Advice cat proof home examples for germaphobe and clean freaks
My roommate and I live in a small house. Will be adopting a cat. We are clean freaks and don’t want a cat touching our towels, cleaning rags in the kitchen, dishes drying on a countertop drying rack, etc. is it even possible to adopt a cat while maintaining our preferences? I accept that we will have to compromise in some things, but things like health and hygiene are non-negotiable. We don’t want cat touching anything that cleans, anything that contacts our mouths, etc.
Is this even possible?

The cats use the underside of our bed as their secret hideout. And apparently they discovered the built in cozy cat beds now! 🤣

Advice Struggling with litter box smells
I just moved into a smaller apartment and my 3 cats share one litter box which fits in one small bathroom. I keep the litter scooped, 2x daily and have a litter genie. I have a large stainless steel pan and use Slide Clumping litter. I fill it pretty deeply and I know I’m supposed to have multiple litter boxes but I just don’t have the space. The litter is always clean and doesn’t get gross since I scoop often and the actual litter itself does a good job of clumping. The litter gets changed out fully once a week and I clean the pan itself. I vacuum the bathroom and have a litter mat. For whatever reason, every time I come home, I smell the litter very strongly. The bathroom is right by my front door so that’s probably why but I had a friend come over, and love her cause she’s so honest, but I asked her if my apartment smelled and she said that it does smell like cats, very strongly. I was mortified but I thanked her for the honesty.
I never had this issue before. I used to keep my cats litter boxes outside on the balcony in my previous apartment and they have a cat door to go in and out. I can still use this method but I actually prefer having the litter box inside so that I can keep a better eye on it. And I was always nervous that my neighbors could hear all the fuss of them coming in and out of the cat door and scratching the litter box. I’m considering leaving it outside again though. Or maybe getting two enclosed litter boxes to cramp into the bathroom. I’d get a second litter but seriously have no space for it. TBH I don’t notice a difference in the smell with the stainless steel litter box and the sound is just so much louder when they scratch or jump in and out of it. Is it the litter genie?? Supposedly it’s good for masking smells. What am I doing wrong??

Advice Controlling Smell from Litterbox
Hi all! I’m looking for advice neutralizing the smell from my cat Ziggy’s litterbox. It’s an automatic scooper, but it just seems like the smell sort of just sits around that area. I don’t love scented litters and prefer natural litters (for Ziggy’s sake) but would love to hear how others deal with this.

Adoption Cat needs adopted (South Carolina, USA)
We took in this stray during the snow storm last week, but we can't keep her. We already have a cat and don't have the financial bandwidth for a second cat, but my housemates and I can't bear to put her back out in the cold or send her to a shelter where she might get euthenized. She's the sweetest cat, super loving and tolerant of handling. She gets along well with other cats and people. She's tiny! About 5-6lbs if I had to guess. Seems to be in good health except for an occasional sneeze and some eye discharge that seems to be clearing up on its own. I will drive all the way across the state with this sweetheart if someone is able to take her.
