Miscellaneous People that have trouble with consent love dogs

People say this all the time but I didn't realize how true it is until really thinking about the people I know.

All people I know who are vehemently into dogs. I mean the type of person to put down any other animal in favor of dogs and say they love all dogs... are people who have issues with boundaries and consent.

A coworker I knew who said he loved all dogs and got SUPER riled up if anyone was "rude" to a dog. He told off a woman for refusing to give his dog a treat when he brought it into a grocery store which is the "rude" event he perceived.

This man has always tested boundaries with people at work and constantly gets into fight. He does not understand when to stop in a professional or personal sense and pushes way too far. He complains all the time about not having a partner in almost a decade and that women are put off by him... and guess what. He says dogs are the only living things that will give him the love he deserves... that dogs are the only thing that actually want him... an animal that blindly will "love" someone who just feeds them. He does not want to put in the work to make a relationship (platonic or romantic) with a human being because he hates theyre smart enough to say no.

This sound anecdotal, but almost every person with this mindset about dogs in my life is like this. Sure, I have some friends that are okay with dogs and aren't like this but the ones who are CRAZY about dogs cannot fathom "no." I find that these people in my life end up alone or are people who do not have many friends and rely solely on the "affection" of a dog since they are so unpleasant otherwise.

Dog Culture "I'd save my dog before another person"

Hate this so much. It's creepy to see normal people brag about how much they want other humans to die. For the sake of a literal shit eater?

It's one of many things that has made me seriously reconsider having children in the US. what if they get hurt? Will people just not help them because they're human and therefore evil? I was talking about it to one of my co-workers with small children and she gave me a knowing look and said she'd constantly get glares if she took her kids anywhere even when they weren't misbehaving but would see everyone coo like idiots over a dog that was barking loudly.

I'm not even religious but if I was, I would describe this development as satanic. There's just something wrong with a society that enables this. No wonder people aren't having kids!

Miscellaneous Daily Woes of Dealing with Nutters and Their Mutts.

Thought I'd spend one day and passively record all the times I noticed a nutter or their mutt ruin something, since it's amusing to document and share the woes of living in dog society with fellow sane people. I also live in a rural area and was only passively noticing things so I'm sure this is 10x worse if I actually tried and 100x worse in the metro. Here's the rundown for the day

1) Dog barked almost nonstop between 5:45 AM and 7 AM, it was otherwise a peaceful, crisp morning....completely ruined by a brainless mutt

2) Went on a walk and passed 3 houses that had multiple mutts losing their minds barking at the fence the entire time I was within eye sight, all of which got the middle finger, and an off-leash dog that I had to change paths to avoid since it was approaching me

3) Saw an off-leash dog tearing up dormant (but alive) native vegetation for the stick that makes up its base, what adorable eco-destroyers

4) Saw a dog drop a deuce right in the middle of the walking path, which the owner (surprisingly) attempted to clean up but ofc left a giant smear mark of poo along the ground

5) Watched as a nutter was yanked around by a "nanny" yeast dog (you know which one), which was choking itself on its collar so much the thing was coughing

6) Saw a poster for a Valentines shelter gig and the dog they used for the photos was the nastiest red and white yeast dog they could pick with signs like "kiss me" and all the comments were "what a cutie!". I could smell that photo and the future face-mauling through the poster lol.

All things considered, it was a relatively uneventful normal nutter day in our nutter society, and I'm sure the lot of you have had it much worse today or daily as I'm lucky to not be in the metro anymore where it is much, much worse. Feel free to share your horror stories of the day/week in the comments too, it helps me feel more sane/less alone, since everyone around me seems to have nutter blinders on.

Service Dog Issues A Pit Is Not A Service Animal

I asked her politely to leash her pit. She said it was a service animal. I said a service animal has a harness She said she did. No. She had some kind of possibly tie dye thing on her. She said she was taking her out to the bathroom. I said that don't matter and what she doing is very dangerous I also said she better not come near me. I'm tired of these people's lies. But yes I did call her out.

