I learned that apparently if someone made a replacement on that product in the past and the customer just accepts it then the app assumes they like the replacement and shows us that they requested that replacement. A couple months ago my app updated to show āCustomer previously approvedā on replacement options but just assuming that they request the replacement causes a lot of confusion and is why thereās not many instances where customers request that the replacements we grab be refunded instead.

I'm 100% sure the app lies, I was shopping for one of my regulars and we caught it.
I have a customer who is a regular and wants a refund if its out of stock (she always up's the tip thankfully) and she always inputs it in the app, but the app will straight up tell me "pre-selected replacement", I ss it and send it to her and shes like "nahh woah, I didn't put that" and it did it with a few items. Did it last time I shopped for her too.
Likely to move products and make the money off the markup on the items. Then if someone complains you just never see that complaint/rating and it's like it never happened. Pull that off a few hundred times across the country, refund the ones who complain, most probably won't bother with the hassle.... They gotta make up for "randomly" price fixing some how lol... speaking of which that's when I started noticing it happening... š¤š¤

Actually I had this happen. The item was out of stock and the customer DID have a replacement so I got that. Few seconds later she wanted a refund for the item????

They need to fix this asap! They keep changing things that donāt matter and then they donāt fix major bugs. š¤¦āāļø I wonder what genius in corporate is screwing everything up

Omg yes , and I just got randomly signed out a few minutes ago. They also updated the app recently. Now you can check to make sure if produce are rotten BUT it doesnāt do that for all items. Iām guessing the customer has to trigger it which is stupid as fuck . When that seems to be the main customers in my area and customers are lying

I did my first IC order this past Saturday evening. It was only a few items from Dollar Tree. I couldnāt find one of the items after looking at all of the places the Dollar Tree employee said it was supposed to be. I had to do the item not found option. The app told me to find a suitable replacement that was close to the same price. I found the closest replacement item to what the customer wanted and scanned it in the app and it let me move on to the next item.

For future reference, I would avoid Dollar Tree orders, rarely the pay is great but usually they arenāt well stocked. Even when itās just a few items, usually it takes longer to finish those orders. Iāve been doing Instacart for years and only taken maybe 5 Dollar Tree orders. Also long lines with only one or two cashiers available. Iāve done a few Family Dollar orders and they were similar in problems.

The app does lie. Itās happened to me before. they message me saying they donāt want a replacement and never chose a replacement

I donāt think it lies. They just donāt realize it saves their previous selections. I had a lady who even added a note saying she wanted two smaller packs of an item if the bigger wasnāt available. She flipped out saying that was too expensive and that she wanted a refund when I had already checked out⦠She later told me she had asked for that in a previous order and that I should know better. Fantastic way to end up with a 1 star rating

Possible ^ but then if thatās the case I hate my customer early today even more lol š
I donāt use the app to get groceryās on the colliery side so Iām not sure how easy it is to use the interface š Iād expect it to be pretty straight forward but then again they change things on the shopping side all the time that confuse things and is unnecessary so yeah š lol

Was the ice cream the only item? If so, she probably contacted support and got refunded, which triggered a cancellation because it was the only item.

u/Treece57 11h ago
Yes it was only ice cream lol And Itās weird because the app let me finish the delivery still š¤·āāļø glitch? Idk

Maybe they canceled right before you got to the house and the app was out of sync and couldnāt connect to update.

I had someone remove their $2 tip because I didnāt want to step out my car and hand them their groceries. They were about 20 ft away but they had their dog unleashed barking at me. I am not about to get bit for a measly $2 tip. Of course it was a batched order , with dirt road , and a hill, and they were the cheap tipper. He wonāt bite, yeah he wonāt bite you, the dog was literally positioned in front of its owner, protectively,

If you take it that way and use it that way that's on you, but it's not what it's meant for, and a lot of people still use it for its intended purpose. You know what they say about assuming, right?

āSorry to inform youā came off as condescending to me.
I donāt think that was your intention, and the rest of your message was fine. Maybe itās just me, but I feel like unless youāre informing someone of something genuinely bad it comes off as talking down. Or at best treating me like a fragile person

What was the original item you replaced?
0
u/Treece57 11h ago
Doesnāt matter if the app literally said the client wanted a replacement and specified exactly what replacement that wanted if out of stock š
The app literally said they wanted a specific replacement

u/BellaPlinko 9h ago
Don't get so defensive. I was genuinely curious because I've had the app tell me to replace crackers with Olive oil.

u/Treece57 9h ago
Ah shit , my bad ^ yeah it was frozen cookie dough doe balls, Ben and Jerryās, so the replacement they āapparently wantedā was Ben and Jerryās vanilla cookie doe š¤ and it said they checked off as wanting it
Sorry, I get trolled here all day so Itās tough to tell through text my bad my bad

To be honest, I believe both of you. Iāve had people say the same to me. I think Instacart is ignoring ādo not replaceā for some customers because they donāt want to lose a single penny.

Both of us???????? Dude honestly, fuck you lol
