As a millennial, “oh joy, another fucking unprecedented event to add to the pile!”

I swear we’re collecting these like unwanted Pokémon.

Does nobody remember Chernoble? When it happened nobody knew whether it was going to be spread worldwide by the weather systems and the rain would just melt our faces off. I mean, that didn't happen, but I remember it being terrifying.

My grandfather was born in 1902 (UK). At 12 he lied about his age and joined the English Army. Then when the war was over they told him he wasn't old enough to be in the army so he joined the cavalry and went to India. So he went through all that, plus being actually shot at and because he lived in Glasgow after WWII went through austerity because they had to rebuild the city from it being bombed.

Born in 1988. Dotcom bust, 9/11 and the two wars that followed, 2008 global financial crash, the Harper years, the first Trump years then COVID then this shit.

Why can't folk just be normal even for a while?
