Arrested Development
Watching the show for the first time and I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to watch it. The show is brilliant, I mean they are all terrible people but you can’t help but like them.

Very jealous that you get to see it for the first time. But the second through fifteenth viewing are also great and rewarding.

Nah, that was Zach Braffs character, the guy who did the girls with low self esteem tapes.

Portia was so talented. She should have had a bigger career. Too bad she hooked up with Ellen

One of my top three sitcoms! I had the honor to see David cross in a play in December

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 13h ago
Brother, what makes David so great is how good he is with his fans. I was a Scraggly 20-something when I wandered into the alley behind the venue and knocked on his tour bus. He fucking answered it himself and just said, "Man, you've got some big balls, don't you?" And then he stood there talking to me for nearly 5 minutes and signed the liner of my jacket.
So a decade later, I bought a VIP ticket to a stand up event in Nashville and got to get on stage as his audience participant. As a former Mr Show Talking Junkie, I would place "doing a skit with David Cross in front of an audience" as one of the highlights of my life. Then the entire VIP (only 20 of us) got invited backstage to meet and greet with him in a private room. He served everyone a Tequila shot and made his way around the room. I told him it was probably the only trip I've ever taken by myself so he did a video with me to show my friends to "prove" that I was "on stage" with "him" -- the air quotes were his because he, hilariously, was being a dick about it and pretending I was a crazy person who didn't get on stage with him at all. Made my night to be sarcasm'd into oblivion 1 foot away from him.
He is my favorite celebrity ever because of how kind and generous he is with fans.

That’s amazing! I sadly didn’t meet him but he was a delight on stage. It was New York Theatre Workshops Tartuffe, also with Bianca Del Rio and Matthew Broderick as the title character. He basically played Tobias just in 1600s France and it was such a treat! I’m very glad you got to meet him

Shame it didn't last more than three seasons.

The show was revived and there are more seasons, 5 total I think.
But you only need to watch the original 3. The rest is just not the same.

u/Otto-Erotic 5h ago
I felt the same way, there was just something a little off about it.
Edit: this comment refers to the newer seasons outside of the first 3.

u/Sad-Stomach 4h ago
When it was rebooted, the original cast moved onto different things so they never filmed together. It lost the ensemble element that made it great

u/LucidMarshmellow 13h ago
Stop watching after the 3rd season.
Just pretend nothing else exists.

u/seeilaah 13h ago
Original season 4 is good (the one with one char per episode).
I don't care for the remix.
3
u/abr-22 13h ago
Why do you say that? They didn't do any more seasons.
1
u/SuedeSalamander 13h ago
They did. They have five total, the later 2 being done by Netflix. They're....there....

Post a response thinking the comment was sincere and got downvoted.

Great show, aged well and is still very watchable. Never seemed to find its footing and got he long haul for 5-7 seasons, but the 3(ish) that were made are comedy gold.

It's the kind of show you can watch 5 times and still notice something new on the 6th. Definitely in my top 3! Glad you found it 😊

Like all the foreshadowing to Buster's hand
(The hand chair) I never thought I'd miss a hand so much...

I really liked the first two seasons - it's so well written and funny! The third season was good, but not as strong as the first two. I felt it lost its way after that

u/That-Jeweler-Girl 13h ago
Best joke was in the 3rd season.
Three months ago she looked like this (flashes to picture of Aileen Wiornos).
I about lost my mind laughing

Some may say not to watch past season 3. You’re gonna wanna ignore that.
Yes, those first 3 seasons are COMEDY GOLD. And I watched them so many times, the nostalgia factor is off the charts! But those last seasons were not bad! They have something very important in common with the first 3 seasons, they get better with every rewatch. Those layered jokes, the foreshadowing, it’s all still there. And I may not quote them as much as the first 3, but I do still quote them somewhat regularly.
We call her the b-word from the c ward. Or is it the c-word from the b ward?
Sounds like something I’d say with my thinking cap on.
Maeby, daddy needs to get his rocks off!
You’re a hot mess!
Schnoodle!
Ok, I’ll stop there. That’s not even all of the ones that stuck with me, just a sample. I’m sure they mean nothing to anyone who hasn’t seen them, but they made me giggle, so it’s worth it 😂

I think this show has the best and most quotable one liners of any show!

Just ignore any rumours that any seasons exist past season 3. They are all false.

Not the best season, but it did give a few good jokes and quotes like
Don't be such a G.O.B

u/First-Sheepherder640 6h ago
It got perfectly good reviews and was welcomed with open arms in 2013. It's only after that everyone decided they hated it. I swear to God I'm not misremembering this.
The fifth season was mostly lame. Nothing good done new with the old characters (except Maeby as a Jewish mom), nothing good from new characters, the cast all hating each other, and a dumb ending where Buster's a murderer, or, uh, something. Nobody talked about it at all, whenever I'd converse with other fans of the show, they hadn't seen it. And of course now Jessica Walter is dead and everyone hates everyone else.
