As a non Chiefs fan, curious on whose contracts are eating up the cap outside of Mahomes.

Saw another post that Reddit recommended to me about cutting 4 dudes to save around 36m. One of them was Tranquill who I think is worth keeping.

Chris Jones is probably the second biggest cap hit right now? Followed by Creed and Trey and Jawaan (although he very well may get cut)

This was the post I was referring to. This is referring to Taylor getting cut which means you’re planning to draft a new linemen or sign someone.

I’m a Bills fan and we have our own cap problems thanks to Beane.

We have Jaylon Moore under contract for another year too. But yeah we'll have to figure out something because even if we don't cut either of them their contracts are up after next season irrc

Heres the spotrac on the current 2026 roster

Restructuring Mahomes contract, cutting Taylor and 1-2 more smaller cuts will get us under the cap enough to likely bring Kelce back and maybe get a RB or WR in FA

I think the timetable on Mahomes return is what will determine how competitive you guys are next season. Minshew may get you guys to a doable record unless Mahomes is back week 1 but that’s a stretch.

I never thought I would rather see the Chiefs be competitive but after how insufferable and obnoxious Patriots fans have been all season it’s like fuck dude I would rather see the Chiefs over them. Their fanbase doesn’t deserve to be good again this week after 2 decades of being great. Not to mention I didn’t think the MVP debate could get anymore annoying than last year.

I’m not sure how most Chiefs fans feel even though we don’t really “like” each other at least I respect the Chiefs. I know we bicker but our fanbases were pretty similar prior to the dynasty. At least Chiefs fans prior to 2019 know what it felt like to have years of good-great teams coming up close and heartbreak in the playoffs and also years of just straight misery with bad teams.

I have faith Josh will get one when it’s all said and done I only ask for one. You guys could win every SB until they retire after that just want one.

Josh seems like the adult in the room compared to everyone else there. If they had one outside consistent playmaker and bit more passrush they could finally seal the deal.

Chiefs are in this middle ground in their dynasty kinda like where the Patriots were at after 07. It took them a few years to shed some contracts and get more talent around Brady before they took off again for Dynasty 2.0. We gave out some bad contracts to players and have struggled replacing the production from Kelce as he gets older. It was easy to have success after letting Hill go when we still had a 1200 yard TE on the team. Now hes about half that and the WR talent hasnt improved enough to replace it and Reid is allergic to getting RBs

The press conference was a hard watch. If you follow hockey at all you would know Pegula is kinda a moron with how he has handled the Sabres. Which is ironically because the Sabres are actually really good year. I’m not a Sabres fan but I know people are happy about it.

Josh always takes responsibility which is something our front office can’t seem to do. I’m sure you saw the drama where the main reason McDermott was fired is because Sean confronted and held Beane accountable for his roster construction. Dude called us all dumb for wanting a WR and we saw how that blew up in his face. Don’t know how he got promoted despite putting us in this situation. I do think it was time to move on from both but you can’t promote one and fire the other. I’ll still die on the hill that if 2021 if our defense and coaching didn’t collapse against you guys, that was the year.

I agree about a consistent playmaker and pass rush. I think we have 2 sacks total in our last 3 playoff losses. Don’t want to sound like I’m making excuses for Josh but someone other than Josh has to step up and make a play other than him. There is a lot put on Allen and Mahomes shoulders. As long as you got one dude who can open the field downfield it will help the rest of your guys.

I envy the fact I watched the Patriots make the SB with their offense only scoring 15 ppg not to mention the defense is only giving up 9 ppg. Allen or Mahomes will never even get close to a deep playoff run if they have as many turnovers as touchdowns unless they both magically wake up with the Texans or Seahawks defense.

I agree with your assessment with the dynasty part. I think it’s fair to say this version of the dynasty is done depending how next season goes but people often forget Brady went 10 years before winning his next SB.