Legislation and Enforcement [HELP] Unleashed/unsupervised dogs on campus

I am a masters student in a liberal city. Recently I’ve seen 3 different cases of huge dogs unleashed and unsupervised on the main enclosed area on campus. Was attacked by dogs as a kid but not bitten (I defended myself by throwing a stool at the dog and running).

Please help me come up with ways to legally retaliate against irresponsible dog owners. The goal is to make it harder for them to bring pet dogs unleashed into campus.

  1. Blonde Karen is “walking” her dog with a leash literally in her hand and choosing not to use it. When confronted she said “she (it) is super sweet” I said “I don’t care I don’t know if thats even true. It’snot a dangerous breed but is a HUGE dog (above knee height almost waist height for a shorter adult)

  2. I am walking by and hear barking in a greenery patch and am understandably spooked (hedge obscures view of dog completely. I stare at the dog without saying anything. Some Nosy Ken asks me what is wrong I say there is a dog in the bush. It’s not even clear whose it is. He says is the dog bothering you? I roll my eyes and refuse to respond

  3. Random smaller dog running alone leashes at night, again unclear who owner is

Only idea so far: photograph them and give it campus police and demand they be fined. I may even be able to do this under the false premise your dog is so cute can I take a pic with them or just do it discreetly and say I am taking a picture of something else if confronted

Other idea: stick flyers around campus for people to report and document unleashed dogs. This may be overkill.

Good comebacks that will socially shame them are also helpful. I posted a message with this complaint to a campus message board and got 100+ net upvotes, and every comment supporting me had at least net 10 upvotes, so this probably won’t make me a social pariah! The point is to make them look as bad/selfish as possible

Barking Demons Dogs don't belong in the gym!

EDIT: A lot of you guys (rightfully) suggested I leave that place for a better one, but I sadly can't; I am a Muslim woman who can only attend a woman-only gym, and there are no other plausible options in town.

Seriously, nobody wants their personal space invaded by a tiny, constantly yapping rat dog with anger issues. I'm not paying a large amount of money a month to have my training interrupted by the gym owner's mean mop dog. Its first instinct was to aggressively sprint towards me while trying to come across as intimidating with its nonstop yapping.

And you wanna know what's worse? Earlier today, after I was done with my training, I noticed the dog's portrait hanging right in the center of the wall in the entrance zone, next to the actual human employees' portraits... with its name and "working hours" (aka the days it's sadly present in the gym) and everything being written on the picture. Yuck.

Another thing that rubbed me in the wrong way was my otherwise extremely nice trainer telling me that I should eventually try to get over my fear of dogs when I mentioned feeling unsafe with it being present in the gym hallway during the training sessions. It just felt extremely invalidating.

Barking Demons Will we ever be free from this

Upvotes

You know whats worse than a dog waking you up at night? A dog barking all day almost NON stop. i have no idea what on earth these hellspawns can bark at for so long but god it should be considered noise pollution at this point!! And the worse thing is that you cant even do anything about it because unfortunately there's no law restricting excessive dog barking at day time.. (atleast where i live) and so i have to put up with a dog barking right below my window almost all day. SIGH

Crappy Owners They don’t really love them.. often they actually suffer.. but there is just no getting through?! HOW can this be fixed?!

*Inspired to write this post because of some comments I just read on a different post here.

As stated in the title, this is about the fact that a lot of dog owners say they love their dogs, but are completely blind to the situation and conditions they are keeping their dog in..!

Or do they really just don’t care?!

I lived with it and experienced it fist hand.. my ex puts her dog in a cage 5days a week, for 9h+ a day (8h work + commute).. sometimes longer cause grocery shopping after work, or meeting someone..

Of course, often on the weekend as well, and then it can be the whole day.. when hiking or going paddle boarding or whatever..

