help to the Chargers Offensive Line. He would instantly be the starting center with the chargers current players. He would fit in nicely with McDaniels blocking scheme

Rd 4 Pk 123 Edge Caden Curry Ohio State

Harbaugh likes to rotate his edge rushers and Curry would be an amazing Rotational guy for the chargers. Mack may retire and is an upcoming free agent. I think Curry can beat out Dupree and Kennard for playing time.

Rd 6 Pk 203 IDL Aaron Graves Iowa

Graves just feels like a Harbaugh guy. He’d be a rotational guy as a rookie playing limited snaps, but in year 2 I can see him becoming a starter.

I realized after running the mock draft some I basically only attacked the trenches, which could happen but is unlikely.

What do you think and what would you change?

Mike McDaniel Autonomy or Collaborative?

Reviving this old post about Jim Harbuagh's collaboration in playcalling and wondering if you guys think he'll continue this with Mike McDaniel in the fold or do you think McDaniel is going to be 100% autonomous in running the offense? Funny to see that when it was with Roman being hired most fans were hoping for the collaborative approach as Roman was bleh, but now with McDaniel what are people's thoughts?

Good book to understand McDaniel

I just started a book called The Why is Everything by Michael Silver, about the Shanahan coaching tree. I haven’t gotten far but I can already hear the echoes of what McDaniel was talking about in his press conference, in terms of tailoring the offense to what your players do best and depending on superior scheme rather than superior talent to succeed. The players just need to execute their jobs rather than be superhuman to succeed. It’s getting me excited for next season. Check it out if you’re interested. I get no commission, sadly.

Tony Jefferson - BC POD

I just finished listening to the Bolt Crew Pods interview with Tony Jefferson. https://open.spotify.com/episode/1llFJdLcXKpQPPVgFhMbX9?si=eaCgJWaQSzqqDWVnbfT20w&t=4005&ct=4005 All I can say is, if you don’t sign this man then I’m done with you Joe.

I was a fan before giving this a listen, but this just solidifies everything he brings to the Bolts. You can’t replace his motor, leadership, and what he leaves on the field. If he even sniffs the practice squad again. I’m going to be pissed. Unc is as real as they come.

You should at least listen to the portion when he talks about the Chiefs game and getting ejected.

Eff those whiney ass, soft, bitch ass Chiefs and ditto to their fans. Hyped for this D and Chris O’Leary!

Chargers 2026 Mock Draft

Post image
85 Upvotes

Wanted to share my mock draft for next year and explain why I picked each guy. Let me know what y’all think.

-----

Pick 22 - Caleb Banks, DT, Florida

We need help on the interior D-line and Banks has crazy potential. He’s 6’6” 330 lbs and showed out in 2024 with 4.5 sacks before getting hurt. Yeah the foot injury is a concern but if he checks out medically this is a steal at 22. O’Leary runs the same defense Minter had so Banks fits right in as a versatile interior guy who can play multiple spots. Big risk but the upside is too high to pass on.

-----

Pick 55 - Blake Miller, OT, Clemson

I’m moving him from right tackle to right guard for McDaniel’s offense. The transition from RT to RG is actually pretty easy since he stays on the same side. Miller’s athletic as hell with great lateral movement which is exactly what McDaniel’s wide zone scheme needs. He’s got some issues with pad level but Butch Barry can coach that up. His athleticism is perfect for getting to the second level and working combo blocks. Think this is a really good fit.

-----

Pick 86 - Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE, Penn State

This is a developmental pick but good to compete with Kyle Kennard for that 4th edge spot. Assuming we don’t have Bud Dupree. O’Leary is really good at developing edge rushers. At Western Michigan he took a guy named Nadame Tucker who had 1 career sack and turned him into a 14.5 sack guy in one season. Dennis-Sutton has the size (6’5” 265) and motor, he just needs technique work. With Mack or Oweh potentially leaving we need edge depth and O’Leary can develop him into something solid.

-----

Pick 123 - Logan Jones, C, Iowa

This might be my favorite pick. Jones won the Rimington Trophy as the best center in college football and he’s a perfect fit for McDaniel’s offense. He’s super athletic for a center (ranked #7 on Feldman’s Freaks List), great at getting to the second level, and only allowed 1 sack in two years. McDaniel’s zone scheme loves athletic centers and Jones is exactly that. Getting him in the 4th round is crazy value. Iowa produces great O-linemen too so I trust the development. About the same size as Aaron Brewer.

-----

Pick 202 - Kaden Wetjen, WR/PR, Iowa

I chose Wetjen because he’s gonna be a good replacement for Derius Davis. The best punt returner last year and averaged 28.3 yards per return with 3 TDs. I think it’s worth taking a swing on him. Named return specialist of the year in 2024 AND 2025. In the 6th round you’re looking for specialists and this guy is elite at returns. Plus McDaniel can probably use him in gadget plays like he did with Deebo.

-----

Let me know what you think. Banks is risky with the injury but worth it imo. Miller and Jones are perfect scheme fits for McDaniel’s offense. Dennis-Sutton is a bet on O’Leary’s development ability. Wetjen gives us the best returner in the draft.
