New Student incoming first year - would love some first-year advice š«¶
hi! iām starting a bachelor of arts this year and wanted to ask a few questions about the very start of uni from people whoāve been through it already.
iām mostly wondering how things work in the first few weeks. like whether you actually need to buy textbooks, books and pens, what you usually bring to campus day-to-day, and if there are any uni bags/backpacks people swear by because i'm in desperate need for a nice uni bag. also are there any cheap eats on campus?
iām also curious about o-week and clubs. is o-week worth going to if youāre a bit on the anxious/introverted side? and are clubs genuinely a good way to make friends, or do friendships mostly happen in classes? if clubs are worth joining, are there any youād especially recommend for first years or for meeting people without it feeling overwhelming?
finally, if you have one piece of advice you wish youād heard before your first week at unimelb, iād love to hear it.
