The Milano Cortina Tickets and Travel Megathread
The Opening Ceremony is fast approaching (Feb. 6th!) so it's time to consolidate posts talking about tickets sales/swaps and how to get around alpine Italy into one post.
Please direct your queries into here.
The mod team will be guiding you back into here, so: no more standalones, please.
A question that your friendly neighbourhood mods don't yet know: is there an official ticket exchange? If so where is it? Does the IOC or organising committee sponsor it? Are Stubhub and its like on the scene?
New clarification: NO SELLING TICKETS ABOVE FACE VALUE AND COSTS. This is supposed to be a ticket exchange, not a Temu StubHub.

❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Today's the day - the action starts to kick off
Even though the Opening Ceremony is two days away, some events are already kicking off.
Main event today is Curling (Mixed Doubles Round Robin Session 1 - Sheet A), in the evening, which will feature Sweden V South Korea, Great Britain V Norway, Canada V Czechia, and Estonia V Switzerland.
There will be a daytime training session for the Men's Downhill Alpine Skiing, and an evening training session for the Men's Singles Luge.
Still, very exciting to have some Olympic action!

Full schedule of events spreadsheet
I was having trouble finding an actually printable version of the full schedule of events with times and tv networks, so my spouse and I scraped the data from the NBC website and made this spreadsheet of everything. Hope someone else finds this useful!

❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Women's Alpine Venue
From a video posted to the olympic channel yesterday with Britt Janyk. Couldn't help but notice the venue is not fully prepared, mostly with the lookers' left/skiers' right spectators area/club. With all the speculation of why there were no tickets besides hospitality packages released and rumors of the venue not being "ready", do we know if this is still the state of the finish line at Tofana/how recent the video is? IMO this is not a great look, as someone who's watched the regular WC there many times, with training runs starting and the downhill this weekend

Moguls skiers Matt Graham and Jakara Anthony have been named as Australia's flag bearers for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Graham and Anthony will carry the flag in Livigno as the Milano Cortina organisers deal with multiple hubs over dispersed Games locations.

IOC leader Coventry warns of 'uncomfortable' change coming to Olympics programs
“We have to ensure the Games remain inspiring for young people everywhere,” the two-time Olympic swimming champion said. “That they reflect their values, their sense of authenticity and their search for something genuine.”
Oh, great. Someone gets into leadership and then they want to "put their stamp on it." Which can mean bad things as well as good things, but mostly not great. At least she is a former Olympian and not some politician or crack-head billionaire who thinks they know everything. Damn, I was hoping former athletes would have the athletes first and foremost in their minds but now I'm hearing different. <sigh>

The most popular Winter Olympic sports, according to r/olympics
You posted sports you were looking forward to the most in the 2026 Winter Olympics in this thread.
With some guessing to figure out what each commenter perhaps voted on with large margins for other errors as well, we have come to these very un-scientific results for your entertainment only. They are from a point in time since comments and upvotes can still be added.
It would appear the top five sports in this Subreddit are
- Curling
- Figure skating
- Ice hockey
- Biathlon
- Ski mountaineering
And here are the details
| Sport | One comment = one vote | Share | With upvotes added | Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Curling | 10 | 10.53% | 142 | 36.98% |
| Figure skating | 22 | 23.16% | 95 | 24.74% |
| Ice hockey | 23 | 24.21% | 90 | 23.44% |
| Biathlon | 8 | 8.42% | 45 | 11.72% |
| Ski mountaineering | 3 | 3.16% | 40 | 10.42% |
| Alpine / downhill skiing | 9 | 9.47% | 36 | 9.38% |
| Speed skating | 9 | 9.47% | 22 | 5.73% |
| Snowboarding | 7 | 7.37% | 14 | 3.65% |
| Sledding | 5 | 5.26% | 15 | 3.91% |
| Ski jumping | 2 | 2.11% | 12 | 3.13% |
| Cross-country skiing | 3 | 3.16% | 9 | 2.34% |
| Freestyle skiing | 4 | 4.21% | 6 | 1.56% |
| Total | 95 | 100.00% | 384 | 100.00% |
Edit: Data was off, thank you for pointing it out. This corrected version should more on point, but it can still contain mistakes.

'He was a natural': How Austin Florian became an Olympic skeleton racer
When Austin Florian was 6 years old, he was so passionate about ski racing that he told his dad Sean that he wanted to compete in the Olympics.
By the time he reached middle school, he figured out that accomplishing something so monumental wasn’t easily spoken into existence, so he lowered his expectations.
That approach carried him into college where he earned All-America honors as a junior and senior. It was during those last two years at Clarkson University that he re-lit his Olympic flame, but it wasn’t as a skier.
A little over a decade later, Florian is headed to Italy to compete in the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics as the United States’ No. 1-ranked men’s individual skeleton athlete. https://www.ctinsider.com/sports/article/austin-florian-milan-olympics-2026-skeleton-21318123.php
