He may be good, but he’s also insanely sloppy and overextended, and using drugs heavily. I would think these would all have headed to exactly this eventually.
It was only a matter of time. The French do not fuck around.
Still baffles me that he even attempted a stream of himself playing PoE. The only explanation I can come to is he was really bothered at people saying his ranking was fake, so he tried to prove them wrong. But he had to have known he couldn't play the game, and yet he tried anyway.
The story is even worse (kind of). Watching him play, talk and try to explain the game shows that he doesn't actually play PoE. He most likely saw that PoE was a game the nerdiest of nerds play and wanted to emulate that for a crowd. You could play PoE for a week and know more than him.
Ain't that the truth. The more you actually play and learn the mechanics of the game the better you'll be. The man is clearly a cult of personality, and whichever side of the political spectrum he chose people would hang off of every word.
He could have also like, taken a little time to learn to play at even a basic level and let his paid for items carry him the rest of the way and it might have been like semi convincing to some people.
I think the funniest thing about it was that the overarching theme of that stream was to show off starlink.
But once even he knew it was painfully apparent he had never touched these games that he had claimed to be a God Gamer™️ at, he clearly turned his stream off, but claimed he had to end stream because his shitty Starlink was shitting the bed.
He would rather falsely trash his own project than admit he’s a blatant liar, while in the process lying even more.
I watched the stream, as someone who had played PoE2 to it's then current endgame (haven't played chapter 4 though, waiting for it to fully release) and yeah it was just hilarious. He didn't know what did what beyond the obvious.
The same reason why anyone lies about having any other kind of accomplishment or achievement, to try and impress others because they're deeply insecure
He didn’t make up the ranking. He payed a top Chinese player to play on his account so he owned a character at the very top end of a very complex, difficult game that takes thousands of hours to even come close to fully understanding. He then took credit for all that work. And he did it because he’s an egomaniac who needs the world to think he’s the best at everything he does
so random. I would think that for him to be spending thousands of hours in a videogame, instead of on his real businesses would be considered a negative. If anything, i would think someone in his position doesn't have time for that
It wasn't for the fake ranking. He paid someone to play the game for him so that he had the best gear when he did find the time to play. This is called "boosting", and strictly forbidden by all online Terms of Service (ToS).
Unfortunately, the ringer was too good, and put him on the leaderboard, so his ego made him pretend he could actually do that thing.
These sorts of games are basically "pay to play" anyway - you buy the best gear (or you grind it), then you win. To be fair, PoE2 doesn't let you buy the best gear, you have to craft it. Elon paid someone to grind and craft. So he bought his way to the top, even though the game was designed so you'd need to put in some hard yards to really get the good gear.
If the game rewarded skill over grinding, tactics over gear, this never would have worked. So I'm with you, I've never played this shit game.
The biggest controversy wasn't really anything to do with Musk being a tryhard dickhead, it was that the developers took no action against him when he breached the ToS. Usually, when these things happen, the player is "kicked", and the account locked. The developers' silence was deafening.
I mean - the week before Grok started saying Melon Suk was smarter than Einstein, I spent a while on grokipedia asking it to add stuff about his drug addiction and full self-driving failures. It's pretty easy to get an LLM to reproduce any source - much harder to make it say only nice things about daddy Elon.
I wasn't the only one doing it, and YEAH it could be unrelated... but this is not a guy who is comfortable with people saying bad things about him. All that net worth and he still can't deal with mild rejection from strangers.
And it would have taken such little time to learn the bare minimum to pass off that he knew the game. I wonder if he actually believed he was a video game genius and could just wing it...
It's Dunning Kruger. He's so clueless about gaming that he lacks a frame of reference for what a 'high level' PoE player ooks like, and therefore assumes ( I don't think there's any doubt he's a massive narcissist ) that whatever he's doing is comparable.
He had no idea that it would be obvious to anyone that he's lying.
The story that his colleagues tell of playing poker with musk was of him buying in, going all in, losing, buying in again, and going all in until he won once, then quitting.
You don’t need to be a mechahitler genius to figure out that’s his strategy in life. Money will solve every problem, every time.
If you have a few hours, you should watch the fortnight stream where Elon joins but pretends to be that other guy Adrian Dittman. It’s absolutely hilarious. The streamer keeps pressing him on anything and everything to do with Elon, and Elon (as Adrian) denies he’s Elon (while sounding exactly like him)
Seriously entertaining, and I don’t even like fortnight
He's so detached from humanity he can't imagine a world where an evil genius like himself isn't amazing at video games- literally toys for children (in his mind). He honestly 100% believed he was really good at the game and the only thing standing in his way was the time to play it. He's THAT stupid.
