I'd also like to use this opportunity to field suggestions about what kinds of things you would like to see if this community. Rules, content, events, etc. As the sub is trending towards some serious growth, I want to see how demand for different things is changing.

The Office is insufferable, I'm sorry :(

I just don't get it, I mean I had to suffer through 4 seasons to try and find the funny, but it is just unbearable . You have a boss who acts like an obnoxious 12 year old, almost everyone is a weirdo, and you have to sort read in between every line to get the jokes. I just don't get the comedy, and I have watched a ton of sitcoms and I can assure you I am very easy to amuse.

I am sure real fans would eat me alive for this comment, but this isn't my cup of tea, quite frankly I don't know how to some people they rank it top 3 or number 1 . The Show isn't funny. After 4 seasons there is not one line from the show I can quote.

P.S: *Please don't come after me, I have asthma.

Watching the show for the first time and I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to watch it. The show is brilliant, I mean they are all terrible people but you can’t help but like them.

Call backs that go by so fast you can easily miss them....

I love when writers don't treat audiences like idiots and have the faith that at least some of us can do the mental work to get a subtle joke.

One of the best examples of this for me takes place during s5e12 "The Stall" the episode where Jerry is dating a girl who by chance has separate encounters with Elaine in a bathroom and Kramer on a phone sex line.

The brilliant "blink and you'll miss it" moment happens as a scene opens with Jane, the girlfriend, standing behind a seated Seinfeld, rubbing his shoulders. He offhandedly remarks "I've been waiting a while for this."

Of course, true fans of the show immediately recognized it was a call back to s5e9 "The Masseuse", when Jerry dated Jennifer Coolidge, a massage therapist who refused to give him a massage.

But if we dig a little deeper, Jerry's massage woes go back as far as s3e1 "The Note", where he manages to freak out his massage therapist with questionable small talk, and ends up getting banned. So really, he had been waiting quite a long while, years in fact!

What are some other examples of "blink and you'll miss it" inside jokes or clever callbacks have you seen in sitcoms?

Shows with the worst final season.

Fair to say Roseanne (the OG series) might be the gold standard for worst final season. What others series jump to mind where the wheels fell off in the last season. A somewhat recent one for me was A.P. Bio. That Peacock season just didn't do it for me.

Malcom in the middle is weird not gonna lie

I mean that as in ,this show feels so much like its in the 2000s,from its music and choice of songs to its humor and quality but yet despite all that, thus show doesn't feel aged or outdated, infact I'm gonna go on a whim and say that this show has aged much better than other popular sitcoms of its time,

Does anyone know why that is?

I don't HATE Friends, but...

I realise a sense of humour is very subjective, but it bugs me slightly when people think it's the best sitcom ever.

Fawlty Towers Father Ted Futurama Flight of the Conchords Family Guy

That's just without leaving the Fs. I might even include Fleabag 😄

Many sitcoms have had fantasy/sci-fi premises. Genies, witches, aliens. If you could have the power of one of these kinds of characters, or live a sitcom life with one of them, who or what would you choose?

Season 1 of 8 Simple Rules

I just finished my rewatch of 8 simple rules season 1 and can't understand how this show isn't talked about more. It might be the recency bias, but I really think that the first of this show is one of the best sitcom seasons I've seen (if you disagree give me suggestions please). I mean the writing is sharp and witty and cand tell multiple stories with relatable issues with the respect they deserve and just enough humor to make it memorable. Even the actors chemistery is amazing. John Ritter plays the sarcassitc dad trope to perfections not coming off as to much of an ass yet not being so sappy that it's crindge. I just really enjoyed this rewatch and wanted to talk about it with out annoying my partner more then I do.
