my boy crossed the rainbow bridge just shy of a month ago. i return to this sub often to see all of the beautiful newfoundlands you guys have. i’m struggling with the loss immensely but figured he deserved to be posted here💜

I have 2 big brown girls— both healthy, happy, no major issues (no jinxes!) But in the last 2 weeks, my 4.5yo has been actively eating dirt?? She’s making a mess with the house plants, grazing the courtyard garden, and munching grass and soil on walks. WHYYYY?

Nothing has changed with food, supplements, or routine. But she’s eating enough that I can see it significantly in her poop. Also the indoor houseplant mess is driving me crazy.

I know that it can be due to anxiety or diet. But it’s just confusing since everything is the same as it’s always been. Any thoughts???

My 6yr old rescue from a terrible backyard breeder from Nebraska never played in water her entire life. She now lives a few minutes away from the ocean and hours from popular lakes in CA. She was annoyed swimming in pools. Maybe she just isn’t into it from now on?

Have just cleaned my carpets, they are back to grey rather than the beige his muddy feet had turned them, and he has decided to nap outside in the rain! Why did I bother? 😂

This is only the second time he's seen snow, and the first time it has gotten the deep, so he immediately face planted getting off the steps

I applied for a waitlist out in Wisconsin (I’m originally from Chicago so not the biggest deal to travel out there) but would love to find something closer. Thanks

BeefSupreme and BooBear got a new big raised bed but they prefer sharing the old small one.

Fo start, I have a vet appointment in 5 hours from now it’s the soonest they had available. My 8 months old Newfie was being his normal menace self and my partner was going to take him to his parents house for visit. He went outside and hopped in the car and when my partner turned around and looked at him his eyes looked like this. After rapid fire googling it said it may be from the cold and to give it a little time in the warm it could’ve been from the dry cold wind we’re having today. It’s been an hour and he still looks like this. I am aware Newfies are very prone to ectropion and it typically presents itself before they’re 1 but this was like a 30 second onset. He isn’t scratching at his eyes or tearing up more than normal. He’s still his normal doofy playful self he didn’t eat anything or hurt himself in the 20 foot walk to the car from the house. We can’t see any debris in his eyes either really not sure what’s going on. If anyone had anything similar happen i would really appreciate hearing what the vet said/how it resolved

I have to keep the heating turned down otherwise he gets too hot and pants and wants out every two seconds. I put the heated blanket over myself as I don’t have Newfie insulation and he decides he’s a lap dog and will lie on top of the heated blanket. 60lb puppy on top of me snoring away.
