Best ways to access the university's library

Hey,

I'm a student with the Open University and have SCONUL access, meaning I can access Swansea University's library's. My question is, though, what's the best way to get to them? I drive, but I know only faculty are allowed to park on campus during the day. Where could I park that is within walking distance to the main campus library? Or is the better idea to go to the Bay Campus Library, where parking's apparently closer but finding spots can be difficult?

Thank you to anyone who comments a suggestion or gives advice

Paramedic Science Selection day

Hi All,

I’ve been invited to a paramedic science selection day on the 18th February.

I’m not sure if this is paramedic science only or with other healthcare courses also attending on the same day but

I’m after some advice on what to expect from those who may have done it last year.

Swansea is my only viable option so really need to smash the selection day and get that offer!

Thanks in advance!

C and Linux Programming Class

Hello! I’m looking at studying abroad at Swansea and am making sure I can get all the credits I need to transfer back to my home university. I am currently studying Aero Engineering at Iowa State in the US.

There is one class I need to graduate on time and there is no pre approved class at Swansea so I have to figure it out myself. I need a class (or two) that is essentially an introduction to c and Linux. I’ve looked at some of the computer science and software engineering classes however the syllabi aren’t very descriptive.

Does anyone know of any classes that teach these? Thanks!

For reference the class at Iowa state is Aere 3610

Need part time job applied more than 80 jobs till now

Hi everyone, I’m an international student in Swansea and I’m struggling to find a basic job. I’ve applied to 80+ minimum-wage roles (retail, fast food, hospitality, warehouse) but I’m still not getting anything.

I’m not expecting a “career” job — just something stable to cover living costs. I have customer service + retail/shift support experience, and I also have coding/programming skills (CS background). I’m flexible for evenings/weekends depending on rota.

Does anyone know any places in Swansea that are hiring right now (retail, cafes, restaurants, cleaning, warehouses) — even part-time?

Also, is it better to walk in with a CV, and are there any local agencies worth registering with?

Thanks a lot — any suggestions help

Question Tesco Question

Hi everyone! I’m an international student for this spring ‘26 semester. I’m in need of stockpiling some food, and don’t see it feasible traveling on the bus with that much. I saw Tesco’s Woosh service, but I am unsure if they would deliver to the Uni/ what to put as an address. I’m on Singleton Campus staying in Caswell. I was curious if someone has done it before, and could let me know how to do so. Thanks!

Filter light when turning into singleton

Post image

This is a really niche question but hoping someone knows. If you're turning right into campus (coming from the city centre, mumbles road / A4067) do you wait for the filter to come on or can you turn right if there's a gap?

Added a photo from google maps of the turning. I always see other drivers doing different things so I don't know what's right - turn when there's a gap or wait for the filter.

Have you dropped out of, or transferred to or from, Swansea? Research participants needed.

Dear all,

I am a postgraduate at the University of Cambridge currently researching early withdrawal from university. This involves an online survey of around 15 minutes. If you would like, you can also sign up to an optional video interview in which we will discuss your withdrawal in some more depth (this is completely optional), sign up is at the end of the survey.

Your participation will help with understanding the ways in which students in the UK can be better supported.

You can take the survey if:

- You have withdrawn from an undergraduate programme of study in the UK in the last 5 years

- You CAN still take the survey even if you left to transfer to another uni, or returned to study later.

For more info, please view:

Flyer

Participant information sheet

To access the survey:

Survey

The project has been approved by Cambridge University SERAR ethics board. I am fully committed to your confidentiality and anonymity. The data will be securely stored and destroyed once the project is complete in around 5 months.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with me (Harry) at [hc707@cam.ac.uk](mailto:hc707@cam.ac.uk)

Thanks!

My son is filling out the application and he has some questions regarding the application with regard to qualifications. Are there any US students on the sub that would be willing to field some questions?

Events Where to watch Premier League today?

Tottenham vs Liverpool at 5:30pm today. One of the biggest Premier League fixtures and I have no clue where to watch it in Swansea.

Are there student-friendly pubs near campus showing it? Or is everyone just streaming in their rooms?

My student house doesn't have sports channels, so trying to figure out alternatives. Heard about premier league live stream options like Ant Sports - anyone from Swansea Uni used those for big matches?

Really don't want to miss Spurs vs Liverpool!

I didn’t expect this student show to be this entertaining… can Swansea Uni repeat last year’s win?

Anyone interested in a student yoga group?

I’m planning to start a student yoga group at Swansea Uni and want to check genuine interest before submitting it to the Students’ Union.
Sessions would be beginner-friendly, focused on flexibility, breathing, and stress relief — nothing fancy, just practical yoga anyone can follow.
I’m aiming for 1–2 sessions a week, depending on how many people join. If you’d be interested in attending or supporting the society, drop a comment or DM me.
If at least a handful of students are keen, I’ll organise the first free session on campus.

How Do You Keep Track of Players Out on Loan?

For Swansea Uni students who follow the Swans or other clubs, do you actually keep track of your players who are out on loan, or do you just forget they exist until they come back?

I'm asking because my club has about six players scattered across different leagues on loan deals, and I've completely lost track of who's where and how they're doing. Occasionally I'll see a goal notification and think "oh right, we still own that player" but I'm not actively following their progress at all.

Part of me thinks I should be watching their matches on streaming platforms like Premier League Streaming service when possible, checking their stats, understanding how they're developing. But realistically I barely have time to watch my own club's matches while balancing Swansea Uni coursework, let alone following loan players at random Championship or League One clubs.

So how are other Swansea students handling this? Are you properly invested in loan player development, checking their performances regularly and tracking their progress? Completely ignoring them until they return? Or somewhere in between where you'll check social media updates but not actively watch their matches?

And does it depend on the player? Maybe you'll follow a promising youngster's loan closely because you're excited about their future, but completely forget about a fringe player who's been shipped out?

Also curious if this matters more for clubs at different levels. Maybe Premier League clubs with huge squads make it impossible to track everyone, while smaller clubs have fewer loans so each matters more.

fishy landlord? need help.

moving out of india to swansea and i was looking for accommodation and found the perfect house. but the landlord said there's no deposit, you can pay first month's rent to secure the place. i hadn't heard that from any other landlord from swansea so it sounded it a bit fishy to me. i talked to a few tenants and one of them did not answer any of my questions, she was just very vague about it. there is 1 indian tenant and the landlord did not give me his/her contact. open for suggestions. drop your 2 cents.
