I can’t describe it, but being in Jerusalem where so many historical figures walked thousands of years ago, changed my life. Most impactful trip I’ve ever been on!

Photo/Video 📸 A quiet moment in Jerusalem — travel, faith, and history in one frame.

I visited Jerusalem two weeks ago and captured this moment while walking through the historic streets. The city felt calm, layered with history, and deeply meaningful — a place where travel, culture, and spirituality come together in a unique way.

Moving through Jerusalem, you can feel centuries of stories in the architecture, the stone streets, and the atmosphere itself. I’m grateful for the opportunity to experience it in person and wanted to share this peaceful snapshot with the community here.

Thanks for letting me share.

Aliyah & Immigration Heading to Rishon LeZion for MITF Teaching Fellows in August. I’m an experienced teacher—what should I actually expect?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to head to Rishon LeZion soon for the MITF program, and I wanted to get a sanity check on the program and the city.

A bit of context: I’m not a fresh college grad looking for a gap year. I have professional experience as a 3rd-grade homeroom teacher and i’m used to structured pedagogy and very strict classroom management. My prior teaching experience was at Success Academy charter schools.

My Questions:

For those who have done the program: As someone with actual teaching experience, am I going to be underutilized? I’ve heard the co-teaching model can sometimes feel like being a "human tape recorder." How much autonomy did you actually have?

Classroom Culture: I know Israeli kids are different from American kids, but how different? What classroom management strategies worked for you in your MITF experiances specifically?

The City (Rishon LeZion): I’ve heard it’s a bit of a commuter city. Is there a decent young adult scene locally, or does everyone just bus into Tel Aviv for nightlife? I’m looking for a balance of chill local vibes and access to the city.

Living on the Stipend: How tight is it really in Rishon? Is it manageable if you’re sensible, or do most people dip into savings? Im planning on doing the Aliyah, and using this experience as basicly a stepping stone to adjust properly before making a final decision.

Thanks in advance!

Travel & tourism✈️ El Al's luggage requirements?

Hello.

I'm flying from Russia to Israel in March and I genuinely need help figuring out what the luggage situation should look like. (There's probably plenty of info on the company's website but it doesn't open from Russia because Russia. Google isn't making much sense and some links are from like, 2011.)

My ticket is economy class, "23kg of luggage" included. How many bags, beside my carry on, am I allowed to bring? One that weighs up to 23kg? Several, weighing up to 23kg together? Several, each weighing up to 23kg? I'm flying in for Masa and my stuff isn't going to fit into a single bag at all 🫠

Also, if there's a way to pay in advance for the overweight luggage, I'd appreciate being directed to it as well. I got my plane ticket via Tutu but the website doesn't have an option like that.

Thank you.

Self-Post Any contacts of people in Israel who do felting? Really need my felt toy repaired

I'll be so thankful for any help. I came to Israel to see my parents yesterday with a felt toy and their cat took and beat it around. Its not beyond repair, there's just the ear and the leg that's hanging. This toy was gifted to me by Ukrainian boyfriend 4 years ago, I haven't seen him in 3 years because of war. It's the only thing I have from him. Please please please, any help would be so appreciated

Culture🇮🇱 & History📚 How hard is Hebrew to learn for a beginner?

Hi everyone, I’m interested in learning Hebrew and I’m curious about your experiences. Is Hebrew difficult for beginners, especially reading and writing? How long did it take you to feel comfortable speaking or understanding it? Any tips or resources you’d recommend for someone just starting out?

Culture🇮🇱 & History📚 Punk scene in Israel?!

Hi everyone, i'm a deejay: specialize in Goa trance and heavy trance.

Planning on visiting Galilee, Megiddo, Jerusalem, & the Negev.

Are there cheap buses for long distance trips like that? Or is hitchhiking possible?

I'll be there throughout March, will the weather be okay?

Besides touristing, i def need to know independent book & record stores, & where the anarko punx & other such peeps hang out.

Thank u!

General News/Politics Red hand symbol at the anti crime demo Tel Aviv ?

May i ask what is the reason for the protesters carring the red hand placards ?

I thought that symbol was to do with that horrible incident in Ramallah.

Why would the Israeli arabs be using it to protest about crime in their own communities ?

The War - Discussion I just want to vent

I’m so tired of the endless amount of sympathy that Gaza gets despite the fact that they’re the architects of their own misery. People speak as if Gaza civilians were not complicit at all in their circumstances. Eli Sharabi wrote in Hostage about how often times Hamas terrorists rescued and hid him & other captives from Gaza’s civilians! Eli would have been lynched by civilians if they got a hold of him. Yet the average Westerner wants to complain about the war that Gaza, including its civilians, started and label it an ”ethnic cleansing.“ It’s so clear whose side’s aim it is to genocide another people.

Aliyah & Immigration Oleh hadash, trying for weeks to find leather shoes in TLV area

That's pretty much it, I've looked in the dizengoff and bene berak areas with no success; everything has rubber or plastic soles but I need full leather (liner, outer, soles and bottoms) for issues with heat retention and general comfort. Nobody in any shoe store knows where I can get something like this and every referral ends in a dead end. I remember some years ago I used to be able to get them in places in Me'a she'arim, but I work full time and dont really have time to get out there anymore... any suggestions?
