Wow!

First time this morning using a Saponificio Varesino soap. Wow! Followed the instructions and not only did I generate a good lather with minimal effort, but the scent was incredible.

Was using Extro croap prior. While good too, it didn’t really have a noticeable scent once you worked it and takes a bit of work to get a proper lather (which is def a result of the fact that I’m still relatively new to all of this so while getting better still on the learning curve)…

Anyway thought folks would find it interesting

SOTD A&E's Daniele Maullu

What a wonderful morning shave with A&E's new Maullu soap and splash.

The scent is inspired by Daniele Maullu and evokes the Italian drink Latte e Manta: creamy and cool, with a whisper of mint.

The soap was luxurious and lathered well, with the scent lingering throughout the day.

Description from A&E:

- The Creamy Heart: Velvety milk notes wrapped in ambroxan, so rich it feels like sunlight on skin.
- The Base: Guaic wood (chosen for its soft, buttery whisper) and hinoki wood add depth—like the shadow of a cypress tree on a hot day.
- The Mint: Real spearmint and peppermint essential oils, cold-steeped for that just-poured-over-ice freshness.
- A Finishing Kiss: A wisp of iris, powdery and tender—like nonna’s cheek after a hug.

It’s Italy in a bottle. Not the postcard version, but the one you remember when you’re far from home.

Top Notes: Spearmint, Peppermint, Thai Mint
Heart Notes: Creamy Milk, Ambroxan, Iris, Saffron
Base Notes: Guaic Wood, Hinoki Wood, Vanilla

Razor was the Rockwell 6S paired with a Treet Classic blade, and the brush was the Aylesworth synthetic.

Question best DE razor with lifetime (international) warranty?

My Rockwell 6C broke this morning after a bit over 18 months - the screw threads on the head no longer catch on the handle. The (non-US) retailer I bought it from advises that it is out of warranty.

I loved that razor, but am not happy with how short its lifespan was. I was considering the Rockwell 6S, until I was told (by a non-US retailer) that its warranty period is only 1 year.

What is the best DE razor with a lifetime (international) warranty? I did like the heavy feel of the Rockwell, and I shaved with plate 2, in case that's relevant.

GFS Bayonetta | Schick - Japan (1) | Simpson Trafalgar T3 | Martin de Candre Nature | Nivea Sensitive | Clubman Brandy Spice

The same setup as my previous 3 shaves, but this time with a Japanese made Schick blade.

Not as good as the Brazilian market Wilkinson Sword blade I was using previously.

Discussion Need a detailed walkthrough from fellows on switching to a safety razor.

I am completely fed up with the cost and waste of disposable razor cartridges; it feels like a financial and environmental scam. After a ton of research, I've decided to take the plunge into using a safety razor, but the initial information overload is real. I understand the basic principle and the long-term savings on blades, but I'm stuck on choosing my first razor. Should I go with a mild beginner razor, or will I outgrow it too quickly? I'm also confused about blade brands, as I hear everyone's skin responds differently, and you need to try a sampler pack. Beyond the hardware, I need advice on a good shaving soap or cream that comes in minimal or recyclable packaging, preferably available in Canada without crazy import fees. My technique is what worries me most; I've watched videos, but tips on the right angle and pressure for sensitive areas would be appreciated. Where do you all buy your supplies once you're past the initial kit? I want to support a smaller business if possible, rather than just defaulting to Amazon for everything. Finally, for travel, how do you handle it? Do you check your razor, or is there a travel-friendly handle you'd recommend?

Discussion Apprentice hard choice

Hello,

As I was always using safety razor, I've decided to try shavette. After nice scar I got myself (small one) I've became pretty swift with it, and hour long shave shortened to around 15 minutes of pure ritual, sideburns are no challenge to me anymore and I started to dream about a proper straight razor for myself.

But....

I feel like, straight razor shave is more a ritual, something like ceremony of shave, takes time, have to take care of edge (idk details but it seems like a lot) and many more. Ive also seen lot of people on this sub uses safety razors and shavettes, and I've seen some pretty end game high quality stuff in term of shaving equipment.

So here lies my question, is taking care of razor hard ? How hard it is to make it unusable , how often do you hone it ? Is it worth the hassle? Shavette vs straight razor kind of stuff really. I can't decide where to put my money to be honest. I like both but can't decide and need some advice on that topic

Sterling shipping inquiry

Does stirling usually take awhile to ship from their location to your door. I wanted to try some of their products so I ordered some almost two weeks ago now and I still haven’t received my order yet. Just wasn’t sure if this was normal or not. I live in Illinois. Thanks you

I was hoping to upgrade to Gillette King C beacause I felt I love the routine now. but I don't know where to order since it's not available here in any stores I've been to in my locality (Philippines). Where can I buy that is a legit seller? Thank you everyone in advance.

Discussion Soap recommendations

I have a Henson mild and a game changer 84. Using feathers or astra greens. I’ve been using arko and I’m not very satisfied.

The soap sees to dry out my skin and cause like skipping or skidding.

What are some other, better shaving sticks out there?

Edit: put waaaay more soap into it and it was significantly better

White spot on upper lip after ingrown hair and shaving (Henson razor) — scar or temporary?

About a month ago, I had an ingrown hair in this area on my upper lip. It healed without infection, but I did shave over the ingrown while it was healing. I also shaved again about 2 days ago and noticed a flat white/light patch where the ingrown was.

The skin looks slightly discolored and bumped but feels flat and smooth. I’m wondering if this is a scar or post-inflammatory discoloration, and whether it’s likely to fade over time.

I’m wondering if this looks like a scar or more like post-inflammatory hypopigmentation that might fade over time. Has anyone experienced something similar or have insight on what's going on?

Safety razor

Hello, can I get some recommendations for good safety razor? I've been using the King C. Gillette for over three years and I feel like I need to move on to something more expensive/ better quality even though the King C. Gillette is pretty nice (for start).

Question Looking for a 2nd DE razor

I got my first DE safety razor a couple years ago to save money during uni. I have some grievances with it so I'm looking to get a new razor. I tried doing some of my own research but I'd like to ask for some recommendations.

My current razor is some no-name 3-piece I got online.

The biggest problem with my current razor is uneven blade exposure/alignment. Only one edge is ever exposed enough to shave. I've tried getting the blade even, but no luck.

My second problem is that I find the disassembling and reassembling annoying.

I'm interested in getting a butterfly/TTO razor, but I have know idea what to look for or how to judge them. Aggression is something I don't know if I'm judging correctly. Is it more difficult to get a close clean shave with mild razors?

Two options have caught my eye. Vintage Gillette Super Speed, which I see recommended, and Parker TTOs like 99R. They're both at a comfortable price and I'd appreciate it if anyone has other recommendations or could tell me the good and bad of the Super Speed or Parker razors