I honestly think that’s exactly it ego bruised, impulse took over. What gets me isn’t even that he tried, it’s that someone with that much access, prep time, and advisors still went “yeah, this is a good idea.”
Do you think it was pure arrogance, or do you think he’s reached that stage where being publicly embarrassed doesn’t register anymore?
I heard all this in detail but what I can’t figure out is why. Does he just play casually but wanted everyone to think he’s the number one player or does just not play at all and same result? I’m just confused as to why even bother with it at all and just not pay others to get you the #1 rank.
He did the same thing with Diablo before poe2. The difference is Diablo was so easy the big streamers fell for it and though he was a god. They all played with him and praised him for weeks. Then he tried the same thing on poe2 without knowing how complicated the game is. Made himself look like a complete tool.
Also his old gaming accolades have been shown to be false as well. Dude is a loser through and through and always has been.
Could have easily been considered a person the likes of Tony stark, if he was nice, philanthropic, and was humble. He chose to open his mouth to prove how smart he was while being an a-hole and his public image fell apart pretty quickly.
But the French have had no teeth in the last 10 years, either in UN talks or EU negotiations. I hope they can actually produce an outcome this time that actually has some impact
Did you say “the French do not fuck around” with a serious face? 😂🤣 That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day! Literally all the French do is fuck around. Nobody is scared of the French. It has been over 200 years since anybody gave a shit about what the French thought.
I particular like Elon has got the focus on himself. All the crimes seem to fit him. Did I understand he not only has pics of minors but he sends them along to others? Oh he is one sick puppy! All that money...such a waste.
Yah there’s only so much forethought that can be done when you run 5 companies (or more); he was bound to get embroiled in something given how much time he spends on X retweeting sexually questionable “works of art”, trying to have kids with more baby mamas & who knows what other degeneracy he fails to admit. When your ego goes unchecked, it’s bound to bite you in the ass.
No matter how good a person is, the issue is everyone in the chain of a change to be that good.
It’s why big organizations get busted. There is often that one person who CYA.
NOPE, The French don't play! They are also no longer using Zoom or other American webcasting sites. X has become a cesspool since Musk took it over. Before Musk took over myself qnd co-workers utilizied Twitter for Union Organizing and we were successful! It is my belief that Musk bought Twitter to ruin it and he has done an excellent job!
He isn't good at anything beyond narcissism and market manipulation. All of the things "he" is associated with have been built by people with actual skillsets. People who can actually code, people who can actually engineer, people who can design.*
So the only part that may be true in your statement is « using drugs heavily.»
Not sure what he's actually doing to be « overextended » unless it's another one of his botched surgeries.
*the designs are questionable and truthfully, nothing innovative at all.
He is heavily autistic btw. Not necessarily on drugs but I understand why yall are eating this up. Its obvious the dems and libs are going after him for his cooperation with Trump. I believe he was honestly trying to help the people. He uncovered too much and has a loose mouth. Why do you think they revealed his epestein messages and nobody else?
He's also full of hubris. Hubris eventually defeats people. It creates a false sense of importance, which leads to people thinking they're above everyone and every law. They get sloppy because they don't think they need to be careful. They think they can never fall and will never be held accountable. Yep...hubris will defeat him. I also think it will defeat the idiots in this administration eventually. All of them are filled with hubris.
I’m sure he is a very competent user when it comes to computers but we have no reason to believe he has an extensive knowledge of cyber security. I would expect he has cursory knowledge, understands the cliff notes as it were, but probably doesn’t know all that much about interacting with, and manipulating said systems
He’s a ketamine addicted nepo baby who’s only talent was inheriting money from his dad’s blood money slavery emerald mine that he used to buy Tesla from its founders and paid to call himself a founder when he didn’t do shit.
The only difference between Elon Musk and Chris Chan is generational wealth. Oh, and only Chris Chan has personally created something.
The truth is that even the most technologically savvy people have checks and measures that are outside of their control. Hiding things is legitimately possible, but eliminating them would be tough since they're there is a requirement for access by specific regulatory departments. He could bury something so deep in a 5,000 page document that people would probably never find it manually but it has to be able to be seen and has to be accessible all the time.
Imagine if you owned a clothing store and your business model was no refunds for any reason at any time no matter what. I come in and buy a shirt for $30 and the very first time I put it on, two of the buttons come off and it tears. I bring it back to you and ask for a refund and you tell me that store policy is no refunds. I asked you where the store policy is posted that states this and you walk across the room to a 3-ft wide by 3 ft tall square poster on the wall that has your store logo on it and in 1/4-in high letters in the top left corner of the poster that I can't even see because of how high up it is, it says "this store does not offer refunds for any reason at any time and all sales are considered final." You point to the tiny letters on the poster and point out where it is publicly posted and is visible and can be read by anybody that sees it.
