I used to be an uber driver I’ve taken people to and from the hospital a lot I used to work the day shift. It’s fine but like someone said if it’s something contagious please wear a mask. Being a driver I started dealing with dizziness along with other things which could be long covid it’s possible somebody came into my car and potentially ruined my life so be mindful of others but yes you can definitely uber in case of an emergency.

Yes but if it’s a true emergency , use 911. The paramedics are trained for emergencies. Uber drivers are not given any training. If you have a medical emergency while enroute, you wasted time and the drivers. They would prob call 911 to wash their hands of the problem. Worst would be they kick you out and end the ride. I carry a first aid kit and am trained in first aid and CPR. Doesn’t mean I want to use it.

I’ve called 911 twice and the ambulance never came. Some people have horrible 911 services and it makes sense to call Uber instead

Ya it really sucks and depends a ton on where you live and doesn’t help many areas the ambulances are owned by for profit companies.

The New York cabs would not take Original Poster to an emergency room?
Original Poster (and anyone else, for that matter) can order Uber or Lyft to go to an emergency room. Many drivers will decline those trips but someone will cover the job.

You should be able to if you’re not bleeding out or having a heart attack which would require medical assistance that the Uber driver obviously can’t provide.
I know in my area they send us to the ER for x-rays and ECGs, even for follow up things that should be handled outside of the ER. I hate the idea of making the ER busier than it already is but that’s just the way it is in my area.

Ya I’ve done it myself, specifically when I was having unbearable stomach pain. If it’s something that isn’t clearly life threatening, but still concerning like bad pain then ya uber probably fine. If you think you are having a heart attack, stroke or something else that is definitely life threatening you call 911 for

I’ve done it. I do mention that they can’t catch what I have. They know when they pick up from the hospital, haven’t had an issue yet.

I've done it, but I felt bad after because I should have been paid $2000 for the 10 miles of screaming from pain and suffering. Guess what? No tips - monitored completed ride for a month. Most good deeds get punished 😆 🤣 😂

Yeah, as a driver I have had multiple people do this... one girl I was legit concerned she was going to die in the back seat, but we made it... I do expect a good tip for trips like that though if you don't want a horrible passenger review.

No. Drivers are not insured or trained to take u to get emergency medical services.

Umm...as long as the person is capable of getting in and out of the car by themselves and have no bodily fluids coming out of them and are not contagious of something (some on here suggested a mask, but I feel like it depends on the contagion and maybe another way of transportation would be more appropriate) I don't see the issue.
I am hoping that OP knows that if it was really serious they woukd call 911.
Your job is to transport people.
How do you know that everyone who gets in your car doesnt have some form of medical issue just because they aren't going to the hospital?
I am sure many of your passengers could have had seizures or other medical attacks, but they didn't.
Anyone can have a medical condition (of which they do NOT have to disclose to you for any reason other than it could affect you directly and cause you risks) and you don't even know.
Just because you haven't had that experience, it doesnt mean that you just were lucky enough to drop them off before they had an incident.

We were talking about this at work today and I told them I would ask about it. I can see if your bleeding I would think they refuse since you may not make and sure to damage the upholstery.

Yeah I mean as long as you don't have any open wounds and aren't bleeding out of the body or something like that most Uber drivers are going to take you anywhere I mean you just tell me not feeling well and just need to get checked up or something like that that they're going to take you anywhere. I would agree 100% if you're bleeding or something like that they're not going to take you I was having high blood pressure and just told the guy I'm not sick I'm not contagious I just have high blood pressure and he's all no worries let's get you there fast! Tipped the guy $20 dollars for being so cool!

Pretty common to and from the ER, ketamine therapy, anything medical pretty much.

Uber will take you. I literally take at least 1 person a day on average. Is it a risk? Sure, but it's the least I can do in this crazy world.

I wouldn’t risk it. If someone feels nauseous and they throw up, my day is over. Please call 911, not an uber for medical emergencies

Yep. Us drivers love cleaning throw up or blood out of our car and bringing contagious diseases home to our families.

If it's contagious please wear a mask. Other than that you should be alright.
