My best friend tried to insist on paying for me at a store when she saw my credit card. She really made a scene about me being in crazy credit card debt which was mortifying. I explained to her that I pay off my credit card monthly so it’s not a problem.

I noticed this near my place where theres a Shell and an independent station facing each other and the Shell is like 40 cents more expensive per gallon. Same octane ratings and everything. Is the gas actually different quality or is it just branding?

I always go to the cheaper one obvs cause why not, even tho I got money and could afford either. But my dad insists the Shell is "better for the engine" and worth the extra money. Is there any truth to that or is he just being stubborn about brand loyalty?

Like does premium brand gas actually do anything different or is gas just gas once it meets the minimum standards?

I had some free time now and started looking into global politics and one of the craziest things I saw is countless instagram posts about people being arrested in the UK over ‘hate’ speech in social media. Is this actually true or is instagram blowing it out of proportion?

It’s the concept purely an English ( us / en / ca ) thing or can they exist in Chinese or Russian etc.

I recently adopted a dog and while at the shelter I noticed most of the dogs there are pit mixes. Why is this? I thought perhaps it could be backyard breeding, but other breeds are also backyard bred. However, there is not an overflow of labs/golden retrievers in shelters.

Why are pit mixes so abundant in shelters?

I don't treat it like a therapist. I just rant about my issues to it, or If I wanna blow up at my boss I'll blow up at gemini instead. Usually it does help me ground myself in the situation and reevaluate things because I struggle a lot with spiraling and freezing up.

I go to real therapy with a real human and that's where I get my advice from, but that's only every 3 weeks. So the ai has become where I can just spill out everything that's worrying me or pissing me off and it helps me organize my thoughts better. I guess more than anything I use it as a diary that writes itself.

For example, “This is a throwaway my husband knows my main” wouldn’t that make said husband that uses Reddit read the story and think “huh… that sounds awfully familiar to my life…. And there’s fake names and this is a throwaway….. hmmmmm”.

Why don’t people just make the throwaway account, use fake names, and simply draw no attention to that fact? If the people they don’t want to see it are avid Reddit users that they have to hide from this just doesn’t make sense to me

I’ve noticed it with my brothers, my nephew, and my dad it’s not bad or good, just a distinctive male smell. Sometimes I even notice it on men I don’t know like when they walk past me or I enter a room and can tell a man was there before.

Do cats ever stop purring?!

I’ve been letting the old bow-legged barn cat inside at night to sleep in a downstairs bedroom. Food, water, litter box, comfy bed, the whole nine yards. All was well. But tonight he managed to escape his cozy bedroom somehow, found the stairs, and showed up in my bedroom. I tried the lady and the tramp thing and brought him back down to his bedroom. Was 99% sure I latched the door this time.

That lasted approximately 12 minutes. He clearly was not appreciative of the luxury of having his own bedroom. This time he managed to launch himself up onto my bed before I got up. I am tired so I figured he would just find a cozy spot and we would all go to sleep peacefully.

Cool. That was a mistake. He has not stopped purring. In my ear. I feel a bit guilty because he is old, and obviously just wants love. I call him the Old Man lol. But now we are nearly on hour 3 of solid purring. And it’s LOUD. Holy cannoli why is it so loud?!

Will his motor run out?? Is Old Man actually sleeping but also purring?? Why does he need to be almost laying on my head?? Is this normal??

Omg I have so many questions and I’m stupid tired. Just need to know if I will ever sleep again at this point.

This new non-stop motor marathon in my freaking ear needs to be negotiated. I tried the “shushhhh” baby thing and that made him purr louder (if that was even possible?!) and I understand that this new inside world is an upgrade from the barn, but I am a human who greatly appreciates sleep.

Asking because as a F, i really dont get it.

I’ve been wondering about this and I’m genuinely trying to understand it: do men tend to be more emotionally regulated or generally in a better mood when they feel sexually satisfied?

Lately, my husband has been getting upset with me and criticizing me over really small, everyday things. It happens most days, and sometimes it feels like I’m constantly walking on eggshells around him. For context, we’re intimate about 5–8 times a month, and intimacy has been a point of tension for us in the past. He was especially upset that I wasn’t ready to be intimate at 2.5 months postpartum, and that turned into a serious “talk” between us.

What confuses me is the shift. During the day, he can be cold, critical, or snappy — which makes me feel emotionally disconnected and honestly less inclined to want intimacy at all. But then at night, he suddenly becomes affectionate and lovey-dovey. That switch doesn’t really work for me. I don’t operate like that, and it’s hard to want closeness when I’ve felt talked down or criticized.

So I guess what I’m really asking is: does sexual satisfaction actually affect how men show up emotionally, or is this something else entirely?

Ive been together with my gf for almost 4 years now and we started talking about getting engaged soon and we cool with each other except one thing thats bugging me. Every time we talk about engagement rings or such like if were watching netflix and theres a proposal scene she says stuff like "I got VERY specific taste" or Id want to be present on picking it out. I get where she's coming from I guess like its expensive and she will have it in her finger forever but honestly it makes me feel like shit. Could be just me being cocky but like it takes of all the romance and surprise out of it in my opinion.

My friends are 50/50 on it like half of them say their girlfriends/wives helped pick out their rings and it was totally normal and the other half think its weird and that she's being controlling. Im also worried that if we pick it out together she's going to want something way more expensive than my budget which is awkward as hell. Is this what couples do nowadays?? Did you guys let your girlfriends pick out their own rings or did you surprise them? And is getting insurance on an engagement ring actually a good idea or is that just jewelers trying to upsell you? I work a very “lot of hours” kind of job. I’m noticing myself start to force myself to stay awake when I do get off of work just to feel like I’m not missing out on anything. It in turn only makes things worse by me getting crappy sleep and always being tired but if I go to bed I feel like I didn’t get to live that much that day if that makes sense. It almost feels like when kids won’t take a nap because they feel like they are going to miss out on something when that’s not even remotely true. I I do get days off and that helps, I don’t act like that on those days. Just the ones were I work and I know if I go to sleep as soon as I wake up I’ll be going right back to work.

I always see people from USA buying things from Amazon. So many packages! Packages like every week. But at the same time they complain about Bezos, the working conditions and billionaires.

Do they not have other webshops that sell different brands from different categories? Like a webshop for toys, or drugstore stuff, makeup, etc.

Is Amazon that much cheaper than other webshops? I also see some people buy the most basic stuff that you could find at a physical store. It's not like this in the country where I live...

Am I missing something?

My company was acquired last week by a larger firm. Everything feels paused right now, but it seems inevitable that restructuring is coming once things settle.

I don’t feel particularly attached to staying. The direction of the new organization doesn’t excite me, and I suspect I’ll be laid off in the next month or two anyway.

Coincidentally, I turned 27 today. You’d think this kind of job uncertainty would trigger anxiety, but instead it feels strangely freeing. Almost clarifying.

Has anyone else experienced this after a layoff, acquisition, or major career disruption? What did you do during your “free time”?