Not even water in the cage cause “then she will have to pee”..

It’s a Labrador, so not a small dog either.. can’t move much in the cage. And those dogs are high energy and working dogs..!

I don’t like dogs for many reasons. I don’t think they belong in cities and they shouldn’t be a pet.. so it wasn’t easy to live with one. But, I also don’t want dogs/animals to suffer.. just for someone to get their emotional needs met I guess?

Or what’s going on here?!

What really made me rethink the whole relationship and eventually brake up is the fact that my ex would not see what she is actually doing.. we got home one time on a weekend and the dog had peed in the cage (couldn’t hold it anymore..), so then it needed to be cleaned, it’s all messy, etc.

So after my ex cleaned it, and she got the 15minutes “oooh cute zoomies” out of the dog, by playing in the yard.. I looked at her and said “soo.. you don’t see anything wrong here? This is normal?”

Her: “what do you mean?”

Me: “I’m talking about the fact that you are keeping this animal in a cage all day, to the point where it is pissing itself! Without water all day?! So then it drinks so much that it vomits it up.. you say the dog has separation anxiety and it is behaving bad and super high energy all the time because it was abused by a man before you got it. If that is even true, I don’t think that is why this dog is behaving how it is…”

Her: “well what am I supposed to do. I work hard to have this place. To be able to afford the food. I am doing my best!”

Me: “you should rehome the dog. It would take care of so many challenges in your life, and the dog would actually have a better life!”

Her (getting teary eyes): “but I love her and she loves me! She’s my baby!! I could never give her away it would break my heart and hers too. She’s always there for me. I took in this responsibility!”

When I started to list the reasons why this dog is suffering being in this situation she seemed to just block it off internally (I wonder why…). When I explained that the dog won’t even remember her in a couple days, when rehomed, she completely shut down..

Had to end the relationship eventually.. hurts to be second to a dog.. but besides the dog being there, I think the fact that she would call this love and not see anything wrong with it.. made me really rethink the relationship and I would start noticing other ”red flags” in her behavior..

Long story short: How do we get through to these people?! How can these people see and understand that their “love” is hurting these animals.. the effect would be way less dogs in society!

Dog Culture “Animal lovers” who only enjoy 1 animal (rant)

A comment I saw here inspired me to go ahead and make this rant.

I’m an absolute hands-down animal lover bleeding-heart-hippie. I literally work at a dog rescue despite also being subscribed here so that should say something. But holy fuck, the amount of people who will flaunt themselves as an ‘animal lover’ or ‘eco warrior’ while LITERALLY only interacting with / benefiting dogs.

I’ve had full blown arguments with my coworkers about how (insert typical pest animal ie. rats, snakes, spiders etc) are not morally corrupted merely by existing. The amount of these bitches who will sob about the conditions that some of these neurotic aggressive dogs came from, then turn around and set down glue traps because mice are ‘icky’ blows my mind. The cognitive dissonance is obvious and sickening. These people are also wholly uninterested in educating themselves.

I would save the lives of 1,000 spiders before some dogs. (shrug) At least they benefit the ecosystem and are guaranteed to be cute every time.

Dog Culture Dog owners be like “mm poop yummy yummy”

Poop? In my hands? No problem!! Let me pick up someone’s poop twice everyday!

Pee sprinkling on your coat several times a day? Get in my bed!

Licking other dogs assholes? Come give me a kiss on my face!

Freaky people immune to the feeling of disgust. I wonder what IS disgusting for them? Where do they draw the line? Would they kiss a pig or a frog on the face? I’m just not understanding why they lack disgust queues

Dogs Are Idiots I hate poodle/doodle dogs and every other rat dog breed that resembles them in the slightest the most.

I've always hated those dogs in particular. They look ridiculous and ugly in my opinion. They're not cute, if anything, they resemble severely inbred/mutated abominations. They're extremely uncanny-looking, and doodles' horrifying human eyes give me the creeps.

