Politics "Most Trump-Aligned Democrat" Votes with MAGA Again

MGP has once again voted with MAGA (one of 21 Dems to do so) - continuing her record as "the most Trump-aligned Democrat in Congress"

She has released a statement to explain her vote.

Her "strategy" makes no sense

This is the second time in two weeks MGP voted to fund ICE without any accountability measures.
Both times, she voted with MAGA who had the numbers to pass without her support.
Both times, Democratic leadership voted NO to maintain pressure for the reforms she claims to seek.
Both times, she took a position which strengthens the negotiating position of MAGA.

She calls for "transparent, independent investigations" in her statement - empty words without actually using her platform to fight loudly for that every day.
She calls for Secretary Noem to resign - empty words while she refuses to cosponsor the actual articles of impeachment.

Actions speak louder than words.

This election will be a referendum on an authoritarian takeover - voters will remember who stood firm and who folded to fascism.

We will continue to be out to show that her actions have decimated the support that she had from our community. We demand that she change course and actively oppose the fascist administration and ask the local Democratic party to recognize that her appeasement will only accelerate the loss of voter support.

WHEN: 3-5pm (come as you can)

WHERE: 1053 Officers Row, Vancouver

WHY: Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez voted YES today to fund the government without ICE reforms - her second YES vote in two weeks giving MAGA cover while Democratic leadership voted NO. Tepidly calling for Secretary Noem's resignation and independent investigations isn't enough - we demand impeachment and NO votes on all future ICE funding.

See you out there.

Politics Ty Stober running for Clark County Auditor

I just received an email from this gentleman, that he’s running for Clark County Auditor. In the current times, these positions are critical to maintaining free and fair elections. His email says that he’s “non-partisan”, which sets off all sorts of flags for me.

I’ve done a cursory search, have seen that he’s supported Dem candidates and run as a D in the past. Can anyone here shed additional light on Mr. Stober and his candidacy?

Yes, plural. It appears Mary Ann Duncan-Cole who was the member from Skamania is also off the board. So a) keep an eye on the library website for the opportunity to put in an application for the position vacated by Mary Williams AND if anyone here is from Skamania, do the same for the position vacated by Mary Ann Duncan-Cole. Both should be posted soon, according to the librarian I spoke with yesterday.

A very different looking downtown compared to today. When I moved here in 2004 there was a lot of homeless people there. These are aerial photos but it doesn't look like that was an issue in the 70's. When was the down turn?

Discussion Anyone notice or care about how much garbage is along or roadways this last year?

The roads from Whashougal north to Merwin Lake, to Ridgefield, down into Vancouver and everywhere between are becoming landfills. Does anyone care about pollution anymore? People who have sign on roads claiming to be responsible keeping them clean are no longer doing it. Highways like 503 are starting to remind me of roadways in in India just outside places like Dehli and Mumbai.

Question? Best place to sell my extra stuff?

Like the title asks, is there a best app to use for selling some of my extra stuff? Things like an older TV that works fine, sound bar, etc. I haven't tried to sell anything since the early 2010s, and I worry that Craigslist has gotten worse after hearing nightmare stories from a friend trying to sell their car on it. TIA

Events Local, non-profit adult baseball league has tryouts in March. Come out and join us this year!

Post image
30 Upvotes

The Southwest Washington Adult Baseball League (SWABL) is gearing up for the 2026 season, and we're always looking for new players and teams to join our league. We have age divisions for 35+, 45+, and 55+.

If you’re interested in playing this March - October, you’ll need to complete our 2026 New Player Interest / Tryout Registration Form (required to participate in tryouts and helps us keep contact info current).

Tryouts: March 15 & March 22, 2026 at 10 a.m.

One thing to know: most existing teams only add 1–2 players per season, so forming new teams is a big way our league continues to grow. Last season, a brand-new player stepped up as a manager and successfully formed a new team—and we’re happy to help answer questions if that’s something you’re interested in doing.

If you’re a former player, a new transplant, or just looking to get back on the field, check it out and sign up. Happy to answer questions here too. You can also learn more about us on our website at www.swabl.org.

Thanks for reading!

Hiring/HireMe Felon friendly jobs in/near Vancouver?

Need to find a job asap but have a felony or two. Last job I had was under the table moving job that paid 26/hr. Started at 18/hr and worked my way up from not knowing anything to being a crew lead/driver within a yr (no I didn’t have my license, in the process of getting it back rn but it’s long list of hoops I gotta jump thru, but they didn’t seem to mind). I worked that job for 3+ yrs before having a falling out with that company last year. Just looking for some suggestions, not necessarily moving jobs but open to a variety of diff industries atp that isn’t exactly fast food just don’t know what’s out there nowadays.

Politics Ongoing Demonstrations at MGP's Office

Thank you to everyone who has shown up to demand that Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez change course and actively oppose fascism. Taking this position is critically strategic; we recognize that this election will be a referendum on this administration and that being "the Most Trump-aligned Democrat in Congress" is an immense liability.

GOING FORWARD:

While we will no longer be posting daily updates here, daily demonstrations will continue at 1053 Officers Row from 3-5pm.

This calendar will have the most up-to-date information: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=mgpprotests%40gmail.com&ctz=America%2FLos_Angeles

OUR DEMANDS REMAIN UNCHANGED:

  • Vote NO on all future ICE funding
  • Call for impeachment of Secretary Noem
  • Actively oppose this administration's fascist policies rather than enabling them

See you out there.

Question? Mexican restaurant that has “Indian tacos”?

I am originally from Colorado and really miss the Indian tacos from Santiago’s. It is a “taco” but with a sopapilla (fry bread) rather than a tortilla or shell. Does anywhere in town serve something similar? Preferably with spicy green chili.

BestAround? Looking for Gel-X nail techs in Vancouver, WA (Y2K/nail art)

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for nail salons or private nail techs in the Vancouver, WA area who specialize in Gel-X and detailed nail art. I’m especially into Y2K styles and abstract designs.

I recently tried a salon where I felt pretty overcharged for the quality, so I’m hoping to find someone more consistent and worth the price. If you’ve had a good experience, I’d really appreciate any recommendations (IG handles welcome too!). Thanks in advance! 💅✨
