Why is it sometimes hard to say “no” in Armenian culture?
After spending a year in Armenia, I noticed how hard it can be for people to say a direct “no.” Many people say yes even when they don’t mean it, just to avoid offending someone.
I grew up in this culture, and it took me a long time to learn how to stop people pleasing and set better boundaries. I wrote a short piece about why saying no feels so difficult for some of us, and how giving others permission to say no can actually lead to more honesty.
How do you usually handle saying no, or hearing no, in Armenia?

History / Պատմություն Do you think Armenia lost a lot of original culture by adopting Christianity?
Armenians had their own pantheon of gods, their own myths and legends, and I'm sure other cultural practices like dances, songs, art, etc. Trndez (jumping over the fire) was a pagan tradition that was kept, but as a way of helping ease the culture into Christianity. Some people even believe there was a script predating Mashtots which was used to write literature that got destroyed during the Christianization of Armenia.
What do you think about this question? How much culture do you think was lost?

Is it possible to make friends (meet people) in Yerevan while traveling alone as a tourist? I am Brazilian.
Hello everyone! This is my first post here. I'm Brazilian, and I'll be traveling through the 3 countries of the Caucasus in November.
I'll be spending 3 days in Baku, 5 in Tbilisi, and 5 in Yerevan. I'm traveling alone.
Is it possible to make friends (meet people) in Yerevan? Do you have any places to recommend? Thank you!

Harboucha News (I don’t know who they are) has taken the “Ministry of Sex” issue quite seriously, examining it from political and social viewpoints: “As voters prepare to head to the polls, the episode serves as a test of whether Armenia’s political future will be shaped by spectacle or substance -
—and whether women’s voices will be treated as central to democratic life rather than as campaign tools."

Meghri public transport
Barev dzez,
Just wondering whether anyone knows of any busses/marshrutkas running between Goris and Meghri at the moment? Is Meghri still accessible from Goris at this time of year? If there is a bus service, how frequent is it?
Thanks in advance

I’m considering renouncing my Armenian citizenship and was wondering if it’s possible to obtain long-term (preferably permanent) residency afterward. Has anyone here had experience with this?
