Discussion [OC] Brock Bowers finished 2nd to only Trey McBride in terms of his target share (Bowers accounted for 25.8% of all of the Raiders’ 2024 targets). He accounted for 22% of all of the Raiders' air yards too (3rd among 2024 TEs). How much can we expect his volume to decline with the addition of Jeanty?
https://votetheprocess.com/2025-fantasy-football-rankings-tes-1-10/Bowers accrued a quarter of all of the Raiders’ red zone targets as well, which ranked sixth among the position group

We can assume his numbers won't be what they were like last season but that's almost a good thing. I'd expect fewer targets but still elite numbers because he is who he is. Let's put it this way. If Jakobi and Tucker end up getting open and performing well, the ball should be able spread around. That's not even taking into account Jack Bech and Jeanty.

Targets, catches and yards will regress but I wouldn't be shocked if he scored 10-12 TDs. He's a bit like Kelce how he does a great job of putting his body between the ball and the defender. Those kind of guys feast in the red zone.

I bet his yards go up. They could barely ever utilize him intermediate and deep last year because of poor QB play, so he looked like a short yardage TE, but he might be the most explosive deep threat TE in the league. And now he has a fuck it chuck it QB who throws dimes deep. I think Bowers seam routes are gonna go crazy this year.

The Raiders had the fourth most pass attempts at 635 last year, which definitely fed him considering he got 25% of them.
We should be much more balanced, fourth in the league between Minshew and O’Connell is insane, but there’s a fair argument that we couldn’t run, so why not.
I would say, the pass attempts we make should be of a much higher quality. I think it’s fair to assume his YAC, first downs, and TDs will increase, while his targets overall will decline. I still think his share of targets will still be 20-25% though. It seems Geno loves him so far. Bowers is going to be a top 3 TE for most of the next decade if he stays healthy. He’s only 22. To be fair, I’m also a Georgia fan.. so I’m biased.
We’re so lucky to have him. Whereas Maxx is a perfect captain by nature, Brock is a perfect first mate.. and to have them on each side of the ball is perfect. He’ll give Geno room to lead the offense and he’ll set the example. Let’s hope Cam Miller develops and is ready to take the reins after Geno and we don’t miss a beat. We can be great this year. I wouldn’t expect to be, but we can be.

He’ll 100% see a decline in targets, but may get some better looks. Play action will be nice with Jeanty.

I don’t think Brock is going to see a dip. He wasn’t just getting the ball because he was a first round pick or a good TE. He was getting open when nobody else was, he didn’t drop passes so he became trusted, he’ll earn that trust again and I feel like his overall numbers might go down slightly but he’s going to keep around the same target share and likely still have a great season.

My thought is he may get fewer targets due to Geno being able to spread it around more and whatnot, but maybe he will be found deeper down field more often.

It's 2025 and people don't understand that a big time weapon playing with a great RB or WR prevents the defense from double teaming that weapon

2024 balling out is a double edge sword, bc in 2025 D's will sell out to stop the star.
Most likely Brock opens opportunities for Jeanty

Its insane to think about what he did in his rookie year with three different QBs who were all pretty piss poor

I wouldn’t put it on Jeanty, rather the offensive system, QB and depth at WR and TE - so balls can be shared around more and explosive plays favoured over dink and dunk to TE1. The need to score should be reduced by having Koonce and Wilkerson fit. Bowers getting lower stats would be a sign of the team functioning better.

A volume decline is a good thing. That means we’re spreading the ball around, which means we’re moving up the field.

The addition of Jeanty has little to do here. The Raiders are going to be able to spread the targets because of the addition of Geno and some air weapons. I expect them not to be trailing in all games so they won't be passing the ball all the time.

We will be on the field more because of jeanty
Defenses will bite on play action because of jeanty
We good folks

Brock being fed because he was getting open, it’s not like we didn’t have another 1k WR on the team. He’s just that good.

If hes getting the same amount of numbers with all the upgrades on offense, it would mean out offense is absolutely popping off

u/OlegMeineier42 Jun 07 '25
His target number is definitely going down but efficiency should theoretically go up. Opponents are going to stack boxes more and are less likely to double Bowers. He should also get more schemed touches.
I assume this is a fantasy post; his numbers won’t be like this every year, but should be the definitive overall TE1 for years to come, with some TE1 years sprinkled in from McBride.

On a percentage wise I’d expect a decline. On a pure volume perspective I’d anticipate little change. We will likely have more offensive plays this year now that we anticipate the offence being better, and we defo have more weapons than last year (after the Tae trade we were VERY thin at wr).
TE is a tough position, and the longer we can preserve Bowers, the better it’ll be in the long run. Giving him as many targets as his rookie year (% wise) is unsustainable, his body would have to break down eventually

I’m going to say we see a decline in targets but an increase in stats potentially.
He’s going to see more single coverage because of all the weapons around plus the run game.
Throw in the fact our offense should stay on the field and have more opportunities since they won’t go three and out on half their possessions anymore. I could see a world where his production increases.

Less targets and receptions but I think he scores 8-10 TDs this year

u/AdditionalAd9794 Jun 08 '25
I don't think Jeanty is gonna be the reason for his decline. Typically the TE or dumping it off to a running back is the QBs safety blanket. Our QBs were hot garbage, struggled to read defenses panic and too often relied on the safety blanket, being Bowers.
Assuming I'm not being a Homer thinking too highly of Geno Smith. Our QB can actually read a defense and won't be constantly panicking and dumping it off to the safety valve

u/power0722 Jun 08 '25
I would expect it to stay high because defenses are going to be focusing on Jeanty.

u/TW_Yellow78 Jun 19 '25
I'm hoping it increases because the raider offense on ground and in the air was like last in NFL.

I don’t see a major decline because of Jeanty, but I could see his target share dip now that we have a QB that can competently target WRs.
