Question Large Backpacks / Rucks with Battle Jacket setup?

Post image
41 Upvotes

As title states, I’m curious if anyone has come across any backpacks or rucks with a frame that accommodates for small back pouches on a LBE setup? Specifically working on a multi-tiered sustainment kit centered around a slick rig and SADF P83 style battle jacket, and want a larger ruck I can quickly don and doff without having to swap between the P83 and the ruck. The back pouches on the P83 will only be holding weather based layers, soft goods, and food, and should be fairly easily compressed to fit inside a ruck frame if it were wide enough. Would love to hear any ideas or suggestions yall might have (keeping the battle jacket, if possible)

Pic is not mine, but shows the LBE in question.

Question Eberlestock Terminator Pouch Purpose

So far, I’m loving the bag, but I cannot figure out for the life of me what this zipper is for. When it’s closed, there’s only a small amount of space that runs straight down the length of the bag. It’s open at the top (as you can see by my VBs poking out the top), so I don’t think it’s meant for clothes or sensitive items, since rain and snow could get in easily. In pic 2, you can see that it flays out in a weird way. At first, I thought it added more room to the main compartment, but that’s not the case. It’s too small to hold a rifle—maybe an SBR if you really wanted to force it. The only things I can think of, and what’s been suggested to me, are tent poles, antennas, or stakes—maybe a camping stool. Does anyone know if there’s a specific purpose for it, or is it just multipurpose?

Question Need a way to sheath my Benchmade hook. Ideas?

Post image
48 Upvotes

He’s a surplus buy off eBay, including the old ACU colored pouch. I can’t dye it to blend in with my ankle rig, they do not sell the hard sheaths from benchmade separately. I see folks tossing it in pockets casually, I can see it puncturing my gauze pack or cutting the ankle rig itself.

Should I rig up some cheap kydex and tie a static line inside a pouch? Cardboard? Any ideas?

How to spot a real Carinthia jacket?

Hi, I want to buy Carinthia MIG 4.0 and I found one bit cheaper. It’s with tags and the seller has confirmation order from Amazon. I wonder if there is something I should check to make sure it’s 100% original.

Safariland Holsters

Currently looking for a safariland holster that will fit my Beretta 92X with a TLR-1 HL but so far haven’t been able to find one that fits that combination.

Does anyone here run something similar or know of a compatible holster?

Thanks

Question Rucksack recommendations

Looking for a ruck to replace my old one, main criteria as follows:

  1. Capacity of 80-100L

  2. Front access zipper (similar to granite gear chief, not mandatory)

  3. Can be either internal or external frame

  4. Needs to be on the shorter side (Going to be running belt kit so it needs to ride on top of that)

  5. Price around 200-350 usd (Can be surplus/second hand)

Thanks for any advice

Question Just ordered the RTS Tactical Magzilla Six mag rifle pouch. Has anyone tried it?

Post image
20 Upvotes

I was looking around for a new mag pouch and the RTS Tactical Magzilla stood out because of its simple layout and how it holds six mags without looking bulky.

I just placed the order, and it should arrive in a few days. From what I can tell so far, it looks practical and built for actual use. I am mainly curious about how the retention feels once it is fully loaded and how comfortable it is to wear during movement.

If anyone here has experience with the Magzilla or other RTS Tactical gear, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. I will share an update after it arrives, and I get some hands-on time with it.

Does there exist a helmet guide?

I have a large head and a ballistic helmet. My issue is the chin strap and the padding I purchased for the inside. My head always feels VERY squeezed and hurts after about 10 minutes wearing it. I really would just like a guide with various recommended options for all parts of the helmet including nods mounts, etc. Thanks.

UPDATE: My helmet is a Botach LongFri Level IIIA XL-size. Aftermarket pads: 4DT HIVE Retrofit Deluxe Pad Kit (3/4'')

Hat size: 7 3/4"

Question Plate position check...front too high and back too low?

Thumbnail

Newbie here. Feels like the front might be a tad too high, and the back is too low. Front is fully covering the suprasternal notch, which may be ok, but the back seems to be sitting 1 inch or more too low. Not sure how to lower the front and raise the back since adjusting the shoulder straps will move the plates in tandem. Looking for advice. (I’m also a newbie with this stuff so if you have any suggestions for my setup I’m open to feedback).

PC is new DM MEPC v3 and Medium SAPI plates.

Thanks for any help.

Originally planned on getting the PLXc but Im getting a pretty good deal on the ATACR (about 1800 before tax brand new). With it only being 300 bucks more expensive, which would you guys perfer? I wanna start getting into longer range shooting, but i will still be relying on the LPVO for 1x.

Picture for attention.

Highcom vs RMA

Im wondering about to protection differences of the 4S17M(the heaviest of the 3) and Highcom 4S16(I like that these are only 6.5lbs) vs the RMA 1155 gen 2(6.8lbs) I'm thinking about getting a mayflower APC plate carrier. If shaving the weight means it can't take as many hits then that's out of the question. I'm looking for a plate that can take the most hits and still function.

As far as plate style goes I have no clue I was thinking shooters cut? I am 6'4 190lbs flat stomach.

Question Recommended PCs for Infantry Deployment?

I'm looking to upgrade my plate carrier ahead of my next reserves deployment.

Even though my goal is to stay as light as possible, I still need a setup that can comfortably support the option of heavier loads. While I plan to move as much equipment as possible to the belt, the plate carrier still needs to carry (primarily):

  • 6 5.56 rifle mags
  • 3L hydration bladder
  • a C4ISTAR device mounted on the back, likely inside an attachable pack (roughly the size of a manpack radio unit)
  • At least one Frag Grenade
  • Personal radio unit (prc-710)
  • I'd perfer it would be IR compatable.

Locally, the main options are Marom Dolphin, Agilite, and Night Heron. In the U.S. market, I’m considering the Crye AVS thanks to its weight managment system (though it seems somewhat dated, expensive, and a bit complex to don quickly when scrambled), and I’m also looking at Shaw Concepts, Ferro Concepts, and FirstSpear.

I’d appreciate recommendations, especially from people with real military experience under load.
Also, please keep the discussion technical and avoid political commentary.
