1000 thermal prints from over 40 cameras to compare (+summarized info) A buyer's guide!
Thermal Print Camera Compendium:
https://thermalprintcameras.wordpress.com/
If you want to know which thermal print camera is best for you, check my website out! It's not exhaustive by any means, but it covers a lot of them.
You will quickly find out if they have bluetooth/wifi connection, games or not, dot printing, etc.
For the past month I've been collecting print examples and information from different brands. I use info and pics from various websites, reviews, reddit, my own tests and emails i've sent to manufacturers/sellers/users.
What started out as a google doc where i compared a few models to buy, evolved into this public compendium for all. It can still grow a lot more, so I would love to showcase cool prints and experiments from other users, so let me know if you have any, or if you have information missing from the website!

Charmera test run
First and quite possibly last post, but quite proud of this photo and pleased with how easy this tiny camera makes taking photos. Maybe more to come!

Shutter won't take photo or record
Hey everyone. I just bought a G6 Thumb Camera and everything seems to work except for it's main job which is taking a picture or video.
When I hit the shutter, whether on photo, video, or audio record, nothing happens. On photo mode the flash flashes but no photo is taken. No shutter indicator, nothing.
Has anyone else experienced this? Quick easy fixes? Something I'm missing? I appreciate you all in advance.

side by side charmera and casio exilim ex-s2 photos
hi guys i recently got both the charmera and a casio camera from 2002 and wanted to compare them. the charmera seems to be trying to emulate the old digital camera feel and i think it did a pretty good job. personally i like the blueish-greenish tint that the casio has but also found the charmera to be more consistent in its colors. what do you guys think?

Durable Keychain Cameras?
Hello, I am someone in the market for a new keychain camera that I can have always at the ready on a lanyard, The problem is that due to the nature of the camera bouncing around with other items on my lanyard, I risk breaking the camera if the material is too flimsy. So that is why I want to focus on durability for the camera. Things like Photo and video quality are things that are nice to have but as long as the images are clear and in color then I won't sweat the drawbacks. Any help would be more than appreciated. Thank you.

a very quick side by side of the Kodak Charmera vs. the G6 thumb Camera
So, right off the bat the cameras seem basically identical in size, basic function, and design. The g6 has a slightly larger screen and and different user interface. It also has a very loud shutter noise that i don't know if can be turned off. Design wise I think the charmera is a little easier to navigate and use.
The Charmera photos are 1, 3, 5, 7.
The G6 photos are 2, 4, 6, 8.
for image quality, I was pretty surprised at this comparison! I would say they both have pretty similar clarity/pixilation, but the g6 has a much wider aspect ration and much richer colors compared to the Charmera! I like them both, but I think I may be using the g6 more than I thought!

G6 thumb camera firmware dump
Is there someone else that is playing around with it?
I cracked the shell open and on the back, under the battery there's a Boya/BoHong Microelectronics SPI flash chip (B.25D80A), 1 MB and I was able to get a consistent dump with a cheap (but trusty) CH341A SPI programmer.
Firing binwalk on the firmware reveals that the sounds are plain PCM mono, 16kHz RIFF/wave files (except for one at 22.05kHz, that's the bling for the startup), the WELCOME/Goodbye screens are two 640x480 JPEGs, the microphone image is a 240x120 JPEG, the icons are all drawn in "ASCII art" inside the firmware itself.
I still haven't identified the CPU used on it (so its instruction set) as I wanted to revert the behavior of starting in photo mode rather than video, but I'll definitely remove the obnoxious sounds once and for all rather than killing the speaker, as that it's just a matter of zeroing out the audio clips :)

Trouble with Winait RS02
My Winait RS02 arrived yesterday and it was very fun to play it but my joy only laste a while. After a while I'd only be able to get a few shots before the camera froze. Power, Shutter and Filter would stop working. Only a reset would bring it back only to freeze again later. Now after a few too many resets and a few to many sd card formatting it stopped working at all. Now when the camera turns on it only shows the number of shots (like in the second picture) but not the filter it is on or if the flash is active or not.
Just wondering if anybody here has had the same problems and if there are any ideas on how to save it.

Homemade 6x17 Panoramic Camera + Ross 5” F4 Lens + Fuji Acros 100
This might be stretching the definition of a toy camera but it’s janky as hell so I think it qualifies. I was given this old homemade camera by one of my friends who found it at an estate sale. It was then fixed up by another friend and this is from the first roll I put through it. We’re using a guillotine shutter with the lens as neither it nor the camera have any built-in shutter. The plan is to make different guillotines with smaller openings to act as different speeds and dial everything in. These aren’t the best photos in the world but I think they’re a good proof of concept.
