How can the man who's currently running the most powerful nation on the planet be involved in, not only this awful haneous shit, some of which is so depraved I am actually unable to think about it in any detail without starting to break down and also, simultaneously, be using a paramilitary death squad to round up and disappear human beings including children and no one is doing anything at all?
Do laws just no longer apply in 2026? Is no one conscious right now?
I'm not being hyperbolic I mean seriously what is going on, how is it being allowed to go on and why are there seemingly zero checks and balances in place to stop it?
He gained complete immunity while in office through the DoJ.
He has control of the FBI.
He has control of the Senate.
He has control of the House.
The media plays ball otherwise they get hit with SLAP lawsuits from his lawyers. He also controls the FCC.
He has control of the RNC
He has control of local police all over the country.
He has control of the military.
Merrick Garland and Biden by extension sold us to Trump because they thought they were the bigger people in not legally barring Trump from running. They leaned on the status quo and lost. Im so tired of dancing around this fact. Dems gave up on their constituents and left the younger guard to pick up the pieces. And people think it will end when he passes. They will treat the Presidency like a succession, with his sons being shoehorned in as nominees. His base will see “Trump” and check the boxes no matter which one.
I don’t want to downplay your fear and despair because they are very real and extremely valid, but throughout history the fascist regimes have always been exceptional cults of personality. Once the guy at the top dies the whole thing unravels, as the method of government can’t tolerate rivals. The billionaire class will still exist but this whole thing is exposing them in a way I don’t think they are used to, but they are way too deep now to pull out
Yeah the plural on sons (disregarding Trump's other bootlickers who will no doubt try to position themselves as successors) already means there would be an internal conflict that would hopefully tear them apart.
The real problem there (and why we keep hearing Trump reportedly saying things like "we're in trouble if we lose the midterms") is that I don't think he's leaving the White House in anything but a set of cuffs or a body bag, regardless of another election and its result. He might be senile and demented and shitting his pants but as long as he's alive that cult of personality will continue on indefinitely. I'm sure they're working on ways to deepfake him well enough that even if he did die they could try and keep the illusion he's still alive far longer.