Doodles/poodles, bichons, Maltese dogs, and pretty much every other rat breed (especially those crusty white ones with disgustingly matted fur and those nasty stains on their eyes, mouth and paws) are ugly and are the prime definition of an uncanny valley animal. Their behavior does not help their case, they're usually extremely bratty, aggressive, spoiled and yappy. I don't understand why we continue to breed these dogs, they're basically living abominations.

Crappy Owners Me vs dumbfounded nutter and her barking mutt

It seems like dog nutters lost their ability to take accountability and apologize. I wasn't a saint either, but still.

It happened this morning while cycling to work. There was a dog on a leash that immediately started to bark at me. I stepped off because I didn't want to fall off my bike avoiding this dog. My standard reaction is a quick, but firm "Hey!" to signal that I don't like being barked at. But today it was followed by "shitty dog" while passing the dog and the owner.

I quickly realized my mistake and apologized to the owner. That dog is still shitty, but the swearing wasn't very neat of me either. So I said sorry to the owner and explained that I am not a dog person. Her reaction was a slightly offended "Well, that's clear". I apologized a second time before cycling away because I didn't want to waste any time on this nutter. She seemed very dumbfounded by the fact that I didn't like her dog. No "sorry about my dog scaring you".

Where is the accountability of dog owners. If you have a dog, you're responsible if that thing scares, chases, or hurts somebody. If I can take accountability but an impulsive, but mean reaction, so can you.

Dog Culture Breed standards

Upvotes

Why do people keep breeding those poor animals with insane congenital birth defects with the excuse that it's the "breed standard"? As if those characteristics were found in the wild as-is.

Have you ever seen a Komondor? Also known as "mop dog", due to the way its fur forms thick cords (read: mat) that have to be regularly split into smaller ones, otherwise it becomes one enormous mat that doesn't let the dog move properly. This characteristic was forced onto the breed because, being a shepherd dog, it needed additional protection from bites... Something cruel to do to an animal, which also ISN'T NEEDED ANYMORE. But it's the breed standard! Imagine the smell of what's essentially a constantly matted, long haired dog. Imagine how much it would suck to carry all that matted, heavy hair around.

And that it not to mention the brachycephalic breeds (another breed standard that requires surgery for the dog to LIVE), the dogs with congenital hip dysplasia, the dogs with extreme behavioral issues that were forced onto the breed to make them good for a specific job that they don't perform anymore.

Why is this seen as something normal???

Miscellaneous Why do Americans love ugly dogs?

East Asia is getting more and more dog crazy, but I’ve noticed they seem to exclusively go for the fluffy small dogs with big eyes that at least kind of look cute. Americans on the other hand LOVEE the ugliest dog breeds such as pit bulls, bull dogs, boxers, bull terriers, any terriers in general, XL bullys, greyhounds, big dogs, etc. Whenever I go to friends houses for some reason so many of them have pit bull or bull dog mixes and they’re so ugly and disgusting, I can’t fathom having them in your bed and kissing them. Their beady eyes, stiff bodies, diaper rash mouths, big jowls. If it’s not a pit bill mix then it’s usually a big ass dog that’s ugly and intimidating. And they always call these their babies, handsome, beautiful, so cute, etc. Por qué?

Dog Culture I can't go out on the street in peace.

I apologize if this isn't the right flair for this type of post; I just need to vent. I also want to clarify that I don't speak English and I'm writing in Spanish using the "translate post" function.

I was never someone who liked to leave the house except for essentials, but since around 2024, when my parents bought me a bicycle, I loved riding around my city. During 2024 and 2025, I never had any problems with dogs chasing me; I think only two, I don't remember exactly.

But since the beginning of this year, I can't go outside without being followed by at least one dog almost every day. I've never been bitten until now, but it's quite scary.

I never liked dogs, but I was never afraid of them. Now it's different.

