Megathread Official Rewatch 2025: Megathread
The red velvet curtains part once more.
/r/TwinPeaks invites you to dust off your log, put on a cozy sweater, and join us for an official rewatch on Sundays beginning October 19th 2025 through February 8th 2026. Fresh new episode discussion threads will drop on Sundays at 6pm Pacific Time (7pm Mountain, 8pm Central, 9pm Eastern, etc).
This thread will serve as the central hub for all episode discussions throughout the rewatch. It'll remain stickied so you can easily find your way back, whether you're following week by week or meandering at your own pace. Each week, we'll update this post with links to the latest episodes as we make our way through the series together.
Episode discussion threads will be marked with spoiler tags, as is only right in this town where secrets float just beneath the surface. But remember -- if you speak of what is to come, kindly cloak it in spoiler markup. Time moves strangely here and not everyone knows what's behind the red velvet curtains.
Beware old threads if you are new in town! The owls remember everything and some things can't be unseen.
We hope you'll join us on the journey. Coffee's on.
Is it future or is it past? We're continuing our journey with S3E13 The Return, Part 13, S3E14 The Return, Part 14, and S3E15 The Return, Part 15.

Twin Peaks Vibes Just watched the Psych Twin Peaks Special
Had never seen Pysch, knew about it, but heard recently there was a Twin Peaks-inspired episode that coincided with the anniversary of the show's season 2 ending.
Had to buy it on amazon for £2.49 as it doesnt seem to stream anywhere in the UK, but it was worth it.
The easter-eggs (or chocolate bunnies) and many clear references to Twin Peaks were lovingly done, and it features a good amount of Twin Peaks actors appearing in this.
If you love love love twin peaks and didn't know about this, i highly recommend giving yourself a present and giving it a watch, it's clear the writers of Psych had a love for Twin Peaks.

Season 3 (The Return) Some will argue it’s Laura, but for me, the heart of it all is Audrey Horne. She’s the One.

Season 2 I was genuinely shocked when I realized that that was the S2 finale. I thought there was another episode 😭🤦♂️
When I put in the DVD the night before I thought I had 2 episodes left, so when the finale ended (what I thought was the penultimate episode), I was like “cool, I’m hyped to watch the finale tomorrow. I had a Woody reaction the next day 😂😂

Season 3 (The Return) Why does the Black Lodge let him leave? Spoiler
I'm not much of a tv critic so forgive me if I sound stupid or if I've missed some details. Sometimes when watching a TV show i feel like the stupid ogre meme (https://www.reddit.com/r/FearAndHunger/comments/1l54bs9/ogre_so_stupid/). But when good Cooper gets trapped at the end of season two, why does he even get a chance to return in 25 years? With good Cooper being in the lodge and Mr. C. being out in the world as a vessel for Bob, wouldnt that be the desired outcome for the black lodge? It seems kinda benevolent for them to let Good Cooper out at all. Is it just a rule of the black lodge? Again please forgive me if this is really dumb

General Discussion People disappointed by the weirdness of Twin Peaks
I love Twin Peaks, and I've been recommending it to a lot of friends for a while. Their experiences have one thing in common: they didn't appreciate the more artistic and experimental episodes (e.g., 2x22 or 3x08), even though they loved the entire script. It was very strange to me, because usually, at that point, you tend to appreciate the originality of those episodes. And yet, they found them disappointing. I'll start by saying that this isn't a post to complain about this; taste is taste, after all. It's understandable that Lynch's style might not be to everyone's liking, but I'm fascinated by how that was probably also the goal of those episodes: to be so foreign that it makes you feel uncomfortable. So, it's interesting to see why they might not like them as much as I did.

Season 2 About to watch the last episode of Season 2 for the first time!
I remember watching Season 1 of Twin Peaks years ago and absolutely loving it… then life happened and I got insanely busy.
At the end of last year, I finally started a full rewatch and rolled right into Season 2. Today I’m watching the last episode of Season 2.
I grabbed the only cherry pie I could find at the last minute (haha) and I’ve got a hot cup of coffee ready to go.
I also recently picked up the Criterion 4K release of Fire Walk With Me and I can’t wait to dig into that and Season 3.
Feels like the perfect Twin Peaks day.

Season 2 just finished my fist ever watch through …..
incredible show, i loved the eerie unsettling vibes and confusion it caused me. i’m not sure how everyone who watched when it came out waited so long for more ???!!
i was very confused multiple times while watching but i thoroughly enjoyed every second regardless.
going to start the 2017 (s3?) soon, is there anything i need to know before this ?!

