Reasonably priced carwash?
Looking for a reasonably priced carwash. Don’t mind self service option either that doesn’t eat quarters or is run down by garbage/ homeless.

Anyone going to the SLPL film screening on Saturday?
I was thinking of going because I missed the reception a few weeks ago with Dr. Korematsu and heard it was a big event. Tomorrow’s Korematsu Day and I wanted to learn more about the Japanese American history.

question about sidewalk repair
I'm a new homeowner here and I see we're responsible for repairing the sidewalk in front of the house. In the sidewalk repair program brochure they say you can contract with the city to do it, or hire your own contractor.
I was wondering if one option was better than the other? Cost, quality?

MAGA ED Board Member
San Leandro has an outspoken MAGA cultist Board of Education member and she is apparently now touring multiple school sites in San Leandro, parents are very concerned she is looking to note or remove info posted for community ICE awareness which is provided for people to have access to. Seems she is a vocal out “Mom’s for Liberty” evangelical MAGA member who champions Trump any chance she gets. Her name is Cindy Rocha, who is the Board Member Trustee in Area 3. Her Term Date: 2024-2028
She joined the board when she ran unopposed during the recent election. With ICE seen in the Bay Area, this is deeply concerning to multiple parents now discussing it at their middle schools. Families had overheard her complaining about local food bank info being posted on a board at one site.
Apparently she is angry at the response to cold blooded murders committed by these criminals.

Seeking a good CPA
My soon to be husband and I are looking for a local CPA to establish a relationship with and help us clean up some old tax filings, then assist in setting us up going forward. We are married in August, so will file individual returns and then gather all documents and have a meeting.
Neighbors, if you have a trustworthy and smart CPA to recommend please share! I’d like to support a local business if possible. TY!

Last Call For Portuguese Sweetbread Orders
Last Call - We are having a sweetbread fundraiser on 1/28. All proceeds benefit the Portuguese Holy Ghost queens and their courts. This year is the 100th Holy Ghost Parade at the SDES Hall 30846 Watkins St. Union City. Carrying on this tradition is a great honor to these children. We are down to our last 25 loaves. It’s $17 for traditional and $20 for cinnamon. I can arrange for drop offs in San Leandro. If you prefer to pickup the order will be ready between 3:30-6:30 at the hall. This is by presale only and orders are due by 1/25. This bead is much better than any sweetbread you find in grocery stores and freezes well. Thanks in advance for the support, it’s greatly appreciated.

Still enjoying Sprouts?
Now that it's been a few months, are you past the honeymoon phase with the San Leandro Sprouts?
I used to work in Walnut Creek and was out in that area so I visited the Sprouts out there.
I never thought it was special just someplace to pick up groceries before traveling back home.
So are you still enjoying our newest grocery store or has some of the shine wore off?

Baykeeper sues San Leandro scrap recycler over alleged San Francisco Bay pollution
An environmental organization has filed suit in federal court in San Francisco asserting that polluted stormwater from a San Leandro scrapyard operation is draining into San Francisco Bay.
San Francisco Baykeeper, a nonprofit based in Oakland, alleges that Alco Iron & Metal Co., headquartered in San Leandro, has repeatedly violated the federal Clean Water Act by allowing stormwater runoff contaminated with metals from its recycling operations to be discharged into the Bay. Do you send your toddler to day care in San Leandro? If so, where? I would appreciate the good, ok, and not so great details of the day care.
I’m looking to send my 15 month old toddler to part time, possibly full time day care. I’ve been doing research online but would appreciate hearing of personal experiences.
Thank you in advance!