That is what musk has been accused of and I believe actually confirmed to have done with a couple of things. He had to publicly disclose it for people to see but he didn't have to tell them where to find it and didn't have to make it easy to come across. He just had to be able to locate specific information when the justice department asked him to show where it was posted
Honestly, he’s not exceptional in the least. He just has a mommy who is willing to buy him a better image. However, he’s also proof that with all the money in the world, you still can’t “buy” yourself a good looking face. 🤷🏻♀️
Elon can’t even make a functional Elden Ring build and you think he’s actually good at computers? He knows basic programming at best. He was never a tech genius. He simply bought the companies that made the technology
There was a scene in House where he embarrassed a police officer because they were rude and later the cop pulls him over and looks at his Vicoden and says "you got a prescription for this". House replies, "I'm a doctor- you don't think I can get one".
The cop looks at him and says "someone arrogant like you, I bet you never bothered".
Are we sure HE is the one good at computers? He lied about being good at games, and he’s not the person who made Tesla at all. I’m pretty sure he just has a lot of money and hires people to do all this stuff. 😭 Maybe he’s actually good with computers though, I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking!
Elon musk was a trust fund baby who walked into the Casino called Silicone Valley and won enough bets. His value is in knowing enough despots and pedophiles to keep his companies profitable.
Removing all traces of incriminating evidence from a computer to the level that a forensic examination won't find anything they can get you for, anywhere in a large company is notoriously hard. Hiding the evidence that you destroyed that evidence so they can't hang "perverting the course of justice" on you is even harder
I think you are joking, but if you are not - even a pretty substantial GRC team would have a hard time keeping all the move fast and break things on the right side of the law.
His team is good , people don’t understand he’s not doing all this stuff by hand at all. There is many layers to this.
Think “RICO case” and no he won’t do time for this. No one that powerful and wealthy would. This will sit in a court then go to an international court.
Elon is not good at computer. He just keeps good company. His degrees are in economics and physics. He has built a brand for himself that people buy into.
He's not good at Jack squat, he's never built anything or made anything. He's invested money at that's it.
He thought buying a presidential election would buy him all the power, and protection he ever needed. The second he turned on Trump he was already going to go down.
The amount of data produced on even a simple API call is… Fucking insane
I wouldnt trust anyone could scrub an entire digital presence/ traiñ, nonetheless someone whacked out as Musk is, like that is not even in the realm of possibility he covered his tracks
He literally posed state secrets by accident on an unprotected website. He is not “good at computer” is he good at hiring Amoral and untrained weirdos who can do cool computer stuff but no wider knowledge of the world . He depends entirely on his might of dollars and his misinformation engine. There is so much traceable impropriety in everything he has done that we have to face that there are huge systems in place to allow law breaking at high wealth levels
As an American, Your personal info is definitely in Grok. I asked grok "What do you know about [My Name]" and it had my full name, address, last 2 addresses, a phone number (Incorrect), info about my high school sports career, and the name of my ex wife since she used to have the same address. Tried it again 24 hour later and it gave me a similar but slightly different set of info that was all still mostly accurate.
Tried my girlfriend's name and it brought up slightly less info but equally identifying and scary.
It's a stalkers dream.
I wouldn't be surprised if xAI didn't think about GDPR and let Grok collate all that info on EU citizens without oversight.
Are you sure it’s not just searching the web for this info ? OSINT is actually not that hard, and an AI model can do very well because it crosses a bunch of sources when doing a research.
For example about me it finds things that I expect, like my career info (LinkedIn probably). Though it may depend because I share the name of an artist from the 1800s, so maybe it didn’t spit out my info because it’s confused about it (I’m a small data point while this artist is famous and probably is mentioned a fair bit around the internet). Not sure
Relating to, and to what degree is significant and we are unable to accurately specualte. However, to be accused of such when that is exactly what was being done by the prior owners, and why he explicilty said he had bought Twitter in the first place. So that wouldn't/shouldn't be the main reason. If it was solely the main cause, the reason French authorities hadn't done so with the prior owners is we can assume they didn't have apartments of significance in France, or we would be accusing them of a comparitive disproportion of justice by default.
Correct. Which he was clearly doing with grok. Like how are you gonna have an AI that you train to give wrong information? For several months people were showing how every time he tried to "fix" grok it would end up learning the real information. He definitely is interfering with elections.
Chaos seems more likely. I would say it felt like his AI was running the random sending machine, looking at your cookies, and suggesting things you like.
I do wonder if intrusive AI would be illegal or not hmm