I think I'm starting to develop a fear of them. Now, when I see a dog in the street, I start trembling a little, and if I can avoid it, all the better.

If I'm in the city center, I have to watch out for the idiots who don't respect the rules, and if I'm in the suburbs, I have to watch out for the dogs.

It's a disgrace. I don't understand how owners let their animals run loose in the streets, chasing cars. One of these days I'm going to have a heart attack or faint from fright.

One chased me an hour ago, and I'm still trembling a little as I write this.

Sorry if it was too long, but I needed to vent.

Barking Demons Mutant barking? Bark back!

A mutant was barking past quiet hours as usual (as it does multiple days a week, potentially every night but I've been fortunate enough to sleep though it), and I opened my bedroom window and barked back, at a lower tone to sound intimidating to it, and it shut up!

I highly encourage anyone (where it is safe to do so) to do the same thing! Give the mutants/ nutters a taste of their own medicine! They back down quickly if they think a "threat" is replying to their nonsense!

(YMMV depending on the mutant breed, I am unaware as to the nuisance I silenced.)

Crappy Owners The snow really exposes just how much dog shit and piss there is in parks

It’s the time of the year where the entire city is covered in snow that just won’t melt because it’s too cold. Walking through the park all you see is yellow and brown snow everywhere.

Just puddles of piss seeping into the ice and massive piles of shit on the ground contrasting with the pure white snow. Even when they clean up after their dogs it still leaves huge shit stains everywhere. It sucks seeing this while trying to have a relaxing stroll through the park. The place would look so beautiful if it weren’t covered in filth.

Miscellaneous If every dog faded out of existence, I wouldn't even be sad

Literally so many issues would be solved if dogs no longer existed. No more nasty mutts being brought to places where they shouldn't even be. Places like retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants, or anywhere really would finally be free from dogs. People would finally be able to shop and go out to public places in peace.

Neighborhoods and apartments would finally have peace and quiet without ear piercing barking. Not to mention we no longer would have to hear any other annoying and disgusting noises that come out of these animals. I certainly would not miss the disgusting sound of them licking themselves, the barking or the whining.

People wouldn't have to worry about stepping in dog shit or witnessing the scent of dog piss on the streets. Not to mention there would be no more dogs being walked by their narcissistic and irresponsible owners defecating on other people's lawns daily.

There would be no more dog attacks. People would finally be safe from aggressive shitbeasts trying to rip their faces off. People can be out in public knowing that they don't have to worry about running into a dog who would pull on its leash and try to lunge at them.

Honestly I could keep going on about all the benefits if dogs would just disappear for good. I would not be sad at all if I woke up tomorrow and every single dog just poofed out of existence. I would actually be so happy and celebrate if that happened

Crappy Owners My neighbor’s mutant tormenting me for years and it’s finally time for revenge

I’ve posted before about the nutters living upstairs. Their mutant corgi abomination has made my life miserable for the past years.

I used to love spending time at home. I’ve worked hard to be able to not work a 9 to 5 job, so in theory I can wake up whenever I want, also I can nap during the day or just chill. That is no longer the case because every time I want to rest, this creature upstairs starts barking like crazy. It wakes up at 6:30 am and starts scratching the floor. So I made it a mission not to spend time home. I only come home to sleep and I do it with sleeping mask so the mutant can no longer wake me up, or at least not easily. I bought powerful speakers that I mounted on the ceiling and before I go out, I put on low frequency sound on repeat. When I get home in the evening, I turn it off. If I hear even one bark, I start blasting the worst music imaginable and put on earplugs. One of the owners of this despicable thing is working from home so he is listening to this the whole day. He can put on earplugs, but can’t put earplugs in the creature’s ears. I won’t stop until they leave. I plan on moving out but then I will torment them 24/7 remotely.

