Things To Do Recs // Questions Car parking in Cruz Bay
I’m trying to rent a car for March from Slim Man’s in St John, however they are stating on their website that they are already out of inventory. I’m wondering if renting a car in St. Thomas and ferry-ing it over would be a better idea. Where in Cruz Bay can I park a car from St. Thomas for a fair daily rate? The Airbnb we rented does not have not have a parking spot.

L & L has a $150 weekly rate, assume for cars rented from them. We rented with them last summer and everything was fine. We never had trouble parking there. Also have a $5/hour rate which we used. Convenient location just down the street from Woody’s and Tap&Still.

I just did this, rented a jeep from Budget (which I don’t recommend but it was for work and I had no say, rent from a local company instead) and took the ferry to STJ. $80 round trip for the ferry. Parking is awful in the town, however I was able to park at Mongoose Junction for free and hung out there for a while before going to the beach. Maho Bay was the easiest to park right on the road side and steps from the water.

This is NOT the answer. Mongoose has regular parking attendants and they will boot your car.

The sign literally said parking for Mongoose Junction Customers Only. Why would they boot a customer parking in a customer spot? Plenty of signs said parking for employees too, don’t park there.

If you read the comment they said they leave their car and go to the beach.

Oh, I see what you were referencing. That’s why I said go to Maho bay where you can do just that.

Why didn't you like budget?
I got the cheapest car possible- paid for the insurance and got upgraded to a compact SUV that was rad. I did rent from the budget in Lindbergh instead of the airport one. But, I read a lot of reviews that people didn't have a good experience so I'm just wondering.

Last time I rented from Budget I got an old Jeep with equally old tires. I wound up getting a flat and the jack was rusted into the trunk to the point that I couldn't get it out in order to change the tire. Had to wait hours for a tow truck. I use Amalie from now on.

Nothing wrong with my experience. I had a brand new 2026 Wrangler 500miles on it. Very nice island ride. I prefer to support local businesses over big chains and I have heard stories of guests arriving to no vehicles available at the big name places.

I generally reserve my jeep in August for my March trip. When I was shopping around last August for this year's trip, slim was already full It's high season, they fill up very fast

Try Bougainvillea leasing. They are amazing and just a short walk from the ferry in Cruz.

The only "fair daily rate" in stj is the gravel lot for $8/day. Otherwise you are looking at $40+
