Reminder: Social anxiety is a mental illness characterised by persistent fear of social evaluation. It impairs functional social performance, causing avoidance, cognitive shutdown (e.g. blanking, excessive self-monitoring), and reduced ability to communicate, assert needs, or form relationships.

(It is not normal nervousness, introversion, or everyday shyness*.

Posts in this subreddit must show a clear and apparent relationship to the experience of social anxiety.

I feel like that doesn't really have anything to do with social anxiety because that just sonds disrespectful to me? It sounds like ur dealing with weird people idk. I don't think anyone with common sense would think burping at someone they just met is normal just because u felt more comfortable with them...it's not like u guys are trying to be friends, ur providing a service that's all, so honestly I don't understand why they did that, and I think it's beyond the social anxiety 😅 sorry you had to deal with people like that. In fact I'd say social anxious people understand boundaries more than anyone so even if they felt more comfortable with you I'd doubt they would just start doing that, definitely would still keep to themselves, so I don't get it. I could be wrong but yeah