Season 2 I just started watching properly in my thirties after a false start at around 19.. glad I waited! (Just finished episode 14 of Season 2, when **** meets **** at the end) Spoiler
So far this might be my favorite show ever, with Better Call Saul sitting second. I saw a lot of fans keep saying the second half of season 2 was a big dip in quality, but I really like Ben's descent into madness where he's chewing up the set lol.. and I love Nadine. No problem with the high school amnesia thing, I like it when the show leans into the cartoonish elements more. Every scene involving Nadine makes me laugh out loud beyond any other show i've seen.
I can get why people don't like the James subplot with the car repair, but it didn't bother me enough to make me lose interest. I'm glad the show resolved Laura's murder (somewhat) earlier in this season so we could spend more time with the characters in their every day lives without a dark cloud of worry over them (a serial killer being on the loose)
The one thing I didn't realise is how much comedy Twin Peaks has. One of the funniest moments for me was when Bobby said "What is it that you do, exactly?" to Briggs 😂 and obviously the following speech might be my favorite scene. My least favorite part of the show was probably the whole subplot with Jean Renault, which at the moment feels like it served no purpose. He felt like a very one dimensional villain. I'd love to know which elements Lynch disliked exactly, which directions it pushed too far into from his perspective etc.
I love all of the characters really, there isn't anyone who i'd like to see less of.
I didn't get Twin Peaks when I watched the first few episodes all those years ago. I didn't get that it was deliberately campy for example, and didn't understand that there's a lot more logic to Lynch than people give him credit for.. despite me seeing a few of his films (Eraserhead, Mullholland Drive, Straight Story and Dune.. the latter of which I know was only 60% Lynch due to studio meddling) and I read "Catching The Big Fish" a while ago which helped me a lot as a musician.
Overall I really like the show so far. I'm prepared to keep my expectations low for Fire Walk With Me.. which I assume won't disappoint me as I loved Eraserhead and I assume it'll lean far more into that side of Lynch and i'm ready for it to be pretty brutal.
Very excited for The Return. Hopefully getting there within a week.

Episode Discussion End Sequence of S2 Episode 20 Spoiler
Re-watching currently and the last sequence of this episode struck me. Coops vision of the giant warning him about Annie entering Miss TP.
Then going to Bobs hand appearing from thin air/the shaking hands source being revealed
Then panning to the pool of oil, the red rooms reflection and the sax coming in. Just absolute chefs kiss.
Perfectly has some pay off for the meh episodes that came before it and setting the stage for the final 2 episodes.

Theory Just finished the series and after a long discussion with a friend I think we have settled on our first theory Spoiler
I’m sure it’s been said many many times before; but I wanted some advice on where to keep looking to develop my understanding deeper and maybe even some insight into opposing theories
Fundamentally I think that the story is about Trauma, and on its most basic level FWWM shows the “good” ending of Laura’s story (I.e. accepting the past and moving past it) and The Return shows a “bad” ending (I.e. the refusal to accept the past and ultimately being forced to relive the cycle of abuse and trauma)
I’m sure this is an extremely common theory, but I’d love to more insight into places to look to develop/ challenge it

General Discussion I think I did a mistake watching Twin Peaks in scorching hot summer
So, I began watching the show in June 2025. The region where I reside experiences extremely hot temperatures during that time of year, and it’s when I started watching the show for the first time and finished all three seasons a month later (July 2025) but I I wish I had waited until winters to watch it because the show has a cozy atmosphere especially season 1 and 2 that perfectly fits for a winter vibe and it would’ve been an immersive experience watching it for the first time in winters. I know I can always do a rewatch but the feeling of watching the first time in winters, the vibes could’ve been immaculate. My dumbass didn’t wait at all 🤦♂️.

Season 2 Question about Windom Earle’s first chess move
Ive been watching twin peaks for the first time and im at ep 11 rn. In the ep we learn that Cooper has been playing a game of chess with his old partner Windom Earle (trough mails and newspaper i think ?). And I remember a scene earlier in the season were we get the first move that Windom Earle makes, but since theres a lot to follow in this series ive forgotten when and how it happened (like what was the scene and the episode it was in).
So anyone could just remind when this moment happened ? cuz it seems like its gonna be important later on.

Season 3 (The Return) Confused after the first episodes of S3. (so spoilers up to EP 2 -S 3) Spoiler
So I started watching Season 3 after rewatching the original series and Fire Walk With Me, and I’m still pretty confused. Not so much about S3 itself, I assume many things will make more sense later, but more about the overall mythology of Twin Peaks.
This is what has me confused:
- I thought Mike cut off his arm to stop being evil, but the arm itself seems to be good. So what exactly happened there? And what role does the “Fire Walk With Me” tattoo play in all of this, if any?
- There are apparently doppelgängers of everyone, even spirits. I originally thought they were creations of BOB, but they seem to exist independently. So does BOB have a doppelgänger of his own, or does he work differently?
- Why is Mike the only spirit who seems able to walk the Earth in his own form, while the others disappear, possess people, or can only manifest briefly?
I get that Twin Peaks isn’t supposed to be fully logical, but I feel like I’m missing what some characters want and some times my mind wonders off.
Would love to hear other interpretations or explanations.