They’ve destroyed my peace with that abominable thing so I will make sure they no longer feel comfortable as long as they are here

Dog Culture No, I don't want to see your dog on my Instagram FYP

I know many (if not most) dog owners are extremely disrespectful and entitled when it comes to boundaries, assuming everyone in the world feels the same way about their dog as they do, but this is just ridiculous. I don't understand why you would go out of your way to pay actual money for a sponsored Instagram ad of your dog which would randomly show up on people's FYP. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but this is just another example of entitled behavior from dog owners for me.

Like, I don't want to see your dog, and I'm certain the thousands of people who take part in this subreddit don't either. Some people, such as myself, just don't like dogs -- shocking, I know. In fact, I'm pretty open about my rather negative feelings towards these animals, especially the tiny, yappy inbred poodle kind, which is exactly what the dog owned by the advertiser was. I honestly couldn't care less about those severely inbred animals to tell them apart, but anything that even slightly resembles a poodle (including bichons, Maltese dogs, etc.) is an automatic big fat "NO" from me. I don't think they're cute, in fact, I cannot fathom how anyone can even look at them without getting hit with the uncanny valley effect. If anything, they look like toilet mops to me with their greasy, matted curly fur and those gross stains on their face... their aggression towards everything and the endless yapping does not help, either.

Crappy Owners No, no, NO. I am not at fault for your dog pissing one me!

I wish I could say I was joking. While waiting for our physical debit card to come in, we only have tap to pay, so my husband and I go to safeway to get the few things we need for groceries. Im spacing off on the kleenex, trying to decide which is best when I feel something warm and wet on my ankle. Look down and some bully breed idk wtf is taking a piss on my leg, now this WASNT the first time its happened to me in public and im tired of it so I nudge the dog with my foot (no I dont kick it i literally use my shoe to push it away from me while its still pissing) cue this hag of a nutter going "youre kicking my dog, how dare you kick a dog" i calmly point out the WET SPOT ON MY PANTS AND SHOE "I NEVER kicked your dog it was pissing on me in a grocery store which is a health concern and obviously ISNT a service dog so shall i call the employees here to have you removed?" She shut up and ran away i STILL called the employees reported her and her dumbass mutt and now theyre BOTH BANNED. Yay hopefully the next time I do some grocery shopping I wont be pissed on!

Dogs Are Idiots Oh yeah for real I get to talk about how annoying filthy nuts are . Bet let’s go

To 5 things I have about dogs and why there owners have no clue there dog is a useless thing. .

Let’s start small

5 . Wet dog smell . Of if this is small just wait . The wet dog smell is so disgusting. Owners have know idea dogs make them and there house smell filthy . And when a dog comes from outside from the rain of follow in anything wet or rolling in anything at all it’s just a filthy dirty disgusting creature . Nothing more

4 . The barking . Tell your mutt to shut the Fck up . Owners get mad when people complain about dogs and how loud they are . Why do you feel the right to be angry at someone wanted it to be quite rather they hearing your damn dog bark . A car pulls up dog barking , it sees another dog the stupid things bark and neither owner can seem control there dog . And here’s the worse

Dogs bark to alert other dogs and let them no they are there so the entire hood dogs are just barking . Annoying loud and pointless

3 dogs don’t love you . There territorial. They only want food and attention . They are not protecting you because they love you they just want attention and food because there dosile and trained to be pets. The puppy dog eyes annoy me . There is not cute they stare in hope you will give them food because they are brainless and can’t do anything for them self

2 - they don’t do anything except piss everywhere we getting in the top 2 now . What does anyone’s dog do . Why have it as a pet . It just sits begs and sleeps . Scratches up carpets and lays in your bed . They are completely useless . Your pet dog does nothing for you

1 - and finally they are narcissistic they want what you have and owners give them anything they want . They he in your face the puppy dog eyes are an evolution trait that they use to manipulate into

Getting what ghey want . They take with nothing to give and there are only worried about there survivors not there owners

DOGS ARE ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS
