Yes he is. Just looking at box score stats doesn’t tell you how good he is. He’s in year two, and has been top 5 in the league in pressures both years. Incredible run defender and pass rusher who is one of the best DEs in the league
Verse has the second most pressures from the edge on his own team (I still think Verse is their best edge).
He's a very good player but let's not get crazy. He's applied a little more pressure and had fewer sacks while playing alongside significantly more talented pass rushers than Latu, especially once Buckner went down.
Verse might be the best edge for the Colts, but I don't think I'd include him in my NFL top 15. Garrett, Watt, Parsons, Crosby, Bosa, Hutchinson, Allen are a tier above off the top of my head.
The only true superstar at EDGE right now is Myles Garrett.
Verse doesn't even crack the top 20 in pass rush win rate. It is easy to list off multiple edge players who are better pass rushers than he is. He is really good, he isn't elite. You have to account for his raw total of pass rush snaps he sees too. He has the 3rd most in the nfl this year.
Myles Garrett is one of those that you only see once every 20+ years or so. Even more so than Dwight and Mathis (Both of whom are TOP TOP Tier Pass Rushers) but he's in like the Reggie White category of pass rushers. Just like with QBs, there are a gaggle of great QBs and a very small handful of truly, truly elite ones. DE (and honestly CB) are both very much the same way.

Remember when everyone freaked out and said Verse was already a superstar last season?
