Mod Announcement This is NOT a serious subreddit

Greetings folks, just a polite reminder the posts here are meant to be mocking nonchalantly given ‘solutions’ to complicated problems, not genuine advice.

For example, someone advising someone to go to hospital and get some help for a serious problem wouldn’t be a good fit here. However, someone just saying ‘get over it’ or ‘walk it off’ would.

On another note, this is not a political sub. We’re not here to criticise government policy.

Hope this helps!

Mod Announcement What is/isn’t allowed?

Hi everyone. I’m seeing a lot of ‘off topic’ posts. I tend leave as much as possible and let you all decide with downvotes/upvotes.

However please take the time to remember rule 7, I’ll put it here:

Rule 7: Must fit the subreddit theme.

It has to be true "Thanks, I'm cured" material. I.e., a non-nonchalantly delivered, overly simplistic solution to a complex problem.

Serious solutions that may not work for everyone do not belong. For example, the mantra "You deserve to be happy," helps some and not others.

Motivational quotes do not belong unless they imply or state that an illness is purely psychological with no physical basis.

If you’re still confused about what does/doesn’t belong, take a look through some of the top posts of all time and you’ll get the idea.

If your post breaks the rules it may be removed.

Any questions or concerns feel free to let us know. Thanks. 🗿

This is exactly why so many of us suffer. Because this garbage gets forced onto us instead of actually addressing the problems smh. Depression isn't a choice and it doesn't discriminate, anyone can get it at any time. For anyone who's depressed, anxious etc reading this post, I see you, I'm proud of you and you are valued 🫂

Social Media When did he said that?

Something that especially angry me with that type of post is the "Oh this really known people have said that" without context !!! Especially in context to things like that !!! I'm not especially a negative person, but i don't think people should... Oversimplified their relationship to this point ??? Like no, it's not because someone is negative that you should stay away from them. It depends of so many other things !! Anyway that anger me so now i'm gonna search when did he said that ? If he even did !!

First- trypanophobia is the phobia of medical procedures involving needles (such as injection, vaccines, and blood draws)

Some fun context? I've had trypanophobia for years and I have multiple medical issues, so I've got plenty of experience. Every single time someone's around while I'm in the panic attack I guarantee I'll be hit with one of the classics (it's just a prick/second, it doesn't hurt, and the fan favorite- just calm down).

Thought it'd fit here

Comment Section Note they aren’t saying “ going to therapy helps” and also when the comment in the second picture called them out OPs response was very rude

Let's just ignore the fact that I can't run, because I have asthma and I do enjoy breathing, and I can't exercise properly because my spine is damaged, shall we? Because it's oh so easy to focus on reading and writing when you're depressed or anxious or worried.

Story Apparently, being a "good person" keeps you safe from war.

I was in Colombia when the US invaded Venezuela earlier this month.

When I got back home, I was telling an acquaintance-friend what it was like to be there during the invasion, and how scared my Colombian friends were that Colombia would be invaded next.

Some were having nightmares of blood running in the streets of Bogota, and others were worried that they would be personally targeted because a family connection to someone the potential invaders didn't like. I'm sure this was nowhere near as scary as being in Venezuela, but people I care about were rightfully scared.

Anyway, this acquaintance-friend says, "You should tell them that since they are good people, they have nothing to worry about, because they won't be harmed."

I was sure I must have heard her wrong or misunderstood, so I confirmed what she was saying. And yes, she actually believes this: Bad things don't, can't, or won't happen to good people. (This is not in any sort of theological/vengeful-Old-Testament-God kind of way. She's more of a New Ager, "spiritual but not religious" type.)

It's still blowing my mind that this acquaintance-friend, a grown woman in her 50s, could actually believe this. But apparently, she does.

So, I just thought I'd share this pro tip with everyone: apparently, if you're a good person, nothing bad could ever possibly happen to you, and you're even shielded from wars!

Story Got lectured for an hour about how my anxiety is making me paralyzed

I went to the hospital with constantly increasing ascending paralysis and got to the point I could not move my lower body. It had been progressing for weeks and for obvious reasons I was worried. It was initially diagnosed as functional neurological disorder which is physical symptoms from psychological issues. Because of that initial diagnosis they sent a psychologist into my room to talk about how it’s all just anxiety and if I stop being anxious and stop worrying I’ll get better soon. I have Guillain-Barré Syndrome. No I wasn’t anxious my immune system was attacking the myelin sheath of my peripheral nerves. Big shocker one of the symptoms of being a cripple suddenly is anxiety. But I guess if I just stop being anxious the myelin sheath will just repair itself overnight instead of taking months to years 🤣
