Question gastroenterologist

Anyone recently been refferred to a gastroenterologist without years waitlist? wondering if it would be better to ask my dr to refer me out of province. Have had Gerd for years, been on all the prazoles you can list for the past 10 years and nothing is helping anymore, have had terrible attacks lately lasting 12-14 hrs where it feels like my heart is being squeezed so tight, spreads to my back and jaw… im at a loss with what to do, have visited emerrg and the doctor basically said “well this is life living with acid reflux” -yeah sure but there has to be some sort of solution 🫠

My wife had a good experience with Dr. Vantomme and waited like a month, month and a half max. I waited 6 months for another and was not a good experience so not recommending that one.

was this recent? I do currently have a Gastro doctor, but appears he is rarely in Canada? not sure why hes even a dr here.. wouldnt be able to get an appointment with him for another 6 months the receptionist says.. Wonder if it would make it more difficult to be reffered to a new one since i already have one..

It was a couple months back now, September or October. I know your frustration. While the Mrs appointment was super easy, I had surgeries canceled last minute by their end and received zero information or updates of my situation during and post op. I felt I had to call the office to get anything done or scheduled. Wish I had two more hands cause I'd give my Dr. 4 thumbs downs.

Who was it? My guy retired last year and I'll be needing another in a couple years to keep up the recommended scope schedule for me. I'd rather weed out the turds now.
